Good sides, good ribs, good brisket. And it's byob?!

The drive is worth it for the view and the "away from the city" feel. It's relaxing once you get out there and it's really delicious.

I've been many times and it's always consistently good. I love their ribs. Heard their sausage and turkey is great too.

I know people don't always care about the sides but I love their potato salad and their coleslaw. Plus always great service to boot!

South Texas is BBQ country and Salt lick is doing it right. Their entrees are served with a bit of their mustard sauce and while the sauce is excellent, I would recommend asking for the meats 'dry'. This will give you an opportunity to enjoy the meats and their rubs right off the grill. The sauce can be added later if you wish. Take out your camera and the staff will walk you right up to the pit for some great shots.

What else is there to say about The Salt Lick that hasn't be said already? It's some of the best bbq in town. Family style is the best way to go if you're in a big group. Be prepared to wait some, especially if it's a weekend or holiday. But waiting isn't a huge deal since you can BYOB it. Great a group of friends, fill up a cooler with beer, and prepare to hang out and get your fill of delicious smoked meats. I'm in love with their bread. I've never had softer bread and I don't think I ever will.
