We enjoy stopping here in the middle of a boat ride for drinks and apps. We stopped on Friday (July 6) Â and also on Saturday (July 7). They were out of 3-4 of the apps and the server didn't even know what the drinks were in the frozen machine. Really? Aren't you supposed to know that kind of information as a server. On the second day, same thing. out of 3-4 of the apps and this time the server had no idea what the pear cider was that we ordered. There are posters of it hanging ALL OVER the bar. So, we enjoy Burton's but think they should be more prepared.
P.s. Try Magner's Pear Cider. DELISH!
I've been here a few times and have never been unhappy, or happy with Burton's. Their menu is limited, expensive, and the portions are pretty small. However, the atmosphere has a very "up-north-lodgy" feel, which is nice; The outdoor seating is great in the summer.
I would recommend this place to those who are going out for a drink with their friends, not to those who want a sit-down meal. Eat at home first, then go to Burton's for drinks.
This is the only restaurant where you can dock on Long Lake and the location is great- unfortunately the food and service do not live up to the potential. Â The menu isn't particularly imaginative and never seems to change. Â There are also very limited healthy and vegetarian dining options - this is northern Michigan, so perhaps healthy/vegetarian food doesn't sell at all up there. Â The service is very hit or miss depending on your server. Â We've had many instances where the order was messed up and the server/manager did not resolve the mix-ups satisfactorily. Â In one instance, a BLT was missing the B & T on one half of the sandwich (basically bread with mayo & lettuce); when we informed the owner/manager of this, he just laughed - he didn't offer a new sandwich nor did he remove the sandwich from our bill.
