I have eaten at the Cajun Lounge on several occasions and this place is a lot of fun. Â It is not a place for families or kids, but for adults it is a blast. Â Â The decor is a mix of Wisconsin corner tavern and supper club with a splatter of local team pennants mixed in with some random patterns. Â Â It works, you seem to have your own little compartment, so to speak. Â If you try to see it all, you go blind. Â
The staff is wonderful and friendly and I always try to sit where I can watch the cooking.  They cook on an open grill with gas and it is fun to see your dinner getting prepared.  The grill is next to the oyster shucking  bench.  One guy shucks and guy cooks. Â
If you go, make sure you order the Cajun oysters that they cook on the grill.  They are on the half sheel, with some seasoning--OMG are they good.  I usually  eat a dozen in about 90 seconds and I am trying to take my time.  This last trip  -Halloween night-- I ordered 1/2 dozen and the waitress asked what was a wrong with me?  You know that won;t work, she said, get the dozen.  I did and she was right..Yum.  Their dozen is 13 to 15 oysters.  I watched as the oysters were cooking and was actually drooling this last visit.  The taste just lingers in my body. Â
I could go on, but it is a great restaurant to eat and chat, the cook loves to talk college football, he is big Alabama supporter. Â Â The only down side, is they are only open Wed thru Saturday. Â But, if you can make a living by working 4 days a week, more power to you.
Great local bar with really good seafood. 4.5 stars!!!
I wish I could add a half star just for being able to enjoy a smoke after a delicious meal.
From the outside it appears to be a real dive, inside there are tv's galore and banners and mardi gras type decorations.
The staff were friendly and effecient.
I stopped in here while working in the area to grab some crawfish, but they were out until tomorrows delivery....just my luck.
I decided on a shrimp po boy with fries and a cold one.
Until this evening I never had a po boy with slaw on it but it was fabulous...I will stop in again before leaving town to get some crawfish and crab claws.
A little pricey but if you dont mind paying for what you consider good food......
Might be my new favorite place. Great fried crab claws..grilled oysters..great staff.. It felt like I just walked into a NewOrleans party spot.. Please don't go here! Leaves more food for me. Â Only down side is they still allow smoking in here which is the only reason it doesn't get 5 stars.. When will they learn...my wife won't go because of the smoking..
