Great getaway in lovely village of Onancock. The food is incredibly good and the accommodations are wonderful. I highly recommend The Charlotte Hotel.

We stayed here in May 2011, a little getaway from Arlington. We arrived around 4 PM on a Friday afternoon. After checking in to our room - to which we were so kindly escorted by Gary - we took a stroll around the neighborhood. The town was incredibly quiet, yet every person we encountered was friendly. It is about a half-mile walk to the marina.

We had dinner at the hotel, and the food was delicious. I started with the goat cheese tart and small salad. Oftentimes, little boutique restaurants like this one like to 'skimp' on the portion size, but this was just right. At the same time, it was not overwhelming. The side salad tasted just like it had been picked from the garden - a rare, unexpected, and pleasant find! For the entree, I had the two crab cakes. Being on the Eastern Shore, your expectations are naturally high; mine were exceeded. The sauce was perfect, too. For dinner, hubby and I split a piece of the chocolate cake.

The room we stayed in was well-decorated, and definitely a cut-above a boring hotel room. It felt like we had 'escaped.' The bathroom was nice, too, and larger than what I was expecting. Â

The bed was very comfortable. I would have to say my only complaint was that the rooms are not entirely soundproof. That being said, you can sometimes get that with a traditional B&B (which, this is not). I could hear all of the conversations taking place in the hallway as well as a guest across the hall who probably needs to have his tonsils taken out.

I definitely recommend this, and would return!

The tuna I had was great. In my 3 nights here eating Tuna every night at 3 different restaurants, this place was the best. Â The chicken my friend had was ok. The black berry ice cream was the best I've ever had.
