Steak N Shake

I normally love the food at Steak N Shake, but this one just doesn't cut it. One evening, we went for a late dinner and there were few other diners there. Despite that, we sat there for half an hour and no one came to even take our drink order. When a couple that arrived after us got their food and we still hadn't seen a server at all, we left. That was strike one.
Another time, we were there with a party of six. I would have expected service to be a little slower, but we had to wait an hour for our food (the restaurant wasn't full), and then two of the six orders were significantly wrong. We decided, despite the service prior to this, to get some dessert to take home. After waiting half an hour for two shakes and 3 cookies, we decided to cancel the order and cut our losses. The server met us at the register, apologized and insisted that he would get the dessert then. He got them quickly, but he also got them wrong. We ended up with two shakes (neither of which was what we ordered) and two ice cream sundaes, not 3 cookies.
I understand that things go wrong from time to time, but such bad service twice in a row is unacceptable. I don't plan a return visit.

They take forever to even make a glass of water. Their customer service is hit or miss. Many times have they messed up my order or I got something that looked like they just didn't care.
If your going to take 20 minutes to make my food, at a burger place,  I expect it to be awesome.
The shakes are awesome. I've gotten several sandwiches here that were buttered up and barely cooked. Then not cut. So they need to work on that.

We go to S & S when we have the extra money.  I used to LOVE their veggie soup, until they changed it.  Now instead of vegetable beef, it's a tomato based soup.  It's just not as good...  The steak burgers are awesome;-)  Fries are good, getting a good thick shake just depends on who's making it I guess...
