I must say,I was pleasantly surprised by a quick mid-day happy hour stop with a coworker (25cent wings),that I followed up by bringing my DW a week later for dinner. We don`t expect much of `shore taverns` and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sushi at dinner (perhaps helped along by the on site sushi bar/freshness/turnover) and the homemade chix ndle soup on point. Mozzy sticks advertised as `creamy` were disappointing factory style. All in all pleased with the service & quality... DW appletini was `good`,per her and my draft beer was cold from a modest selection off 2 taps.Would return again.
Review Source:Apparently, somebody in Southern Ocean County came up with this business model: Take a great nice-sized space..Build a Bar that will attract nightlife and neighborhood regulars.. But now let's add an oversized menu of dreadful food into the mix and call ourselves "Bar/Restaurant".
Yet another very nice bar that tries to be a legitimate restaurant as well, but fails miserably.Great space, it looks like it would show some promise but unfortunately the food is lackluster and lousy. Although the complimentary popcorn basket at every table is a very nice touch. Not quite as bad as most of these places but definitely subpar
Good Lord, it's no wonder why the previous reviewers said they were drunk to enjoy this place. Â I was visiting friends here and would have rather eaten a frozen dinner. Â I knew I was in trouble as soon as the host grabbed a menu and scooped popcorn out of a bin in a bowl for me.
Sushi:terrible. Â Prime rib: big but terrible. Â NY Strip steak: terrible. Â Salad: aweful. Soup: totally out of a can and was terrible.
Hey, my coke was good :) Â I hear this place is busy because its the only place around. Â I believe it. Â Will I go back when Im around this area? Â Never, ever, which ever one is longer!
Argh, Steven S., you beat me by one day, reviewing this place.
Anyway, I've been to or gotten take out several times over the past 10 years or so, mostly for food. Â I appreciate that they play Phillies games on at least a few of the TVs; unlike most of the crowd there, I don't care much about the Yanks or Mets.
The wings I've had a few times, and are pretty delicious. Â Yesterday, though, I was there with my family for a quick dinner. Â I had the "smothered burger". Â It had sauteed peppers and onions and swiss cheese. Â Pretty good, as were the fries, and I very much appreciate the freshly popped popcorn.
I ordered the burger despite the fact that it was "sushi night". Â I never encountered sushi at a sports bar before, but that night made it a policy to not order sushi from sports bars. Â Still, while walking through the bar area, I did see the sushi chef and a selection of fresh fish, so perhaps it was legit, and safe.
All in all, it is a pretty average place. Â I'd probably appreciate it more as a bar if I were a local. Â They seem to have a lot of special events throughout the week, but I can't speak for these, since I've never been to them.
