Always a cold beer...cold glass...and friendly staff! I come for the great salad bar and it's very fresh.

The Applebee's of Steakhouses.  It's mediocrity to perfection.

Disappointing.  Can't seem to buy anything on their menu without spending at least 10 dollars.  The value is terrible.  I got chicken fingers and french fries.  What was given to me wouldn't even fill up a child.  My date got a burger.  A very small, tasteless burger.  We did not get liquor/hard drinks.  We refused the salad bar.  Our tab came out to be 40 some dollars.  Found that we were charged extra for our beverage refills (at 4 dollars a piece).  We were not aware that refills were not free, as our waitress just filled up our glasses without asking.  We only had a cola and an iced tea.  Never will return to this restaurant.  It was awful.

Birthday dinner on a Friday night.  Food was great--service was great!  Can't wait to go back.

I would've given 3.5 stars if allowed. I've been to Charlie Brown's twice since the E. Windsor location re-opened. My overall impression is that the atmosphere is decent, as is the food. It's a tad overpriced for the quality and variety, but it's certainly not a ripoff. It's a step above places like Perkins but definitely not anything fancy.

On my most recent visit, the wait staff was friendly and fairly responsive. The table, dishes and silverware were clean. The food wasn't too long and coming and it was pretty good. Although not adding whipped cream to key lime pie is dumb.

There are probably 2 things keeping me from visiting Charlie Brown's more often: The prices are a bit high for what you get, and the food and service are simply adequate. I wouldn't tell someone not to eat there, but I can't honestly rave about it either.

We went here last night and though our meals were fair at best.  The duchess cut (smallest) was fatty.  My husband had the strip steak and it was tiny.  The salad bar was just about the same as it was before they closed and reopened.  However the bread selection was different and not as good.

The service was by far the worst we have had a a Charlie Browns.  We had to keep asking for drink refills and to get the dishes cleared off the table.

We started going to the Charlie Browns Steakhouses in 1998 when their queen cut prime rib was $9.99 (todauy it is almost $20).  It was an awesome piece of meat and nicely complemented by the awesome salad bar.  The Handshake Club made it even more reasonable priced.   As the price went up the quality went down.

We just had dinner at Charlie Browns in East Windsor. We were quickly seated and our server was polite and attentive. The salad bar was well stocked, fresh and the selection of fresh bread was great. Our dinners, chicken Marsala and one of the steak specials.  Both were hot and done to order and delivered in reasonable time.  We split the apple dumpling for desert which was delicious.  We had a good meal at a reasonable price.   We did not experience any of the issues mentioned in the other reviews, so give it a try.

Find another place to eat customer service lacking and rude manager I see why the company closed many stores for many years I was looking forward to coming here and now can't wait to finish and leave Look for my full review.   Hint. Zero stars

I have always like Charlie Browns, when I heard the one by my mothers reopened, I wanted to go the next visit down. So we got there I checked in on Yelp and got a free appetizer coupon, showed to the waitress and she said they don't accept them and then the manager came over and  seemed to not know what it was either and reluctantly was going to accept it, I also had a 20% coupon and the manager said she would only take 1 of them....I know it says to be used with no other offers, but after the hassle and being there  was only 1 other table in the restaurant besides us plus we also waited up front for over  5min looking for someone working or a hostess to seat us when we arrived (@245pm) you would think the manager would just honor the online coupon especially after seeing how dissatisfied I was with the answer ,and the servers  comment was i'm sorry you feel that way when I stated know I know why you closed so many restaurants and almost went out of business... I  run 2 restaurants in NYC and 20years ago was a manager at the Denville Restaurant and don't remember being trained to let a guest leave unhappy.  And on top of all that the food was just ok the salad bar didn't look fresh the raisin bread was not fresh, the chicken wings tasted freezer burn and the queen cuts of prime rib were very fatty.  The food probably would not of bothered me as much if I would of got better customer service from the start, the manager started off by leaving a bad taste in my mouth.... I wont be going back and told my mother to cut her handshake club card up....

In their heyday this franchise was a great place to eat beef, especially when they were located in Highland Park, NJ, we loved to dine there. The East Windsor location supposedly just opened but, given their history in the business, they don't deserve any sympathy.

My complaints are no bartender in the early afternoon, the burgers have gotten smaller and I got a cold baked potato with my meal. Wifey complained about poorly washed plates and utensils at the table and salad bar to a manager that acted as if she could care less. Wifey also said that her potato was dried out and it's freshness was questionable. We both weren't happy with our meals or the the wait time for the meals and the waitress acted flustered throughout.

We won't chance another visit to this location.

Charlie Brown's is expensive for what it is--a nicer version of Fridays with some wood paneling.

That said--do you get a good return on your dollar? The answer is: Yes. There's a main reason; the salad bar. It's chocked full of good options including marinated mushrooms and artichoke hearts. And you can load a plateful of greens included in your slightly overpriced meal.

As for the food--it's pretty decent. Their salmon is a little bright-pink looking, which for me usually means farmed but that's not a terrible thing. They are good with substitutions and switching things around a bit, and I've always had good experience with the service.

If you eat in the bar there are a number of TVs for you to check out whatever sports games are going on.

We were reluctant to try a chain that had closed down and then reopened but were pleasantly suprised. The place was packed (Saturday night around 7 p.m.) and there was a 45 minute wait for 2 people.

We opted to sit at the bar. A very drunk patron was next to us screaming (literally) for her "guacamallay" which the bartender had delivered but was hidden under the large nacho chips on the plate. (She ordered numerous black russians with milk, harassed each bartender for "Spendid" aka Splenda, and even asked the woman next to her for a sip of her water...yes, this actually happened.) The bar staff had a good sense of humor and tried to provide decent service except we were in a section near this interesting customer and I think they may have overlooked us by default to avoid coming near her.

My husband ordered a single prime rib slider and a burger slider. The prime rib slider was quite amazing. We both ordered the 12 oz NY Strip (mine: rare, his: medium). Mine came out actually raw, which I don't mind at all but for some, that may be not desirable. His was more medium rare which he was slightly unhappy with but overall, the flavor of the steak was delicious. We were quite satisfied with our choice. His came with the garlic mashed (amazing!) and mine with a baked potato (perfect).

    We will return.

Just reopened.  Went for lunch. Nacho app was great. Multicolor chips, big serving and had it with guacamole. Good for 4 to share.  Salmon tacos were tasty and served with freshly made chips.  Would return and bar looks like a good place to watch games with lots of big TV's.

I used to go there quite often, very close to my home. All of a sudden it was closed down. From the reviews I read, perhaps that was the problem, although I had hardly any complaints. Too bad I miss going there. Met some nice people and the staff was pleasant and helpful. Guess the problem was in the kitchen. A great chef is the main attraction, you get what you pay for!!!!!

    fish great; sandwiches poor ; ate here twice recently;

For dinner had Cedar Plank (Bourbon glazed) salmon; very good, fresh, nice flavor; had with good salad bar and baked potato (and a beer:))= 4; my coworkers also had seafood and they too said was very good

Lunch was pretty bad; order got messed up in the kitchen, and when the prime rib sliders lunch entree showed up; it was cold muffin, cold beef, cold cheese; muffin was supposed to be grilled - not; ; only 2 of the three sliders had a few bits of the grilled onion; I asked for au jus sauce to dip the meat in, and it was ok, but that is not what or how it was served or intended. =1;  I must admit the manager came over and tried to get me something else but that was too late - had to get back to the office; ( the fries were the highlight of the meal, that's sad); oh yeah had a lobster chowder, so unmemorable, I almost forgot it

location was convenient or would not have gone back so quickly; interesting for a NJ steakhouse chain, but as they say forget it

All of the staff was really friendly, but the food was terrible.  I'm not quite sure how you can mess up roast chicken and roasted vegetables, but they did!  The chicken was fatty and soggy.  The vegetables were both soggy and raw at the same time, and coated in an overwhelming layer of oregano.  My tilapia was half undercooked, half overcooked, and the mashed sweet potatoes were cloyingly sweet--and that was WITHOUT the optional caramel topping!  The salad bar was the best thing about the place, and that's because I put it together myself.  I guess it was our fault for not ordering "steak" here, but we weren't in the mood.  And that didn't excuse the sides.  We gave our waiter a generous tip for his efforts, but we won't be going back.

I admit I like this place, despite its inherent franchiseness.  They have good portions, reasonable prices, hearty American food.  They used to have better deals with the unlimited salad bar, but it's still a tempting option for the all-you-can-eat buffet of greens.  But my favorite part of this joint is the library-esque dining room that makes you feel like curling up with a favorite book and a hot pot of tea.

PS - they have sweet potato fries!

I ordered the ribs. They were good. The waiter seemed to have a smartass look on his face though, along with some stupid sarcastic comments when my Aunt asked him about stuff on their menu.  I hope my aunt didn't tip him the usual 20-25%. Not to mention my Aunt and Uncle's food was messed up so they had to re-do it.. so my Aunt/Uncle had to wait to get their food to eat while the rest of us all ate. Also we went to eat kind of early.. 4pm. The place was DEAD. I honestly think maybe 2 parties were there.. that's it.

The decor is nice.. location is nice.. but nothing special.

Not bad, went here for a birthday. Staff was friendly even sang like they do at Applebees and TGIFs lol.
Ordered a chicken parm pasta, big portions, reasonable prices.
Came with your choice of a salad or clam chowder.
Others had steak that comes with fries or mashed potatoes.
Total came out to $100 something for 6 people.
