Decide to stop here for breakfast while making a cross country trip with my wife, baby and dog. The place may be a bit off the beaten track but that makes it that much better.
The food, service and scenic views were amazing. We were promptly greeted and sat at a table overlooking the gorgeous orchard and smokies. We had drinks and apple fritters on the table before we could even get the baby situated! The apple fritters were amazing! Had a great meal of French toast, eggs, ham and coffee. The bread for the French toast is homemade and don't think I've ever had better.
The apple fritters with homemade apple butter were delicious. So good, we ended up ordering a dozen to go.
The orchard also has a shop next door to buy other produce or jams to go.
I highly recommend this place. We ate at 20+ restaurants on our trip and this was the best breakfast by a long shot.
We were traveling to Nashville and it was time to grab some lunch. My wife and I are against eating fast food when we are traveling. We always like to try something new and usually have great experiences. We decided on Carvers Orchard and Apple House, the reviews on Yelp looked good.
It was a little further than we thought off the highway, but we decided to give it a try. We sat down and greeted quickly by our server. Our view over looked the orchard which was great. We needed a few minutes to look over the menu and our waitress came back with two small glasses of fresh squeezed apple cider and a basket of apple fritters with apple butter. That was a great surprise. The apple cider was out of this world and so were the fritters.
Our food arrived and was really good. I had the BBQ sandwich (BBQ apple sauce) and my wife had a vegetable plate. Mine was cooked perfect and the BBQ sauce was really good, a tangy flavor of apple, but also a hunt of BBQ. The vegetable plate was a hit too as all the vegetable were fresh and the bakes apples were awesome. They sure do know how to fix meals with apples!
As we left, we ended up going to their farmers market .We enjoyed the meal so much, we wanted to take some of it home with us - so we bought the apple cider and apple butter along with some fresh apples. They had other vegetable available too.
If you want to pay with a card, you have to bring the bill back to the restaurant and pay up there. Not a big deal, but if in a hurry, it's good to know.
it was out of our way, but worth it! We would come back again for sure. So, if yo have time, check them out, the food is hot and fresh with great service...you'll come back too.
WOW!!!!
Finding this place was a huge plus to my vacation. After a day rafting in the area 2 of our guides recommended this place. I figure nice a place where the locals go. Boy were they right. I am not sure I will say enough good things about this place in the review.
A little out of the way and very scenic is how I would define the drive. Once in the restaurant a confused cashier asked us how was everything. I said I will tell you in a little bit. He then realized we had just walked in behind the line of people checking out. The waitress was pleasant and brought us some apple cider and some apple fritters with cranberry apple butter. I prob could have just eaten this for my whole meal. it was so good.
We ordered chicken pot pie and fried chicken respectively. Both were home made and delicious. They came with sides which for mine were apples, and mashed potatoes. All of this food was of the highest quality and freshly made. I am so glad we found this little out of the way piece of heaven in the form of an apple orchard.
This is a must do if you are in the area, rafting, or even in Gatlinburge/Pigeon Forge area. As well as one of the biggest highlights of my vacation in the Great Smoky Mountains.
This place was great, especially for apple lovers! Â My family and I took my grandma out to dinner here upon the recommendation of one of the nurses at the assisted living center. It was our first restaurant experience in Tennessee. It was pretty easy to get to because it's just along a couple of main roads ("highways") and there's a big, lit up billboard right at the entrance. The restaurant is nestled in a foothill of the Smokey Mountains and had a fantastic view from the dining room. We could see mountains, horses, and their apple orchards.
The food and service were both excellent. The waitstaff was incredibly friendly. We felt the southern hospitality for sure. We were served their own apple cider and apple fritters with apple butter. Amazing. We all ordered large glasses of the apple cider. Their soup of the day was vegetable soup, which was delicious. I ordered the country ham with mashed potatoes and fried apples. The mashed potatoes may have been too salty for some, but I loved them. I didn't notice the saltiness while eating them with my ham. The fried apples are a specialty and should not be missed! The grilled chicken was a little plain and sort of average. The chicken and dumplings were excellent. The chicken pot pie was also delicious. The rainbow trout had good seasoning, but was a little overcooked. The green beans were possibly from a can. The homemade apple dinner rolls were also good. They just had a hint of apple and were quite buttery on the outside.
We were also offered some delicious-sounding desserts, but we were way too stuffed to have any. We asked if we could have some of the fried apple pies to go and our waitress said we could!
Their shop is fantastic. We bought two jars of apple butter and some honey. If we had been spending more time here, we would have bought a gallon of the apple cider. Too bad they didn't come in half gallon sizes. We also would have bought some fresh fruit and some of the various types of apples. I recommend to anyone going to Cosby, TN!
I am giving this place 5 stars because of their super friendly service. Â They were a bit understaffed when my wife and I visited, but they made sure at every possible chance that the waitress would get to us. Â We really felt they appreciated us dinning with them that evening. Â
The apple fritters and apple cider was amazing. Â The main course however, was above average for us. Â My wife got the 4 piece fried chicken and I got the pulled pork. Â I thought the pork was good but a little too sweet for my taste buds. Â The fried chicken was nice and moist but didn't have much of a taste. Â When we choose to visit the Smoky Mountains again, we would sure go back to this place. Â We actually came back the next day for the store they have adjacent to the restaurant to buy a gallon of that delicious apple cider.
The service was rather, um, hectic, and the breakfast is well-prepared, but it is breakfast. Â Standard breakfast fare, but quite good. Â But the market itself is lovely. Â Tons and tons of apples plus peppers, squash, sweet potatoes, onions, eggplant -- all beautiful and very reasonably priced.
Review Source:This is the only place we ate during our Smoky Mountain trip that was worth coming back to. Â So, we did - and it was just as good the second time around. Â We also picked up some fruits and veggies from the famers market next door and some delicious candy from the candy store. Â One stop shopping - love it! Â Our party of 7 had everything from soups, salads, and main courses and everyone was very happy with their food. Â The apple fried pie for dessert was great. Â The peach cobbler was good - not as good as my grandmas but that is just how it goes. Â Skip the hype in Gburg and make sure to eat here instead. Â (We tried the "nicer" places in the city and paid double what we did here for much worse food!)
Review Source:I came here for my first meal of my Tennessee vacation in the Smoky Mountains, and I was a little bit unimpressed. The great reviews and fact that I wasn't staying too far made this a nice spot to check out on a Friday night around 7pm. Billboard signs down the road and the light up arrow sign just outside the driveway made this super easy to find. That is a bonus, if you're not familiar with the area.
The meal starts out with a cup of apple cider and fried dough balls with apple butter to dip. That was fresh tasting and enjoyable with the obvious theme. My boyfriend and I both ordered the 4 piece fried chicken dinner that comes with soup or salad and two sides. They also warn in the menu that you should allow 20 minutes to make. That was about right, but we weren't left waiting, as the waitress quickly brought the salad course. All the food was fine enough, but not amazing. The chicken was a bit greasy, green beans plain, and mac and cheese about average. I liked the mashed potatoes I stole from my boyfriend's plate and in hindsight probably should have ordered the side of apples. Toward the end of our meal it was nearing 8PM and we felt very rushed to get out.
I recommend this to families, as I see in other reviews that picky eaters love it. You won't get very uniquely tasting southern type food that I was hoping to get. Until being sort of rushed out, I felt like the service was quick and good enough. The host/cashier was especially friendly to everyone. He knew many people by name, and lots of older individuals and two families seemed like regulars. I believe the innkeeper at our B&B mentioned buying apples at Carver's for our apple pie making class, so I also recommend checking out the store, which my experience doesn't cover.
If you love quality fresh food, then this is the restaurant for you. Â Worth the drive from Gatlinburg - great prices, very friendly service, wonderful with kids and incredibly clean. As my picky three-year-old would say, "This is the best food ever. Can we come here for breakfast too?". Highly recommended.
Review Source:This place has a great old-fashioned farmhouse restaurant vibe. Â The meals are pretty cheap and they come with SO MUCH food, by the time my main course came, I was already full! Â There's a lot of apple-themed food-- each entree comes with apple cider, apple fritters, and apple-cider rolls, as well as salad/soup and two sides. Â Most of the food was really good. Â The chicken strips, fried apples, cider, and fritters were fantastic, and the corn and chicken pot pie were good. Â I (and the rest of the people I went with) was not too crazy about the green beans and peach cobbler, but overall this place was really really great! Â Highly recommended!
Review Source:My family comes here about once a year during the fall to take advantage of the beautiful surrounding vistas and good home-cooked meals. This was my first time, but I can say I thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't really been in a rural area in a while and it was classic east Tennessee. The people were friendly, helpful, and very country.
They have a little store beside the restaurant that sells fruit and vegetables with a heavy emphasis on apples (obviously, being an apple orchard). Prices are very reasonable at $20 for most bushels of apples.
The restaurant had very good food. Better than Cracker Barrel and not a chain: double win! The only thing was that a large group on a tour bus got there just before us and the staff was visibly a little frazzled. You get apple fritters and a little slightly-bigger-than-a-shot-glass filled with some of their apple cider. It was very tasty.
I didn't mind it very much, but being 24 years old, I think I was younger than everyone else by about 40 years. (just to give you a sense of what the vibe is :))
Nice family restaurant located on an orchard. When in Gatlinburg and you want a more traditional home cooked meal away from the hustle and bustle give them a try. Apple fritters and apple butter along with a glass of apple cider is brought to every table. Try the chicken pot pie! Â Also located onsite is a store with jams, apple butter, vegetables, and of course apples.
