I recently moved to Summerland and was looking forward to checking this place out. Â I heard good things about it from friends and I learned that they carry Green Star coffee, which I love. Â I had not had Green Star since it was Red Star and served at Coffee Cat downtown, so a it had been a while!
The place does have a nice atmosphere. Â It is comfortable and would be a great place to lounge around if you had the time.
So the coffee.....it was OK. Â It was much weaker then I prefer my coffee to be. Â Again, I am coming from drinking the same roast at a different coffee shop and was expecting a more rich flavor in my cup. Â Next time I get coffee here I will order a red eye or an Americano.
I have also had food here. Â I had the organic mixed greens with chicken breast added. The chicken breast was done perfectly. Â The mixed greens was lettuce with a couple tomatoes. Â Nothing noteworthy but I just wanted fuel so it worked!
My friend and I stopped off for lunch in Summerland on our way to Santa Barbara. As we were strolling down Lillie Avenue, we saw the food towers full of beautiful greens and herbs. When we realized those greens were used at Cafe Luna, our decision for a lunch spot was made. We both ordered the organic greens with tuna and proceeded to find a table. Seating choices included inside the old house, out on the porch or to the side of the house overlooking the food towers. We found a table inside the charming old house; what a great way to start a vacation. When our salads arrived they were huge; we could have split one. The variety and freshness of the greens was fantastic and the dressing was perfect, not overdone, just a nice complement. If you enjoy the real tastes of farm to table food, pull off the 101; Cafe Luna is worth a stop.
Review Source:A beautiful cafe and amazing fresh foods and drinks! Â Cafe Luna offers a tranquil escape secluded from the hustle and bustle, yet lets you take in all the beautiful view and energy Summerland has to offer. Â I enjoyed the breakfast quiche, a chocolate croissant, and mocha during my 3 hour breakfast. Â The customer service was so nice, patient, and accommodating to me as I took my time. Â Cafe Luna made my stay in Santa Barbara memorable, fulfilling, and I left with a lighter heart...and heavier stomach!
Review Source:Really tried to like this place, but the service is very indifferent here. Good coffee, nice location, and you can bring your dog out on the patio. This morning I came here for coffee, and ordered an extra hot latte for here. I sat and waited as the day before it was brought out to me in a large coffee mug. After about 10 mins of watching the girls who were "working" inside visit with each other, I decided to go and see what was taking so long. When I walked back inside, my "extra hot" latte was sitting on the counter in a to-go cup without a lid now luke-warm at best?? The coffee and pastries aren't good enough to be treated this way! Ill take my business elsewhere!
Review Source:Three in our party, our total bill was $105. Pizza, pasta and meatloaf; 22 oz. beer and 1 glass of wine; 1 soup and 1 salad. Pizza was generous, enough for 2. Seafood pasta & meatloaf were way more than enough. Pizza was good except the completely black edge that was rock hard. Pasta was a bit overwhelming with way more seafood than one person can eat! Meatloaf is a very meaty version that was served with the best spinach and finger potato sides. I would try to get extra spinach, next time. The favorite of the evening was the caprese salad. Perfect tomatoes, olive oil, perfect fresh basil, fresh mozzarella, balsamic, and a perfect sprinkle of seasonings. With the complementary toasted baguette slices and a glass of wine it's all that's needed for a recession night out. All in all it was okay, except service which was quite sparse considering we were the only ones seated.
