I am sad to write this. A few nights ago my wife and I went to Centerfield. Her food came out late, but other than that the services was indifferent - which is generally how I like it. He did not bug us, but he got us everything we needed. I got a couple beers, we got an appetizer and a couple of meals. They were pretty good, so with our kid out of town, we decided to go again last night. Now one more detail you should know is that our first meal was $35 and I tipped $9. That seems fair, right?
So last night it was pretty busy. I served tables for years and understand being busy. It looked like we were going to get the same server. Then he walked by. Then walked by again. And again and again. He made eye contact, I tried to say something and he quickly darted by. I sat there with my wife for 20 minutes without a menu or so much as a "hello, I'll be with you in a minute." Now, I can tolerate a lot of things, but this was rude. I feel disrespected. I tried to call the manager at 1PM today but he was too busy to take my call. I understand they might be busy, but it is not my job to work around their schedule at this point.
I just want to add this. We were planning on a fun night out without the kid. Instead, we went to freaking Applebees. Do you know what sat next to us? A CRYING BABY!
I even had made plans with a buddy for happy hour at Centerfield next week. Oh well. If I want to be treated rudely while I drink beer and hear a kid screaming, I can just stay home!
I am bewildered at all the raves this place has been getting. It's a sports bar, why would I expect to find good food here if everyone has so much good things to say about it?
Honestly, we gave this place 3 tries and every single time, somebody manages to mess up the order.
The 1st time: we ordered to go the fries that came with bacon, cheese and the whole deal. I mean, how do you mess that up? How about serving cold, soggy burnt fries with a scoop of melted can cheese in a box after taking 20 mins to heat them up in a microwave. What happened to the bacon and all the other toppings that we paid for? Did you just "forget" or are we going to rack this up as a new-joint mistake and let it pass? Silly us, why would we expect to get what we ordered. Â
2nd time: Chicken nachos and Pizza. While the bbq chicken pizza was too sweet, that wasn't the most unappealing part. It takes us less than 2 minutes to get home, so as soon as we open the togo box, why am I surprised to bite into a soggy chip and cold chicken? Let's just say we should have put that horse out of its misery then and there.
There is no going back this time guys. Because the 3rd time is definitely a charm. Maybe we screwed up the last two times by taking the food out of the restaurant and that's why there was no sparkle like everyone else who boast about eating there. Alright, let's order a burger with no onions to put any doubts behind us. The burger was bland and guess what?! Loaded with onions.
Next time we even think about giving this place another try, we're just going to make a stop at Guns & Gals first to buy a gun to shoot ourselves in the head, it would save us the shame of being a fool again.
Been there twice now in the evening, food is not good. Ordered the Mushroom burger and I had to put on reading glasses to find a bit of mushrooms on it. I think I saw something that was suppose to be a mushroom. I had read early how wonderful the burgers were, I order a cheese burger before on a previous night, they are not that big as described in a review, didnt have any lettuce tomatoes etc. and the price did not fit the food. Server never asked me if I wanted anything on my cheeseburger prior to order. I will not be going there in the future for food.
Review Source:WTH Kyle, TX?!?!?! Â When did you start making awesome food?
After a long day of drinking, we went there the next morning for brunch.
The service was pretty good and bartender was pretty attentive.
Now for the pinche food-that was great. Â Tried the Chicken Fried steak: Â was topped with a strip of bacon-yes, bacon-and gravy. Â Let me tell you, I'm rubbing my tummy just thinking about it-delish! Â It was paired some some really great cubed potatoes some outstanding green beans.
The other thing we tried was the breakfast pizza. Â Imagine a loaded omlet (bell peppers, bacon, tomatoes, onions, shrooms on a this great great pizza bread. Â Crazy but it works oh so well. Â You just have to try it.
I'm ready to go back and check out any other creative menu items they may have.
Visited this past Friday night (Feb. 15). The good points: nice happy hour deals and the fried pickles were probably the best I've ever had. The burger was good but could have been better.
No legit cheeseburger should have American cheese. It's simply disgusting. If I had known it was going to be American cheese, I would have ordered the burger w/o cheese. I guess I shouldn't have assumed that better cheese would be involved. The fries were thick, greasy, and limp. I'm still on the fence about those.
The service was extremely slow. There were people waiting to be seated and we were willing to leave but it took at least 15 mins to get our check and get out of there after we were finished eating. There were many long periods where we didn't see our server at all.
That being said, I'll definitely go back because I think this place has many more positives than negatives and they're still fairly new and working out some kinks. We didn't order any pizza but they looked amazing. I want to try one of those.
We were originally going to main street Kyle for BBQ but ended up stumbling into Center Field. Â The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Â We had a nice conversation with the owner and were overall impressed with the atmosphere. Â The chicken nachos were amazing! Â Though we didn't care for the wings too much (sauce seemed fake). Â But overall, great place and we will definitely be going back! Â Glad to see a place like this finally opened in Kyle!!
Review Source:For drinks only, it would be 3 or 4 stars.
The fried green beans were very good; but despite the menu's claim of a large serving, they are not a very good deal.
My partners liked the salads, but one was delivered without some of the advertized ingredients.
Unlike the earlier reviewers, I don't like the burgers. we've tried three; they were composed of small, fragmented, overdone-not juicy patties. The most notable flavor was bread.
I love love love love love looooooooove their fries! I'm not sure what they put in the seasoning (sweet? cinnamon? cumin?) but they are amazing! The chicken sandwich was grilled to perfection, and not dry at all. Â The sweet bun they used was delicious and toasted. I can confidently say that their lemon pepper wings are the best I've ever had. They don't taste over-fried/dry like at Pluckers. Yep, better than Pluckers. In fact, the other night they sold out of their wings. Don't even get me started on their queso.... it sucks! Just look at the damn picture! Good margaritas, too!
God Bless America, and baseball, and fried chicken parts.
Updated: Had their brunch recently. The pancakes are huge! I don't see how a single person could finish just two. Shoot.... Just one! Their chicken and waffles are badass!

My first visit was quite impressive! From the first step in, Centerfield has a downtown feel to it! Well lit, well spaced and clean! The waitstaff was courteous and attentive. Food portions were more than enough, I had the blue cheese bacon with buffalo sauce burger I bit into it prior to adding condiments to find that this burger stood on its own and didn't need anything added to it! Daily happy hour and family friendly this place will surely be a Kyle favorite!
