Review Source:The inside is very nice and welcoming and they have an outdoor patio too. Â The food was good, perhaps a little too mild for my taste but maybe that is what California style Mexican is supposed to be like. Â Good portions at a fair price, we both had some left over to take home. The service was fine, the wait was not too long considering they were pretty full and had only 2 servers working the lunch crowd. Â Overall a good experience.
Review Source:Will never go again. I feel robbed going just once.  The food is very expensive, and forget "Southwestern" flavor; try "an American who can't cook at all's flavor." Seriously, a child can make better queso dip at home with Velveeta, jarred jalapenos, and milk for less than half the price. The salsa was just sad.  My husband got the chimichanga (can't go wrong with that, right? Wrong.), and it tasted like it had cheddar cheese in it, mild cheddar cheese to boot, and that was about it. Fried mild cheddar cheese.  I wasn't super hungry after the queso I ate just because it was expensive, and so I ordered  just the chicken tortilla soup. It was the only thing with flavor--the fool proof lime, cilantro, and black pepper in chicken broth, but they served it in a small bowl which would've counted as less than a cup's worth at other restaurants, and the chicken included was less than you'd get in a grilled chicken wrap at McDonald's.
Review Source:Quality mexican food right here. Â My chimichanga was fried to perfection and the salsa was wonderful. Â All the ingredients tasted fresh and had just the right texture. Â My server was really friendly too. Â Oh and the queso dip is one of the best I've ever had. Â It's creamy and you can actually taste the cheese in it (unlike other places) - gasp!. Â The refried beans were a bit salty but not bad either.
Review Source:I thought I had reviewed this before, but apparently that happened on Urban Spoon (blasphemy, I know!)
On my first visit I was VERY impressed with the service and the queso. However, my fish tacos were NOT my favorite. I am kind of a fish taco connoisseur, if I may say so myself. I found it to have nowhere near the right amount of cabbage or dressing. I said so on the other review.
Lo and behold, I went in here for a second visit and all this was changed. Excellent amount of yummy dressing and plenty of cabbage and cheese. Â I loved them. I'm not sure if they watch Yelp etc but it sure seems like it. Negatives from other reviews have been fixed as well. You just can't go wrong with a small restaurant that is willing to make customer-driven changes.
The salsa, I could drink it.
The queso is fresh and delicious. It is made with real cheese so you need to eat it fast or it becomes grainy as it goes back to being a solid.
The Huevos Rancheros is good as well.
I like it. It's a small, quiet place with good service and yummy, fresh food.
My only complaint??
PLEASE PLEASE get rid of the ELEVATOR MUZAK!!!
It doesn't have to be the stereotypical Mexican mariachi stuff, but I feel like I'm in a waiting room - the exact opposite of how I want to feel when I want to enjoy this delicious food.
Oh, wow! I hate that I can't find a better word than that, but I was speechless.  I was just so blown away by the freshness of the food. How wonderful to have a restaurant in Dothan...nay, the whole Wiregrass area, where fresh is the main ingredient. Not a huge menu and when I first looked at the offerings, I was less than impressed. It is the typical Mexican restaurant menu, so I wasn't really expecting much difference in the flavors. I am so happy to report that I was so wrong. The flavors were so distinct, not muddled like typical Mexican restaurant food. I had the Chili Rellanos and the poblano pepper was fresh, not canned. The flesh of the pepper had a tender crunch. The chicken and cheese filling was expertly seasoned. Oh, and I have never had a dessert better than the Mexican Wedding Cake. Everything; the food, ambiance, service, was spot on. Went by there today, hoping to have lunch only to discover that  they were not open on Sundays. Oh, well, I guess everyone is entitled to a day of rest.
Review Source:We had dinner at Cactus Flower Cafe last night. The food was very good. We got queso dip and guacamole as starters. The queso dip was grainy in texture, which may just prove their claim that much of their menu is made fresh to order. The guacamole was a refreshing pile of avacado chunks with tomato and onion. They left no doubt it had been made fresh. The salsa that came with our chips mostly tasted like onion. For dinner I got a chimichanga. It was good but could have used less cheese. My son's quesadilla was huge, overlapping the edges of the plate. My husband and older son also enjoyed their meals. One suggestion - please call the "smashed beans" what they are, namely refried beans. No one knows what "smashed beans" are. For dessert we got a piece of Mexican wedding cake and 4 spoons. The Mexican wedding cake comes with real whipped cream on top and the bottom lightly soaked in some sort of sweet sauce. We all liked it. Overall we were pleased with our experience at this restaurant. Our main complaint is the draft. It was very cold last night with an expected low of 27. Every time someone opened the door, the dining area was flooded with cold air. This means the space will also be difficult to cool in summer. I suggest to management that they flip flop the dining rooms and use the larger second room as their main space. When we go again we will request to be seated in the second room. If Cactus Flower will make this change, they will be perfect. The music was low. The furniture was comfortable with perfectly proportioned tables and chairs. The room was well lit. Welcome to Dothan, Cactus Flower! Here's wishing you many years of success.
