Well... I once liked Bucks... that was before they fired all of the good bartenders to instead hire young girls barely out of high school (or so it seems).  There goes getting any decent service.  I too used to like eating there until they closed their grill at 8PM, then 7PM, and then some days just decide to not even open it.  You cannot ever plan to eat there, because you never know if they will have the grill open or not!

Overall, it has just become one big disappointment after another with Bucks... on a good note... the place is for sale, so maybe the new owner (if they can find one) can make it a worthwhile place to go!

I really enjoy stopping by Bucks - the atmosphere is great!  However, I'm sad to see they changed their menu and deleted my favorite chips!

But, on a really positive note, I was there yesterday and the waiter had put in the wrong order for me.  What I wanted was not there, so I said no worries, I wouldn't get anything.  I had eaten some fried pickles, and I was fine with not having anything.  Plus, due to the fire many items were unavailable.  However, the waiter felt so bad he gave my boyfriend his meal for free and only charged us for a couple drinks and the fried pickles.  He was worried we wouldn't come back - but we will!

Like the other review here so far, we went to see the Cari Dell band at Buck's and it was our first time at Buck's.  There were 3 in our party and we all had dinner, appetizers, and drinks.  The Onion Rings were the best I've had, the Chicken Fried Chicken was amazing, and the Mountain Man Sandwich was 'Awesome!'.  The food, entertainment (Cari Dell rocks!), and service were all great.  A few locals there needed to be cut-off a few drinks earlier, but other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Bucks.

Really impressed. The parentals brought me to Bucks to see Carrie Dell perform. It's a bar, but they serve food. I was warned that it wouldn't be the Ritz, but hey, who needs the Ritz in a mountain town?

First awesome was sitting near the juke box and a guy stops by to ask if we are OK with his music selection. It was tongue in cheek, but it turns our he was the proprietor.

The 2 young women who worked there (one of which was the owner's daughter) were friendly and provided good service. I was so happy that they had Shock Top on tap!

The food was not the Ritz, but it was better than bar food! Here we go:

Chicken fried chicken; a little over salted but the meat was juicy and tender. It was perfectly battered and crisp, even under the thick white gravy. The side of veggies were a bit skimpy, but quite flavorful. The mashed pots were nice and lumpy (hand mashed, like they should be, with skins on) and the bread was toasted and buttered. I was impressed!

Shrimp basket; very tasty little shrimp, but not so little that they were bothersome. Natural cut fries were hot and crisp.

Chicken fried steak; I didn't taste it, but the portions were larger than the chicken. If you're hungry, go for this.

Onion rings; Yeah, I know, I don't like onions, but I like rings. And these were about the best onion rings I've encountered. They were thick, crisp and the batter wasn't just batter, it was tasty.

Green salad; generous portion and they had blue cheese dressing. Bonus points.

Great bar, wonderful band, pool table, polite crowd respecting others and smoking outside. I like Bucks. It may not be for everyone, and Mom says she wouldn't go there alone, but I hope we get to go back again when I'm in town.
