On the way back from Atlanta to Augusta I had to stop by gas and ended up stopping in Thomson. I saw the Burger Shack and decided to try them out. The building is a cute little shack that has a very country ambiance to it. There is a small wooden deck with a few deck chairs and tables where you can eat (although they're considered a take-out place because they don't have a license for outdoor dining due to restroom restrictions).

The order window is a small sliding glass door where the lady (sorry! I forgot her name) will kindly explain any questions that you may have and give you a bit of info on their business. All of the produce comes from the local farmer's market right down the road and the meat I believe is (correct me if I'm wrong) from the organic section at the local grocery store.

I ended up getting the mushroom and swiss burger which was pretty big (around Whataburger size). It tasted great. It wasn't too greasy but wasn't dry either. The fries were store brand frozen fries, but that gave it a bit of home-style cooking to the meal.

Altogether between my food and drink (bottled water) it was around $10. I was asking if they plan on opening up a store in Augusta and they said that they've been wanting to, so I am looking forward to it if they do.

Got another burger from The Burger Shack the other night - still great as always, though more than I should eat.  They told me they had fresh, hand-battered onion rings, which made my mouth water as I regretfully declined - I love good onion rings.

When we picked up the burgers, they said they had included a few onion rings for me to try. They were fabulous! Light, crispy batter and onion, wonderful flavor, perfectly done. I don't know if I will be able to avoid them next time, Dr. Bob...
