Spent about $350 tonight taking the family to see Todd Rundgren.  I love Todd forever, but this show sucked.  Club was what I expected, weak service and food, way overpriced, but hey, to see Todd?  Doors at six, show at eight our tix say.  We get in about 6:30 and order, then find out the show will start at NINE.  OK.  So it's fucking sweltering in there and the show finally goes off about 9:15, and totally sucks.  False start, and Todd is playing with tracks, which he is fiddling with continuously.  Drummer and guitarist playing with him are never introduced and it was just a disco mess.  Tepid applause for encore brings Todd back solo to do a medley of his hits, rave style.  As drunk patrons hop onstage, security is clueless what to do about it.  They stand back uncomfortably with arms folded watching backstage while drunken 50-something women make fools of themselves dancing around onstage.  What a mess.

The Canyon Club is a great venue, considering. The parking is easy and free, but the drinks are not. $8.50 for a plastic cup of domestic beer is ridiculous. The food is mediocre, at best, and the service is pretty bad. Getting a good seat by buying dinner is a waste of money.
But you come for the music.
The sound is usually pretty good, but varies greatly depending on the band, and the sound mixer. The size of the venue is just right, and the acoustics are pretty good. You can usually see really well because the place isn't that big.

The Todd Rundgren show (7/11/13) was pretty sad. Todd has gone techno! WTF!? He showed up with just a drummer and guitarist, and was playing to pre-recorded tracks. Is this a "live" show!? Todd hardly picked up his guitar at all, and spent most of the time singing (and rapping?) terribly, and waving his arms around ambiguously. It seemed like a really pathetic, desperate attempt to be current. It seemed like he went to a rave, and said: "I want to do THAT". - FAIL -
The only hint of his previously brilliant career as a songwriter came at the encore, when he stood alone on the stage and pushed "go" on his computer, and the audience was assaulted with a techno medley of his hit songs, with Todd, still wailing his arms around, and singing badly. Just embarrassing.

I went to see the ABC concert on June 15th. Great place to see a fantastic show! The performance was excellent! Martin Fry, the lead singer,  put on a superb show! Unfortunately, none of the others were the original band members, but they did an outstanding job. The backup singer, I believe her name is Lily Gonzalez, has a wonderful voice. Even though the drive from my house is over an hour away, the Canyon Club's show was well worth the drive. If I lived in the Valley, I'd love to come to a lot of the great bands that are offered at this venue with an intimate setting. Great view of the stage!  I recommend you to check out the schedule and attend some fabulous acts of the past. A rare treat!

Live bands, not many sitting area. Full bar. Large dance floor. But not big crowd so it seems like a old club.

    The Parking: Private Lot (FREE)

Last night was amazing being able to see one of my favorite bands play at the Canyon Club.

It was a summer June night where long warm days with the sun still up at 6:30 was filled with anticipation for the nights excitement. The headline band was The GREEN w/ The Movement & The Expanders for the "Take Me On Tour" tour. This was my fifth time seeing The Green and man I knew....I knew...I just knew for ALL Roots Reggae heads out there it was going to be epic. The Canyon Club is tucked away off of Roadside Drive so when you're exiting and approaching the Canyon Club keep your eyes peeled.

Note: Plenty of parking. Canyon Club shares a big parking lot with other small businesses, but by the time most events get started those businesses close which should leave you with plenty of parking options.

Decor: As soon as you walk in they have a huge buddha sitting by the will call window (kind of random, but cool). This place is spacious. I mean huge! Having prior work experience being a part of a production company you see many different venues. Canyon Club has kind of a Rustic old Tahoe Cabin cozy feel to it. Reminds you a bit a Coach House in San Juan Capistrano for those of you that have been there too.

Staff: Friendly staff and the security aren't douches which is good.

Note: Keep in mind a lot of their ticket sales comes from Ticket Master. So once you purchase your ticket I recommend giving them a call immediately after to make dinner reservations or if you're heading there with a group too to ask them to save you a table conveniently close to the stage. It depends on the venues floor configuration, but from what I saw last night my advice should be pretty spot on.

Waitress: Once we sat down she was helpful, but as the night progressed she wasn't anywhere to be found. A couple times I personally had to take glasses and plates to the bar just to make room on our table which ideally for waiting tables is unsatisfactory.

Food: Was alright. The menu isn't very extensive, so if you're going there thinking to grab an awesome dinner then take this review into consideration. They offer Lasagna and different cuts of steak, but still might be an idea to eat dinner before arriving, then spend the $25 on drinks (If you make dinner reservations, keep in mind that there is a $25 minimum counting food and drink all together). We ordered the Peanut Chicken and Beef Skewers along with the Artichoke Dip.

Stage/Sound Staff: Definitely, you could tell they know what they're doing. Many people do not know, but these guys are the support that make concerts happen. In between bands you would see the staff helping with taking instruments on and off, line checking the sound, and ensuring the bands had the equipment they needed (electrical, cords, wires, etc).

Overall: Going there to see music that you're excited to see, then it may water down many of the cons of the waiting service. If another good band that we like had another show there we would go. 1 out of 10 a 7.5.

When you get there ask to sit in Byrd's section.  It doesn't matter how crappie the Venue is. She provides great service with a great attitude.  And funny as all hell.

For our anniversary, my boyfriend and I did what any normal couple would do...got high and went to go see a Pink Floyd cover band at the Canyon Club.

This was our first experience visiting the Canyon Club, and based on the horrible Yelp reviews, I was apprehensive about going.  Many of the complaints were about the food, but it's hard for me to understand why anyone would want to eat dinner while watching a rock concert.  I did see that Ambrosia is playing a show soon. I guess I could eat dinner while watching Ambrosia.  Also, people seemed confused about the seating arrangements.  Once again, I don't understand why anyone would want to sit at a rock concert.  Must be a generational thing.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the venue. There is seating if you can snag it, but there is also a great big dance floor near the stage if you prefer to get up in the action. The people-watching here was some of the most bizarre I've encountered.  I've never seen so many people in sweatpants at a concert before. Also, overalls seemed to be a trend. There were, not one, but two very fat men in overalls. Have you ever seen a man with no nose? I have. These are the kind of people you see at the Canyon Club, and it makes for a great show.

I give this place -5. This was the first time at this venue.  I arrived with my son and his friend, both of whom are disabled. I made sure call twice to confirm reservations, however we were not on the list. This happened to five other groups, two of the groups did not call in before the concert . They said we would be place us on the list,  seating will be found for us after 7pm if others did not arrive.  When time came, standing there for two hours she seated the two groups who did not call in, one of which came to venue after our arrival. When I requested to speak to person who was in charge, she said I found seating for you.  The only seating available was on three stools without a table. How were we suppose to eat and with the children disabilities stools would not be comfortable. We had to stand on the slippery floor which many fell on. Never will I go back!

I remember some time back when a coffee shop in Vegas was offering prime rib for $2.95. I remember a person complaining about the quality of the meat, the way it was cooked, etc. to the waitress. So the waitress replied,  as politely as possible, "Hey, what the $%^& were you expecting for $2.95?" That is how I feel about the Canyon club.

Sure the food is mediocre, the drink prices are on the high end and the ambiance of the place is not as nice as maybe the Wiltern or El Rey.  But I enjoy going here because I like the artists they book and feel a ticket price in the $35 range is well worth it. If I don't feel like spending more on drinks or food, assuming I don't mind standing, no one is to my side forcing me to( for me, Hooters is the "Force" king).
I can't say the employees are going to kiss up to you when you enter but  I have never been treated rudely or feel the bartender ever "shorted" me on a drink.

Bottom line, like the $2.95 prime rib, expect as little as possible, sit back(or stand) and enjoy.

I am in a wheelchair, and sometimes it can be difficult to move around when the venue is full of people.  I was asked by Security where I would like to sit, and I jokingly said, "Front and Center!" (knowing that it was a very difficult request with so many people in the building).  The next thing I know though, I'm getting escorted towards the stage!

Worrying that people might get upset (because they were there first), I was instead greeted by happy faces, and THEY pushed me all of the way up to the stage!

Both bands were fantastic...  Led Zepagain and Queens Nation...  It was an awesome night!

As I was getting ready to go home, I thanked all of the security guards that I could find, for making the night such an enjoyable evening for me...  I would definitely be back!

Note:  I overheard Security talking to their boys, and they actually have them monitoring the parking area so that everyone made it safely to their car after the show.  Not really necessary because the area is pretty 'safe' in my opinion...  But it's very nice to know that they pull out all the stops for their customers.  Bravo!

Where do I begin........starters.....only go here if you REALLY want to see the band playing........... If you want to sit you have to order at least $25.00 worth of their WAY overprice overcooked nasty sub-par food.......and arrive 1-2 hours before the show.....then if you want one of their watered-down drinks you have to pay $9.00 for tap beer, $7.50 for a well shot.......then you have to deal with a shitty attitude staff led by a bad attitude want-to-be gangster punk with short guy syndrome and tattoos all over his neck.  I haven't been here for years and it will be longer before I ever return.  How do places like this stay in business?  Still pissed off hours after leaving

Great place to see a calm band that doesn't require a mosh pit.  I believe you can sit at a table if you are going to spend $25., on top of the admission price, and this can be drinks and appetizers if you don't want to order an actual dinner here.

I like the dark, wood and carpet ambiance of the place. The fact that it is in my hometown is a huge bonus. I had initially hesitated coming here because of the iffy yelp reviews, but it was much better than expected. However, I would recommend skipping the VIP section. Although this section is elevated, it is further from the stage, and tickets there cost a lot more.

We have seen a few shows at this venue and enjoyed myself.  It is a very intimate setup and the audience is there to have a good time.  Parking is easy, getting in and out and 101 access is a piece of cake.  So if an act you want to see is playing don't be afraid of this venue.

When somebody you've wanted to see for 40 years comes around, you buy tickets and ask questions later, right?  Well, Mike Nesmith was doing a very short tour of the USA and his only show near Los Angeles was at the Canyon Club, so of course tickets were bought.

Afterward I read the Yelp reviews.  Uh, oh.  I was really worried about what the night would be like after reading the reviews. I was mostly pleasantly surprised.

I have to agree that the will call/hostess/ticket taker/line situation is totally confusing. I don't really think there's much of system, or if there is they don't convey it to anybody so everybody has to individually ask, and it seems like each person would come away with a different protocol.  That definitely needs to be worked on.  Or maybe I'm just spoiled by Lincoln at McCabe's.

I expected totally a totally dingy divey place when I went it.  Somebody had complained about the carpet. Oh, my gosh, I LOVE the old oriental rug quilt look of the floor. The place didn't smell bad, the air conditioning was working, and the stage looked wonderful.

For the type of venue (everybody comes in and orders dinner at the same time), the wait staff did a good job.  I expected the food to be terrible, but I'd looked at the menu ahead of time online and had settled on what I felt was a safe bet (no steak, no potatoes), ended up sharing a spinach/artichoke dip for appetizer.  Since it was 3 hours from going in until the show, we wanted to stretch out dinner a bit.  Ordered two more appetizers for dinner, the blue cheese wedge salad and the chicken satay.  It all came out perfectly timed (I'm sure it was just chance, but it did), the proper temperature and pretty good.  We also ordered drinks and they were good, small, strong and under ten dollars each. Overall, not the disappointment I expected.  Oh, but the food *was* very overpriced.

The show was wonderful.  I had wondered earlier why artists would choose the place with such dismal reviews...  I think it might be the stage setup.  BIG stage, nice lighting, good sound.  Mike's band was not enormous (keyboards, lap steel guitar, drums, bass with a keyboard/computer array, and Mike) but they had lots of room and were well miked and lighted. The stage was just the right height.

All in all, if I had the same seats, ordered the same food, and really wanted to see who was there (of course, who would go see somebody they didn't want to see?) I'd go again.  Pleasant night.

I was initially scared by the negative reviews, but all-in-all was rather nice. Food is on pricey side, selections are few, my ribeye was tender, cooked perfectly and seasoned nicely. I had a taste of my wife's veggie lasagne and thought the sauce was overcooked, but she liked it, so that's what counts. One of the people in our party had been there before, and commented that the food had improved a lot since her last visit.
tables are either banquet style or seat 6, so if you're a party of 2, you will be meeting new people. Fortunately, the people at our table were quite pleasant and enjoyable! As others have said, the place is small, so every seat is a good seat. The sound was good. I'd go back again for the right band.

The ONLY good thing is that it's a small (albeit dingy) venue and you get pretty close to whatever band/performer you come to see.  I can't think of anything else good about it.

Ticket prices are HIGH -- on par with major venues!   We bought "SRO" tickets and I was very aware that meant we would not have an actual seat but would just be 'general admission'.  I was NOT aware that 95% of the place would be sit down banquet tables and there is NO SPACE allotted for the "SRO" people.  Our tickets were not cheap and there was literally no real place to stand.  They constantly walked by to make sure you didn't encroach on the main path behind the tables.  You felt like you weren't welcome.  When I gave my tickets at entry, he didn't even speak to us!  Not even a "the bar is down there" "have a great time" "hello"....nothing!

We saw lots of food parade by in front of us and it all looked very unappetizing.

Given the prices they charge, they shouldn't make you feel like you are in the way and didn't buy a ticket.  If you MUST go see someone there, go early, grab your tiny 12" square of floor and be prepared to stick to it throughout.  VERY disappointed with the venue and let's not talk about how pitiful the restrooms were.

You have to REALLY want to see the act for it to be worth it!
Pros: Good, free parking. The bathrooms are clean. It's an intimate space so it seemed that all seats were pretty good.
Cons: The system they use for ticket pick up and hostess seating is VERY disorganized! Long lines and much confusion. They don't have enough help and the people who do work there are trained to say, "I'm sorry there's nothing I can do about that" no matter what you say to them!

We sat at our table for 20 minutes before we were waited on...even for drinks! The food was the most reprehensible, disgusting restaurant food I've ever had. I could only eat enough to do the job. No more.Salmon over cooked with ketchup on it (really), veggies undercooked, mashed potatoes gross and cold. They brought us the wrong wine. I said nothing because our table mates asked for a bottle an hour before and never got it. They didn't get their food for an hour. Ours came out but we had to eat during the first act.

I felt more like a hostage than a guest.

I did get to see BB King and his unannounced guest Kenny Wayne Shepherd though. I think the only way I'll return is if the headliner is Elvis Presley!

Best place ever to see your favorite bands!  You can see great from wherever you are.  I don't eat there, so I can't talk about the food.  Drinks are usually pretty good, sometimes a bit on the weak side.  Sure, the place is old school and doesn't smell like lavender, but you go to a place like this for the music, not the atmosphere.  The sound is awesome, lighting is good.  Crowd is fun, staff is nice.  Lots of artists will come out and sign autographs, chat with fans.  As long as the bands are there, I'll keep going!

I went to see Wilson Phillips tonight at the Canyon Club. I bought the tickets over a month ago. I actually went to the box office to purchase them and I bought the $90 VIP tickets because the man said this this would ensure front and center seating. I asked if I needed to make a reservation and he said no, that my VIP ticket purchase was the reservation. I called the day of the show to double check the time we should be there and to double check if I needed a reservation. The man on the phone sounded very short and impatient and told me when I purchased the tix I had an automatic reservation. Well, of course when we arrive at the venue they say they don't have my name and don't have any seats except on the side. Surprise surprise. I told the host that I had paid extra for VIP tickets and he told me I needed to have made a reservation and that there were no center seats left. I was outraged, but could clearly see there were no center seats so we were seated on the side.

We were there to eat dinner before the show. The waitress finally helped us after a 20 minute wait, and we ordered one chicken breast, one vegetarian lasagna with a side salad and one glass of champagne. Oh, and we asked for waters. No bread was served which I thought was pretty bad since the entrees were so expensive. My champagne came pretty fast, but that is the only positive thing I can say. The waitress never showed up again the rest of the entire night. We were there for almost 4 hours. Another server brought  us our meals, but forgot my salad. I asked a bus boy and a runner twice for water and my salad. Neither ever came. The food was horrendous. Soggy veggies, chicken was dry and hard as a rock, lasagna was cold and tasted like Stoffers. We ate our dinner without water, without bread, without my salad. It was a terrible experience. And it was a $55 terrible experience. (Not to mention nearly $200 for those so-called "VIP" tickets!)

That being said, the performance itself was excellent and we loved Wilson Phillips. But the Canyon Club was a huge disappointment and I felt totally jipped!!! Not cool Canyon!!!! I doubt I'll ever go back and I'll be sure to warn all of my friends.

I should have read the reviews.  This place is an absolute dump. I came to see The Fixx. Wow, what a ripoff. I paid extra for "VIP" whatever and ended up in the wings. What is the "VIP" for?? Place also smells old and musty.

This place needs a make over. First it is hard to find from the dark road. The sign they have has no lighting making it harder to find. Then if you buy your ticket from Ticket Master, there is no mention of having to make a reservation for dinner.

The food is mediocre at best. Nothing gourmet here or even worth eating. Service is marginal at best. Our waitress forgot our drink orders many times, and forget about asking for coffee. The club itself is dark and the furniture seems a little old. It was cold when we went and you cold smell smoke from the smokers outside.

I would be hesitant to attend another event here again.

This place seems like it has been around forever. It has a House of Blues Foundation room feel to it, with the rugs and the Buddha as you enter and the blue lighting.

It seems a bit grungy as well, and VERY well worn.

Music: I have seen a few shows and they have been great.  Don't expect to be able to have a conversation.  But DO get up and dance!  It's loud.  It should be loud!  I recommend earplugs (how old am I?)  I just value my precious hearing.

Food: I think the food is overpriced.  I could not even order since I thought it was way too much money to spend on food at a place where it seemed grungy and well worn.  We ordered artichoke dip and got red white and blue tortilla chips (it was nowhere near 4th of July so it seemed that they were leftover even if they were not, they def did not seem fresh) and greasy dip.

Seating:  if you want to have a good seat for the show, come early and drop some cash for a meal.  It is pretty awesome to have a great seat.  So if you are feeling like spending some money of dinner, GO FOR IT!

Overall, I think it is a great local venue with good show variety and food if you are hungry.  I was not happy they charged me for water as part of a 2 drink minimum.  I was pregnant at the time and I was surprised that it was on my bill.  The waitress was super understanding and took it off and even said she gets it all the time about that policy from customers.  We had a good time and I look forward to coming back for some live music.

I saw Michael Franks here - awesome show. Franks was at his finest. He sung numerous songs with  backup singer Veronica Nunn who was equally as awesome.
This is a great place for specific acts. Michael Franks was perfect in this place, his band has a smooth sound.  I wouldn't  want to go here for loud bands because the place is small and you would definitely get your ear drums beat to a pulp but if that's your thing, you're on. Also, this would not be a good venue for a group that would draw a Hollywood Bowl crowd - that would be nuts, and they do that here.

The ventilation was poor where we were in the booth seats, which are the furthest from the stage as you can get, which is not very far in this place. We arrived two hours before the show but this was clearly not early enough; almost all tables were taken and the only table seat left was behind a pole. Considering we paid for VIP tickets, it was a ripoff. Had they told us anything about how the seating was arranged when we bought the tickets it would have made a big difference, instead I was told that we would have a table reserved - but its first come first serve VIP reservation. Kind of  weasel wording if you ask me. They also don't tell you that you have to share a table.

The food was okay: chicken satay was good, wedge salad was good, french fries almost cold. Their menu has a number of good sounding steaks on but I'm not that brave. The level of service right off the bat indicated that good food was a crap shoot at this place.

The drinks are over priced. Come drunk...just kidding.

The three stars are for the Canyon Club, not Michael Franks, he gets five stars.

Regardless of its short comings, I would go back to the Canyon Club for the acts that make sense in this small place.  I would buy the cheap tickets and eat first.

I love coming here for shows... It really is a great small venue. The lines aren't ever too horrible at the bar and if they are they move you through pretty quickly.
The only horrible part is their dinner.... It's really bad wedding banquet food. The chicken is always so dry I could use it as sand paper, the potatoes as glue and the steaks are gross. We are in an era now where people want good food and expect it. I don't understand why they would think that it is acceptable to serve that. If cooking steaks is too hard, find something that isn't.

So come for the show, be smart and do dinner elsewhere.

I'm no rookie to the music scene. I frequent most of the venues in Los Angeles and Orange County, and have been a part of tours big and small. I came to the Canyon Club and have never had such a poor experience with the venue itself.

First, the show was advertised as all ages. When we arrived at the door with our tickets, we were informed that we would need to wait in an additional line to purchase drink tickets. This would be fine if they had A.) advertised this on their website or when purchasing tickets; B.) answered the phone when we called numerous times during box office hours to specifically ask about drink tickets; or C.) had told us before we had to wait in two separate lines. Logistics aside, the tickets are $10 per person. Being an all ages show, shouldn't they have been more considerate in realizing they're having parents pay $10 per kid to have soda, on top of the $20 ticket plus $7 in fees? So my $20 ticket quickly turned into nearly $40.

Once we purchased the drink tickets, nobody even checked that we had them or regular tickets before we waltzed inside. Okay, so I could have just not purchased them after all? Security sucked. At the stage entrance and green room entrance, girls were clustered trying to oogle over their favorite band boy, and had they thought about it, they could have just walked into the green room or on stage, because there wasn't a security guard in sight. When a security guard walked by, I figured he was going to his post, but nope. He just smiled at the girls and kept going. It wasn't a Britney Spears concert, but I mean, come on. No indoor posted security? What the hell?

Oh, back to my $10 sodas. There was one bartender. A venue full of prepaid drink tickets, and only one bartender. Yeah, okay...

The sound was awful for the opening bands. Way too loud and poorly mixed. I had to stand behind the stage because the speakers facing the crowd were literally piercing my ears. I can stand front row at any other venue and be fine, but I couldn't even handle being at the back of the Canyon Club. Somewhere, they were able to adjust the levels more appropriately, and I speak to you now as a woman with full hearing in tact.

Also, the bathrooms are way sketchy. I could literally see over the stall with my full face. How creepy is that? Plus, they were just your normal household toilets, so it felt like I was at my grandma's house. So weird. Also, smelly right off the bat. Don't try to tell me they opened the doors and a plethora of ladies ran in to stink the place up.

The only bright side was the parking. If you park in the shopping center side (not the street side, where Google maps will tell you to go), there's a ton of spaces. Although I sort of freaked out and thought I was going back to work when I realized it was the NZK lot... Off topic, sorry.

Bottom line: If I paid less than $10, I would have been satisfied, but for nearly $40, I feel like I got robbed.

Good room to see a show. The place wasn't set up as a banquet hall serving bad food on this particular night, just wide open space to enjoy the bands. Sound mix was okay, although there were no vocals audible for the first verse of the opening song. Seen a lotta shows in various venues but first time I've seen that happen. Dunno what went wrong there. Vocals coulda been hotter for the main act.

My girl bought the tickets online from the rapists at Ticketmaster, so she paid like a 20 buck vig on top of whatever the 2 tickets cost - even before the rapist fee they were pricey for a tribute show. Maybe because it was a Journey tribute and Journey is now a tribute to it's former self since Steve Perry left. They (the "real" Journey) should call themselves Jerney. I wonder if Neal Schon's still rockin' the curly mullet. I think he shoulda kept the 'fro. Fro what it's worth.

Beers are like 8 bucks, but whatever. I tasted my girl's gin & tonic and it was pretty strong for a small drink. I think it was like 11 bucks. The only issue I really had with this place is that it's far from where we live so I had to drive. Being sober at a rock show is a nightmare. Shoulda just got smashed and then took my chances on perishing in a fiery wreck or killing someone and going to jail. Just kidding.

There were a decent amount of chicks in the house. A single guy could probably do alright - as long as he's into the drunk chick from the 80's with the frizzy blonde hair, turquoise tiger print blouse, ripped mom jeans and high top white reeboks.

Wait... that was no chick - that was that C.C. DeVille!

    :-P

Very interesting Venue... I was very worried, after reading the Yelp reviews, that this place was going to be a nightmare. But that was never going to stop me from seeing Everlast here.
This place attracts an interesting mix of people. It wasn't overcrowded, almost mellow, but it was an acoustic show.  I like the layout of the Canyon Club. It's a pretty good sized club. Not over crowded. The staff was excellent. Very nice bartenders. (drinks are a little steep, in my opinion)
Bottom line, the night was flawless. The show was was amazing! Important thing to know, If your ticket says show starts at 9, Show starts at 9! I was shocked when we walked up to the door and heard Everlast singing at 9:15.  But overall, I saw a great show and had a great experience at the Canyon Club, and would absolutely return.

    Kind of..... wack?

Shows are good, venue is great, tickets are overpriced.
Drinks are watered down, and way too expensive.

Canyon Club is an interesting relic of a venue. It attracts a mostly older crowd, and even older acts. Which is not always a bad thing!

Every night is 9 dollars beer night...

This week The Game is playing with Lil Kim. I just like the idea of that act coming all the way to Agoura Hills to play this little venue. So! Its not all Led Zeppelin cover bands and 70s Night!

The Canyon Club is a pretty cool venue.  Dark and intimate setting with a nice size stage and sound system.

the round tables, kinda felt like I was at a Bar Mitzva, and the food..
geez the food was just pitiful.  bad wedding food, bad ass plane food, or was it that Bar Mitzva plate.
Now they charge an additional $35 to be seated and dinner is required.  all of it overpriced previously frozen crap.
They could of just asked you to "bend over" or just hand over  ( an additional $100 bucks please)

I kept thinking does the band, get a ./. Of the food/ bar tab, cuz they just made a killing.

In any event, this is a great setting for the artist, just eat before you come.

Went there for a show for the first time on sat.
It was good. The venue is beautiful, big, comfortable great location (for me) because I live in the area. The show started at 9 pm sharp!
The sound could be better and the DRINKS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE!!!!!!
Hopefully I'll go to this venue again to see a cool band or singer.
You can bring your own booze and drink outside. Just a rip off inside the venue.
Sorry otherwise , this place is very nice and upscale.

It is what it is...  Nothing more, nothing less.

The Canyon Club is a small, intimate setting to see great bands and terrific comedians.

It occurred to me that if we lived in Podunk, Arkansas we would never see an eclectic mix of artists like George Thorogood, Devo, The Tubes, Jackie Martling, Todd Rundgren, Lisa Lampanelli, The Smithereens, John Pinette, Billy Ray Cyrus, Rick Springfield, Kenny Loggins and so many more.  How fun is that?  ...Can't see that in Podunk!

Yes, the food is abysmal, and you are "forced" to get the dinner if you want the good seats at most headline events.  It would be great if the CC would drop that nonsense and just charge a premium ticket charge for early entry.  What do they make on the dinner, $20?  Just up-charge me the Jackson and let me in...  Even in the back, In the low cost seats, though, you are only 40 feet from the artist!  Many performers also do meet and greets after the show for those fans who want up close and personal.

Be prepared.  The drinks are stupid expensive for such a dive.  But I'd rather not drink, or simply get a bottled water and just watch the show anyway.  (Warning: some shows do have a minimum).  You may want to bring earplugs, too, as the space is small, and some bands really crank up the volume.  The CC sells them for $2.

I won't review the nightclub scene at the Canyon Club.  I am not into that and really haven't experienced that part of the place.  From others' reviews it sounds like a mixed bag.

Erika V is right.  The place could use a deep clean - or it might be easier to do a complete renovation.  Either way I can understand her comments.

But despite some shortcomings or annoyances, I just like having The Canyon Club in the neighborhood.  I love checking out the two cheap-a** white billboards across the freeway with all of the names of upcoming acts, and I have enjoyed many shows at the CC.  Although the venue is not LA Live, it is what it is - a great opportunity to see some great artists in a small, local venue.  Each show at the Canyon makes me thankful I'm not in Podunk.

Ok, so went to see Michael Schenker here. My first time at the Canyon and although it is a fair sized venue, it was quite full when we got there. I generally like the room and the vibe. Its got some character. Mostly in an old school jazzy dimly lit sorta way. Almost like a big living room in someone's house who has tastefully bought decor over the years. Maybe I'm givin it too much credit but I dunno how else to describe it.

Anyhow, the room is basically great but the layout is crappy. At least for the packed show I was at. There is all this seating on the floor which takes up way too much space. And for a hard rock show, I don't get why all these people wanna sit there on their fat asses and eat dinner while most people wanna get a good view and rock out with beer in hand.

Speaking of beer...a pint of Blue Moon cost me $8.50. Are you kidding me? Blue Moon is not an import, and it's generally considered the new "coca cola" of wheat/heffe sorta beers. Translation - it is NOTHING fancy at all and is not an import. In-exusably rip off. I was so annoyed I actually didn't tip and did not drink more because I did not want to support such prices. They basically lost business from me by charging so much. I'm probably not the typical customer there, but I don't think any club like this should be charging close to arena prices. Its just silly.

Now the stage was nice and the sound was loud. But the stage faces the opposite wall at a narrow width, which causes the sound to hit the back wall and bounce right back forming a nice blurry muffing effect. I realize it was probably done this way so more people can physically see the band, but putting the stage at end facing the front door would allow more of a "hallway" effect and it would sound much better. If they got all the dumb tables off the floor and perhaps raised the back area for those dining (similar to how they have it now) the space issue may not matter as much.

Ok I am basically saying they should remodel the place and I know its a tall order! But its just hard to look at such a killer space at not notice how fucked up certain things are.

Overall I do like the place, I just think it can be much better.

Oh my goodness I've never heard of this venue.  It's very cool - good layout and very spacious.

I went to a charity event on a Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised to find such a venue in a strip mall in the west valley.

It is most definitely not the best place for a fine dinner.  The food was pretty bad and it was absolutely freezing in there.  The drive home was so hard - it's more than 30 miles from LA.

Still, I plan to go back to check out a concert in the future.

The Canyon Club is a great venue. Every time I've been there, I've not only had a great seat, but always enjoy the meal - prime rib was surprisingly tasty for a supper club.

My husband and I first went there to see Don Rickles. I've never been to a supper club type venue. The experience felt so old school, sipping martinis and enjoying a prime rib meal while listening to a Vegas-type lounge singer opening act. Then... out came Don Rickles, and the room came alive. Rickles picked out the poor sap sitting next to me to drag on stage and humiliate. We sat so close we could see our seat-mate sweat from stage. But he was howling, as was the crowd.

The humiliated guy came back to our table and Don Rickles treated him to a bottle of Champagne. Now that's the kind of humiliation I can take!

The Country Club was a great venue for Rickles act, but we've been back a few times since to see bands perform and have had good experiences each time.

My biggest beef with this place is how they advertise the "show times."  On their website they tell you "show 9:00" on the email confirmation for your tickets, again it says "show 9:00."  Doors open at 6:00, but that's for dinner, so you think - okay, they stagger the dinner reservations and clear everything out by 9 pm, sounds reasonable, right?

    WRONG!!

The HEADLINER starts at 9 pm.  And 9 pm SHARP.  Maybe I've been to too many shows in Hollywood, but usually "show time" means, well, the actual SHOW time, as in that's when the show STARTS.

So my date and I had tickets to see X (for his birthday) and went to dinner first, in order to wait for traffic to die down. We were ambivalent on the first, band, but I really wanted to see the second act, so we made our way out to Agoura around 8:30 pm, figuring with parking, will call, etc.,we'd get there in PLENTY of time for band #2.

    WRONG AGAIN!

We walked up around 9:10 to a surprisingly long line, and as we got closer to the open doors, we were caught off guard by the sounds of ... X!  The headlining band!  WTF?

I asked the bartender what the deal was and he said "Oh the headliner always goes on at 9."  When I pointed out that there's a distinct difference between "headliner' and "show" he said he would pass my comments along to management... and I'm sure that's gonna do sooooo much good (not).

At least I wasn't the poor guy who got there at 10:00 (figuring he arrived at the beginning of their set) only to be charged $20 admission for what turned out to be ONE SONG!!!

Next best thing: warn my fellow yelpers - The Canyon Club ain't in Hollywood; it's in the 'burbs where the sidewalks are rolled up by 11 pm.

    Berlin!  Live!

The place itself is kinda dive-y.  Not much personality but if you're coming for the music, that's fine.  Seating by the stage and seating in the back.  A relatively large area to stand.  The place is narrow for the number of people it holds, so everyone is packed near the stage.  Well, behind the diners who are close enough to be sweated on by the performers.

I didn't try the food and managed to escape without drinking so I can't talk about those aspects.

The sound seemed fine to me.  Loud but full.

Went there  recently to see The Zombies with 2 male friends.  On this occasion we decided to go for dinner so that we could have a table during the concert.

This was one of the most over priced and tasteless meals I have ever had.  Two of us had Prime Rib and one had a steak.  All 3 cuts of meat were dry,  tasteless,  and nothing short of a hack saw would cut through the rock hard slabs of beef.   The bill was $210 not counting tip, our Prime Rib was $36 each and $9 for a salad

I gave this place 3 stars- 5 stars for the music venue itself, one star for the kitchen.   5 plus 1 divided by 2=3.  Get it.
