    Dear Broadstreet,..

I haven't seen you in over 10yrs now but I can still remember the great times we had together while stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. You had a Saturday night special called nickel night where EVERY DRINK cost only 5 cents OMG my battle buddies and I use to get tore up on you!! A DJ who played all the hits we loved that kept the dance floor jumping all night till closing time.

You lured me and practically my entire unit to you almost every Saturday night with the promise of cheap strong drinks, ample amount of drunk women, the right to smoke a cigar at will inside and the chance of getting kicked out due to excessive drunkenness...ahhhh those were great times!  Many nights we treaded dangerously on the hopes of getting through the check points on base to a much need barracks bed but everytime was a successful mission, which guaranteed our return the following weekend! I miss your open arms after a deployment that held a welcome back sign in one hand and a 5 cents crown & coke in the other...sigh....oh what great gesture to welcome a soldier back,..how we missed you dearly while we were gone!

I'm retired now, married and have moved on but I still carry your Broadstreet VIP membership card that really had no value (lol) but still reminds me of you in my wallet everyday...the things we been through i could never share with anyone,..well except my crazy battle buddies, you and the full house of  people that were there every Saturday night, but no one else! You will always be a special place to me, and even though I may never see you again I just want you to know that because of you I PARTIED, DRANKED, DANCED, AND ACTED A FOOL EVERY SATURDAY NICKEL NIGHT  FOR FOUR GREAT YEARS!! Thank you soooo much for the memories!! May our paths cross again someday...well that may not be such a good idea so may you forever be immortal in my mind & heart!

    Always,

It's another one of those North Carolina clubs that have the private membership thing, but they didn't go through all that sign-in jazz like at other clubs in the area.  Inside, it's very wide open, with lots of room to walk.  Three pool tables take up the center of the space, with a dance floor and DJ area on the left, the bar on the right, and about 20 bar-height 4-person tables in the back.

Friday nights are the night to go.  It's Free entry before 10pm, or free before 11pm if you're Military.  Better yet, it's $1 for domestic bottled beer, $3 for import or premium beer, and $1 for house liquor.  That's right, Cheap Date.  But the problem is the service.  We got there at 9pm, and it was pretty empty except for some people at the bar. We were the first to sit at the tables in the back.  The server assigned to wait on the tables didn't help us, so the bartender took our food order.  The server brought our food, but after that, we didn't see her. The bartender got busy with her customers at the bar, and then another server introduced herself to us.  No good that did, because she proceeded to the table next to us and just spent most of her time chit chatting with them.  When we were ready for another round of beer, we tried to wait for a waitress to ask if she could help us, but we ended up walking to the bar to get service.  To comment on the food, we got some fried shrimp, which was boringly presented, and tasted like crap; and some chips and salsa, which were way too salty. The salsa was decent, but we left hungry, having to go to McDonald's afterward.  We stayed longer than we would have just to catch the end of a basketball game that played on the TV at the bar.  It was not even 10:30pm, and it wasn't quite as full as we'd hoped it would be.  There was a fair amount of people, but hard to tell if they were the kind you'd want to mingle with.  Maybe we'll give it another try next week.
