This was probably the best Burger King experience I'd ever had.
I saw a billboard saying that they'd moved to a new location, so it's no longer out front of Rural King. Â It's further south, on the other side of the road.
They've changed to side-by-side order taking in the drive-thru, although I didn't see how that works for payment and pick-up.
The interior was surprising. Â When I entered, I couldn't see any counter or kitchen. Â They had a tv going and the dining room was decorated with a casual up-to-date wood and glass look.
Around the corner, it was the same as every other fast food restaurant. Â Beep beep beep with plenty of stainless steel to clean. Â I saw a few people working, but no one was at the counter initially. Â Somewhat quickly, the secondary person helping with the drive-thru (I only saw one window) came over to take my order. Â He took my order and then as I tried to hand him the cash, asked me to wait a minute, and came up with a different, lower total. Â I was surprised when he told me that he eliminated the small drink, as it was $1.69. Â That's a lot for a 20 or 22 oz. drink, but I didn't expect that he would do that. Â Maybe, I looked particularly pathetic and needed the extra money? Â The double-cheeseburger combo meal is somewhat expensive and the last one was almost $5.00, but I believe this one totalled $4.29 before the switch.
In any case, we finished with the cash and were having a pleasant conversation, as I was getting my drink from the traditional style multiple drink machine. Â Thankfully, they disposed with the fancy Pininfarina-designed one drink at a time machine. Â A few of the other workers engaged in the conversation and it felt odd, as if they cared, and that doesn't usually happen. Â The last time I was at the store, it was at the other location and they were friendly, but not quite this friendly. Â The drink/condiment area was in need of a fix-up, and the table hadn't been wiped for a while.
The food was fine, although the fries were at the old end of the cycle, and I heard him call for fresh fries shortly after I started to eat. Â The fries weren't at their best but they were far from horrible. Â The sandwich was fine, but I was surprised to see bits of meat on the outside of the bun.
Random acts of kindness today at Burger King? Â Perhaps. Â I also saw them helping someone with their vehicle outside. Â It was a surprising visit. Â I wish they were all like that.
