I decided to surprise my soldier with a real meal while at Fort Pickett. I quickly realized that there is not a big selection out there. There is no menu online to view but he read me the whole menu and let me ask questions. They delivered it on base to my soldier and he said it was really good. I read the Cajun fries are good, so I ordered him those, baked ziti, side order of meatballs and sausage, 2 sodas and cannoli. Thanks for the help and delivery :)

Actually a pretty good pizza. Fresh and nicely made. The chicken wings weren't half bad; a little too crunchy to be authentic, but tasty. The cajun fries were very good. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. A decent area choice. If my cardiologist would permit it, I would return.

Now there is no smoking in the restaurants in the area, so eating in is nice!  Guests were pleasantly surprised with the pasta dishes they ordered a few days ago.

I like their meatballs side dish.  Jim likes the pasta with bacon and cream tomato sauce.

We were working at Fort Pickett for a week, long hours that required lunch and dinner. We found out from some soldiers that Brother's in Blackstone was good. They must be getting served some really awful food in the chow hall because... yuck.

First of all, the first night, we ordered a LOT of food, and half of our order (maybe more) was incorrect. We ordered three pizzas and received one. I asked for no ham in my fetuccine alfredo (because really? Who puts HAM in fettucine alfredo? Gross!), and surprise, there was ham. The "chicken wrap" one of my co-workers ordered was actually a chicken calzone-looking thing, mostly bread. And finally, it took over an hour to get all of our (incorrect) food (and this was ordered at what I would assume to be non-peak hours). At first I thought, oh, well, the base is in the middle of nowhere. But a few days later, we drove to Blackstone, and Brother's was probably 15 minutes away from our building. So no excuses for them.

For some crazy reason, we decided to order again (I guess everyone was sick of peanut butter and jelly and jello). This time, we ordered three pizzas. They were delivered much more promptly, and they were alright at best. I literally mopped grease off of it with a napkin, and after eating two slices, I was completely over it -- back to PB & J for me.
