We used to be a big fan of Ceja but our last trip to the tasting room was a disappointment. When we had visited in the past, we had received a lot of friendly and personal attention, as well as some extra wine pours during the tasting. Now, the tasting room is a lot more commercialized, with "flights" for sale that include the wines that are not on the tasting list. So if you ask to taste something not on the list, they ask you to buy the flight that has that wine available. This time around, our pourer seemed tired and bored, and rattled off a rehearsed description for each wine. The kicker, though, is not only the fact that tastings are not waived with a purchase any more, but that you can't get just one tasting waived. You have to buy TWO tastings, and they are only waived with a purchase of $100 or more. Talk about a ripoff. We had purchased one flight, one tasting, and two bottles of wine, and I had to haggle to get even the one tasting fee waived. That is not the hospitality I remember from Ceja. Also, the quality of this year's wines have declined from previous years. Too bad, but I think we will be trying other options during our next trip to Napa.

Ceja tasting room in downtown Napa was our first experience and our best after visiting other wineries. The host was very knowledgeable and great conversationalist he also took the time to educate us and mapped out other wineries to visit. We liked it so much we went back to thank him. His suggestions were spot on!

I recently open a Yelp account to share my experience at The Ceja Vineyards Tasting Salon in downtown Napa. Ii visited the tasting salon on May 26 and wrote the reviiew on May 27. I did enjoy the wines and the great service by Edgar. Today I discovered that my previous review of Ceja and another review that I did for Bask restaurant in SF are been filtered. I do not know the reason for that. The Ceja review was a long one, but that is the way I write. Shame on YELP, I will be canceling my account shortly. I just want to let you know what is going on. I wonder why are they filtering good reviews? Anyway I did enjoy the delicious Ceja wines and the awsome setvice by Edgar.

We found the service and ambience nice enough, but the wines were mediocre at best. We paid around $20 for two tastings, but didn't enjoy the wine enough to purchase. It's on OK place to drop in if you need to kill time, but nothing special.

Our group was completely ignored while the employee flirted with a single girl on the other side. It was disappointing because a few people in our group bragged about this place all day and we must go here.

This was our last stop of the day and made us all very upset the rest of the evening.

I bought a groupon for Ceja which was a great buy.The manager Mike was extremely knowledgable & super friendly. I really enjoyed my time there learning about all the different wines and the delicious cheese platter. I also met one of the founders of the winery who was very gracious and welcoming. The wines were delicious and it was a relaxing atmosphere. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a great selection of tasty wine & wants to learn about some history.

Our service by Edgar was very sub-par, sitting at the bar. He was distracted the entire time. Yes, they were swamped on a Saturday, and busy busy don't even begin to describe it. But we just couldn't make eye contact with him, had to ask for water, etc. Never checked in on us.

    Disappointing.

As for the wines, ehhh.. we weren't too impressed with either cab in our trio flight, and the merlot tasted like any pedestrian merlot. Annette's chocolates were paired with our tastes, and without it, the elevation factor would have been wholly amiss.

If you're coming in a group, only one large table near the back. Set-up of the "salon" is ok.

PS Despite having tipped him and on our way out the door, STILL!!!! I could not have caught his attention. should have saved that tip and given it to Jody at Silenus... silly me.

Edgar Solis was our host for the tasting. http://www.yelp.com/biz_… He was very pleasant and represented the family very well. The line-up of wines is solid. Lots of good stuff here to try against your palate.

They are buiiding a tasting room out near their Carneros vineyards. ThAt should help get the name of this winery more in circulation.

Edgar provided us with some free tasting coupons to other vineyards. That is a smart move.

The wine tasting is a lot of fun. We had Mike as our host and he made things great. He was very welcoming and happy as both a server and a person. Definitely a cool guy to work at a place like this. The wine samples were good. We sampled a few different wines ranging from light to dark. I am new to wine drinking but I didn't feel like a novice here. It was very relaxed and cozy. The cheese plate sampler was good too. There was a creamy cheese made from I think it was sheep milk and it was very good. I wish I had come here a tad hungrier though! I definitely give this place a thumbs up.

Really like this place. Wine is always good. Employees are friendly. If it gets a little busy, service gets a little slow, so plan to kick back and relax a bit. I like to drop by here every time I visit Napa.

Really didn't care for this place. We came in on a Sunday afternoon. The person who poured our wine was more interested in hanging out with her friends than informing us of Ceja vineyards wine.

I will say that they were very kind in that my husband change is mind and right after ordering a white wine tasting he wanted a flight and they obliged. They also did give us a taste of red wine and some chocolate syrup from Annette's that was AMAZING!

The wines were nothing to write home about. Service was ok. There are plenty of other places in Napa to wine taste. I wouldn't rank this one very high.

Did not think much of this place at all. Wine was so-so at best, and the decor was meh. Forgettable, but not terrible.

We were very impressed with Javier and his knowledge of not only their wines but competitive wineries in the area a well. We purchased a bottle of the merlot with the intention of taking back home, sadly it never made it, but it was great. BTW our visit was in mid-May, great time to go.

This is not a winery, but a tasting lounge located in downtown. The wine was nothing special, & the service was slow because the place was pretty full. We elected to stand squeezed in at the end of the bar rather than take a seat that opened up halfway through our tasting because we were convinced we would have been forgotten had we not been in front of their faces next to the cash register.

We were looking forward to the "art gallery," however this small business is the size of a coffee shop and the art consisted of some framed photos near the bathrooms. This was our second least favorite stop on our wine tour, only because we received such negative customer service at Beringer. It was definitely the least impressive. Only plus was a 2 for 1 tasting coupon on the Wine Finder app.

Stopped by Ceja for the first time last weekend while in Napa. Customer service was excellent, pours were nice and the wine was great. I'll be stopping by again when I'm in downtown.

This place is great! The best wine in Napa. Vino de Casa Red Blend is my new go to wine. The people that work here are always extremely nice and are very educated on their product! Mike is always such a pleasure to sit and chat with. While you are here head down the street to Bistro Sabor where you will have the most amazing food experience in Napa. Their food paired with Ceja wine is the ultimate treat! Looking forward to going back soon.

We had the pleasure of chatting with (and being introduced to the wines by) Ms. Ceja herself. She is a supremely talented and knowledgeable woman who worked her way up from nothing to running one of the tastiest wineries in Napa valley. She was extremely thorough and enthusiastic about answering all of our questions, and it is very obvious that she has an incredible passion for wine and everything about the process of making it.

The wines are very unique. The flavors remain very true to the grapes and are typically light on oaking and additional processing (e.g. lacto-fermentation). It took a bit too long between pourings, though -- we appreciated that Ms. Ceja was busy talking to a variety of guests, but there were several other servers who didn't appear to be doing much else and yet we found ourselves waiting quite awhile for our next pours.

The Carneros pinot noir is amazing. It was our favorite wine there by a long shot!

Though the visit took a bit long, we were generally very happy with this stop.

Merlot is good, Syrah is not. There's a tasting fee which is NOT waved if you buy a bottle. Not prompt service. ! The place is cute, would really benefit from better service. In both of our tastings we didn't drink any of the Syrah because it tasted like band aids. You would think they would want you to love their wines & let you try something else, but they didn't even take notice or ask if we liked it. Won't be back. Boo

The tasting room was nice. The wine pourer was pleasant and attentive. The wine tasted good. The parts I did not like was the price for a taste. It is ironic that for me the more generous the winery or tasting room is with the tastes the more I am apt to buy...

not to mention the fact that four of the six in our group work with one of the family members and they didn't even acknowledge or ask us about it whe we told them... family politics??? Nice place but wasn't impressed enough to go back or buy the wine...

AMAZING!!! Ceja Vineyards is absolutely amazing. My fiancé and I were taken there while with Beau Wine Tours. The place is absolutely fantastic to include the ambiance and outside areas. But what truly made our trip was the tastings with the President and Owner, Amelia Moran Ceja. Amelia was so incredible, we truly felt like we became a part of the family over our visit there with the tastings. The wine as well has quick become our absolute favorite, to where we became club members.

I could not think of a better winery to visit on a trip to the Napa area. We are looking forward to our next trip to Napa to visit our friends at Ceja vineyards, along with dining at their related restaurant in town at Bistro Sabor. The food there was amazing, and best of all they serve Ceja wines.

THANK YOU Ceja Vineyards for an amazing time!!

Had such a great time here. Came for a day of wine tasting, drank here first, and it was the best place we went to all day!

Our server was very knowledgeable and down to earth. Liked to chat with us while our group of 5 sampled. We all really enjoyed probably 5 out of the 6 wines we tasted. Even after evaluating the place after a day of tasting, we all really enjoyed Ceja the most.

The interior was big enough to support us all at the bar, and a few other parties over by a nice couch lounge. We weren't rushed which is a nice change of pace from other tastings.

Oh Syrah... you tickle my palate with delight. And after 5 different wines I've tasted tonight, YOU are the one I choose to come home with me.

    * Customer service was second to none. We were educated about the history of Ceja Vineyards, and were enlightened to learn the scents and flavors of each glass we consumed.

    * Spanish olives and cheese platter... a palate cleanser, and delightful compliment to reds AND whites.

    * The 4% alcohol content CHOCOLATE SYRUP made especially for CV's Wine Salon (using their wines, of course) is a must-have for sexy nights at home. I've since enjoyed dipping a multitude of fruits into my heated dish of chocolate wine... and I've savored every last silky bite.

The tasting room is cool, you can taste or order by the glass. Has a lounge feel in he back and over all a nice place to relax and sip on some vino.

As for the wine it was alright, the Sauvignon blanc was a 2007 and nothing special. Figured they were moving inventory that's why we had the '07 whites. The Carneros Pinot was fine, try the version they make from grapes from Sonoma its MUCH better. They gave us a special treat a pour of Merlot and its was good and then they pushed the Syrah.

The only thing I did not like is the folks behind the counter were all about treating every customer as a moron rather than gage if they know anything about wine. I really don't need to know that there is a difference between white and red wines in terms of color.

Plus I don't much care if the family was in an article in some unknown magazine, but these was the guy showing if off to all who cared to pay attention.

If you are in downtown napa stop by, its not a destination, so if you happen to be by it, good for you.

I have known about Ceja for years and visited them many times but I am just finally writing this important review.

First, I had an excellent first impression. I ventured there with my girlfriend at the time and we kind of stumbled into one of their club parties. They were serving little quesadillas with the wines and it was a beautiful day. They could not have created a better first experience. The staff was friendly and social and drinking with us and in such a celebratory mood. I left there wishing the experience could have continued longer.

In terms of the wines: You are in Carneros, so as usual, expect Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. These are all great wines and priced right and seem true to the Carneros region. As with any Carneros wines expect a slightly higher acidity and exciting flavor profile than from upvalley. They also do a Sauv Blanc and a Cabernet and I think they get the fruit from other areas. Overall the wine quality is excellent and if you can you should try to visit their spot in their vineyards in Carneros.

Love this lil place in downtown napa! It had a nice, small yet intimate feeling.

When I mean small, it is small. You walk in and there is a bar on your right, just sit down and make yourself at home. The server that we had was very nice and made great conversation. He definitely knew what he was talking about and I appreciated the time he took to tell us about all the wines.

The pricing was decent around $12-15 per tasting.

Though I am partial to white wines, they had some great red wines, with a nice bite!

Loved Ceja's little cozy winery tasting/lounge in downtown Napa!!!! Came here yesterday on my exploration of Napa Downtown, and was provided excellent service. Though there were two couple of people ahead of us and only one staff he was able to accomodate us and talk to us while still attending to the other two groups of people. I thought he was excellent in explaining the wines to us and he was also very friendly. The wines were pretty all good except the last one- because it was a hard red!!!! I'm not a red wine drinker so my opinion may be biased. But the other 2 red wines my tummy was able to tolerate- so that means they were excellent.

What I also loved about this place is the artist showing! I can't rememeber what the name of the artist, but he is an amazing craftman! He works with metal, wood, and other materiala. The art is amazing! For art lovers like me, drinking wine and admiring such a lovely place is incredible- especially since I really wanted to VISIT the Napa Art Musuem and the Di Rosa Preserve but it was closed this PRESIDENT's DAY!!!!!!!! (oh well- I have to plan trip there next time)......

Also interesting is that this place offers Salsa on Saturday nites! So, I am coming back here definitely for the salsa lessons as well as another time enjoying winetasting and admiring the artwork....The guy said the art pieces change too, as people buy them.

A very nice tasting room space and the winery has a nice story and family behind. They have Spanish snacks here too!

I found our pourer a bit boring but friendly.

We decided to stop by Ceja's downtown tasting room on a whim and I'm sure glad we did. Since this was only our second stop of the day with plenty of other winery stops to come, our group of 4 decided to share the flight of reds and the flight of whites. The whites were pretty good and I thought the reds were better. The rosé was really good and their Cab was one of the better ones I tried over the weekend. I would recommend trying the flights, especially since you get double the pour per glass compared to a regular tasting.

The tasting room itself is very nice and has a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Overall the service was pretty good, although our pourer was not as personable as some of the others we had at the other wineries we visited.

One really cool thing about Ceja is that they offer free salsa lessons on Saturday nights. How awesome is that? You get to come in, sip some wine, and have a blast learning how to salsa dance... for free! Unfortunately, I was the only one out of my group that wanted to go, so I was sadly outnumbered and didn't get to try it out. Next time I would really like to give it a try... especially since it's free and there's really not much else you can do in Napa after the wineries close.

So, if you're strolling around downtown Napa, definitely stop in and give Ceja a try! And if you're with an outgoing bunch of people on a Saturday, go get your groove on and try their salsa lessons!

Good place to be on a Saturday night.

We paid them a visit a couple Saturdays ago. Missed their Happy Hour Wine Tasting but still ordered a few flights of their reds as well as their cheese plate. The server was really friendly and was happy give us suggestions for pairings. I became a fan of their Merlot.

As we tasted the wine we had an opp to browse their collection of displayed art from the local community. It's a nice added bonus.

Soon after their Happy Hour, they continue the fun with free Salsa Dancing Lessons. It's great for anyone - beginners to the super-smooth.

Tip: It's a small place. If you visit with a group larger than four it's a little hard to find a seat, especially if the bar is full. But they'll do their best to accommodate you.

We were hosted by Michael who was very pleasant and great at telling us the history of Ceja and knowledgeable about the Napa community.

We stayed for quite a while and during that time, tons of people stopped by to taste, buy wine, and try the food. We really liked the Chocolate Syrup made with Ceja wine and the Cheese plate is definitely worth the price.

They have some cool art hung on the walls, which apparently gets rotated on a monthly basis. They played really good soft Latin music with varying genres.

We're even considering joining the Ceja Wine Club since we are somewhat local, and would be able to take part in the quarterly wine parties and get some great wines in the process, too.

Finally, they have Salsa Saturdays, which we plan to hit up tonight.

My mom and her friends are members of Ceja and continue to be fans of their family, business, wines and establishment. We stopped by the new tasting room (now a year old) over the weekend after attending a pickup party across the street and were all impressed with the new place. Similar feel to their original location, kind of like you are sitting at home drinking wine with friends. The wines are delicious and the staff are friendly. The decor is beautiful and happy. I'm not sure I would drive all the way back to downtown Napa just to go there, but if we had to, for sure I would sit on the comfy couch and enjoy some yummy wines.

I still love their original location! Nothing beats that place and their amazing kitchen!!!

So we called Ceja TWICE to learn where their Napa location is, because my WINO friend (HI GREEN BUNNY!) is totally a member of their wine club (aka DRUNK CLUB and also every other wine club in Napa because she's hella drunk all the time HI AGAIN GREEN BUNNY!!!!) and by the third time we forgot where they were located so I turned to my trusty cell phone friend Google (WASSUP 46645!!!) and texted them to figure out that they were indeed located on First Street in Napa and they were indeed open for us to get more drunk , I mean taste, at.

So after 4 hours of drinking in the hot Napa sun, my 3 hot babe friends and I were like "let's do this, bitches!" and headed over to drink more at Ceja.

I pretty much almost threw up in my mouth the moment I got there because I had to like climb over these drunk blond bitches from Walnut Creek and were totally acting like princesses in this modern arty air-conditioned space in downtown Napa when DON'T YOU KNOW I AM THE HOT BITCH PRINCESS IN TOWN AND I OWN THIS PLACE no I do not I am humble and modest and STOP DEFANNING ME SLUTS (in the most effectual way possible) I LOVE YOU!!!!

So we went in and we sat at the bar and I'm talking to the wine guy behind the bar, and I am like BITCH I NEED A GREY GOOSE SODA SHAKEN NOT STIRRED STAT and he is like, this is a wine bar you drunk whore, and I am like DO NOT TEMPT ME I WOULD LOVE A TASTING OR MAYBE SEVEN AND I'VE HEARD LOVELY THINGS ABOUT YOUR REDS.

And then I realized we were late to dinner so I hella just ran outside and put my hand on my hips all diva style and I'm like, listen drunk bitches (HI MARIA D!!!), we gotta get to Ubuntu and if you're not out here in 30 seconds YOU JUST RUINED CHRISTMAS FOR ME and the thought never occurred to me that you know, WINE COSTS MONEY and I forgot to pay. But it turned out OK because my slutty friends gave their number to some guy who "works in the wine industry" (AKA WINE PIMP!!!!!) and he was kind enough to pay for all our tastings plus two more bottles and so WE OUTTA THERE HOES because WINE COUNTRY WITHOUT WINE IS JUST COUNTRY.

Anyways, for the useful information, Ceja is a Latino-owned family vineyard specializing in bold reds and a bold and almost seductive pinot noir with a fruit-forward finish that is not too sweet and I imagine would pair itself well with a mushroom or duck-based appetizer.

In conclusion, please drive me to wine country because I am an excellent guest and will make an INSANE CRAZY GOOD dance party mix to sing along to for the drive and probably sober up in time to drive your drunk ass home while you take your shoes off and hang your feet out the window of your car across the Bay Bridge while waving your FasTrak around maniacally (hi LAURA B!).

A nice outpost for a very nice wine family. This tasting room is part bar, part PR opportunity, and an all around great place to stop while wandering the city of Napa. Yes, they charge a tasting fee. Welcome to Napa, where thousands come simply to consume and never purchase and wineries would quickly pour all their profits down the throats of the ravening hordes if they didn't charge for the product.

Remind me next time to actually plan for the salsa dancing (Saturday evenings!). Not that I can actually DANCE salsa - I just like to watch and sip wine.

This is a tasting room Ceja has set up for lounging and wine tasting. It's not the vineyard itself, that's another location. This tasting room is really pretty and comfortable, with paintings or photos (they rotate the art) on the walls.

The wine is fine. We liked the Cab and the pinot. The service was uneven. The pourer was nice and talkative, but his pour was on the stingy side and we asked for a plate of olives but we never got it. You have to buy a minimum of $50 (I can't remember exactly, but I know one bottle is not enough) to have your tasting fee waived, and buying just one bottle will not do it. Also, he told one customer that he was not doing the flights listed on the menu, but was pouring what he had up at the bar; but later, for another couple who walked in, he allowed them to order the flights on the menu.

If you are looking for the Vineyard experience, go to their Vineyard instead.
