I had dinner here a couple weeks ago and the food was okay. Â I had the Butternut Squash Ravioli and the actual raviolis were great but I didn't care for the super sweet sauce. Â (The menu did mention that it was topped with a drizzle of maple syrup - I would probably order this meal again, and just ask them to skip the drizzle.) Â Three people at my table who were eating different dishes with marinara said the sauce was way too spicy, but everyone who ate the pizza raved about it.
I would give this place another try, but not with a large group. Â I thought the service was crazy slow and just overall really chaotic. Â For example, we were there for an hour before anyone took any food orders. Â Also, after the meal orders were taken no more drink orders or refills took place. Â Although I suspect our servers weren't very experienced, they were super nice. Â No one in my family complained about the service, and everyone from the area said that this place competes with just one other restaurant for Best Italian in Marquette, MI.
Pleasantly surprised and considering the Yelp overall rating I recommend you visit and form your own opinion. Â The garlic bread is the best I've ever had because the loaf tastes and smells so fresh and the garlic flavor is just the right amount. Â Don't be alarmed by how much butter is used/soaked into it...just allow it to drain and then dig in but save room for your main course. Â I was able to try the sirloin tips, fillet, pork fillet, lasagna and lobster ravioli. Â I must admit I was impressed with how perfectly all the meats were cooked to the desired doneness *and* how tender all of them were. Â Literally one could almost cut them without a knife. Â Â In addition, I was expecting the lobster ravioli to be made with imitation meat and mostly cheese but was happy to see they were filled with true lump lobster and the dough tasted homemade. Â The lasagna side was a great size for the value but I wasn't impressed with the overall flavor. Â Overall nice value for the service and quality food!
Review Source:Went here during NMU Family Weekend. After hearing rave reviews from other families, we were expecting much better. The food was good, but not fantastic and certainly didn't live up to the hype. I did appreciate the option to get dinner portion, a la carte portion, or small a la carte portion. The garlic bread that people praise so highly is also good but not fantastic; a large piece of bread, very garlicky and cheesy, but a little greasy. Service was good but nothing special; perhaps it's better when the place isn't so packed. They don't take reservations for parties smaller than 6, boo.
