Service didn't start out great with a little confusion and 2 different waitresses coming over trying to take our order at separate times, but ignoring that fact this place was good. Â Got crab fries to start which were on par with the other locations. Â Really dig the fact that you get two dipping sauces of cheese. Ended up getting the roast pork green which was heavily packed but on a smaller than normal seeded roll. The buffalo chicken nachos were good too but not sure if they're good enough to be $13. Â Kid friendly location. Â Good $2 happy hour beer special even in the restaurant. Â Insanely fast food service. It came out in minutes. Â Almost too fast. Â Overall was pleased with the place.
Review Source:After we aborted lunch at the Rainforest Cafe (my son had a fit), we were hungry. Â We saw a sign for this place and decided to give it a whirl. Â We had dined here when it was Damon's. Â The only time I have been in a Chickie and Pete's was in Philadelphia long ago.
We had a brand new waitress. Â She was friendly, but did knock my wife's drink spilling quite a bit of it. Â We would have liked that refreshed.
We received lots of food. Â Of course. we paid for this. Â The highlights were the nachos. Â Lots of peppers, plenty of chips and loads of guacamole. Â In addition, there were lots of olives for my wife.
The crabby fries were fine. Â Far too many for us given the nachos, but fine. Â My wife had the crab cake sandwich. Â She was unimpressed. Â I had the pork sandwich. Â It was loaded. Â It was fine for what it was; it would have not cut in Philly, but it was an okay change of pace.
Lots of televisions showing sports. Â Lunch was okay, but I doubt we'll seek coming back again.
The worst chickie's location I've been to. Not a great level set for the rest of this growing chain... The one at the airport is better! The food doesn't taste the same. The provolone sauce here is straight up flour, the crab fries got soggy, which they NEVER, honestly, never have in south Philly. We didn't get bread with the mussels, and the pork was seasoned differently, and not well. The mussels were good. The service is heinous. Had to ask for plates and silverware, and then we were only awarded forks... No knives or spoons god forbid. Not going back to this one.
Review Source:This place is bad. My wife and kids normally go in and get the crab fries to go. We love them. Always consistent and well made. I have been inside twice. I will never go back inside again. First time was with a youth sports team for a party. Once again the fries were right on but everything else was bad. The room we were in was for the party only and we were to be charged half price for the pizza and fries. Good thing I looked at the receipt cause we were charged double instead of half price. Second time was for lunch. Again, fries were awesome. But this time I tried the burger. $9 for a frozen patty on a bun. That's it. No fries or chips or even a veg. It even smelled like fish. And it was ordered medium and cooked beyond well done.
Review Source:Definitely the worst C&P location I have come across. Â Mind you, the worst C&P is still better than most other sports bar/restaurant type places. Â
I found the food here to be inconsistent with other locations. Â I always get the seafood chowder when I go to Chickie's and the soup here was different. Â
What annoyed me the most about this restaurant wasthe 25 minute wait. Normally I wouldn't complain, but when I was finally seated I passed ten open tables. Â What's the deal?? Â
The service was not good here either. Â Our waitress seemed very disengaged and took entirely too long. Â
I may come back if I am stranded in Egg Harbor with no place else to go, but this was definitely not a great dining experience.
Past Saturday night we had a large party of 14 as we were having our last family meal together for a while anyway. Â My son and daughter in law are moving to Florida so I let them pick where to eat. Â We arrived at about 745pm and were sat almost immediately which in itself without reservation is impressive. Â We ordered several appys including dry rub wings which were very good; crab nachos; onion ring tower; just to name a few. Â The food here is quite good actually. Â It is a bit pricey but seafood EVERYWHERE is a bit pricey. Â Soup was great. Â So why 2 stars Jim? Â Because bad, inattentive service can absolutely ruin a meal as it did with us. Â I am totally against standard tipping for large parties. Â It seems the servers know they are getting at least 18%. Â We are standard 20% tippers. Â The place was not crowded by any means and after taking the first round of drinks we constantly had to look for our server. Â Our meal was dragged out over 2 hours. Â 5 of our party were kids and 1 only had soup. Â There is no excuse for this. Â If it weren't for the quality of the food I would have given only one star as the service was THAT BAD. Â I can only speak for our party as I did see the other servers working tables and patrons seemingly happy. Â Sorry not us.
Review Source:I was really surprised by this place! I was never to the Egg Harbor location and I'm used to the long waits and crowds at the other locations. Typically my party of two is jammed into a tiny table elsewhere and you bump into everyone. We were seated immediately (seemed pretty dead for a Friday night) in a booth that was angled towards their 4 big screen TVs which were showing 4 baseball games (except the rained out Phils.) The tables were poorly lit, but I dealt with it. Our server was a very nice girl who was very attentive until the tail end of our meal. For whatever reason, the playlist of music in that place was a whole bunch of (good but) depressing songs, not what you want to listen to on a fun night out to eat. I did mention it to our waitress who said other people had mentioned it too, and they did change the music as we were leaving.
We got two orders of snow crab legs and a crab fries. I never was a fan of crab fries originally, only being able to eat them in the paper tubs at sports events, where they're always soggy and never a good temperature. But getting them at the restaurant changed my opinion on them. Ordering them here, you get them freshly cooked just for you so they come out crispy and on a tray with two things of cheese, and only $6! Cheaper than the $10 you'll pay in a stadium. The crabs were great, it seems like you get soooo much too, and they're covered in their seasoning. I really enjoy being able to get them dressed up, because I can always just steam cheaper legs myself at home. They also give you that neat plastic tool to open them up. So much better than those silly cracker things.
I get crab legs a lot, and this chain is one of my favorite places to get them. Much better than Urie's in Wildwood.
I stopped in for lunch and have to agree with the naysayers to this restaurant.
I ordered a Roast Beef sandwich with Provolone Cheese and it came with tasteless cheese sauce (they told me it was provolone cheese that they melt themselves, yeah right). The roll was soft and could not stand up to the minimal amount of meat.
This is a silverware optional restaurant--which means you have to ask for silverware--what is this place a barn?
There are too many other restaurants to make a second trip!
All they care about is making money by watering down drinks and up charging you.perfect example: On the menu, they have a Philly CHEESE steak sandwich for $8 and "extras" $1. So here's how it broke down on the bill for a NORMAL sandwich:
Philly cheese steak $8
CHEESE $1 (mind you, not for extra cheese and on the menu it says CHEESE steak?!?
Onions $1
Mushrooms $1
Green peppers $1
Red peppers $1
The waitress was asked about the fact that it is a CHEESE steak sandwich, so why is that considered an extra, but she said it is and that the bill was correct!
I really have no idea why people are hating on Chickie's and Pete's so much! I love this place! This location is, I feel, the closest to the original Philly location, and I much prefer it to their other sites (especially Bordentown. Yuck.)
Chickie's and Pete's food is delicious. As a self-proclaimed seafood aficionado, I will tell you that their mussels in spicy marinara sauce is UNRIVALED. I once spent an entire day here (football Sunday!) and ordered this mussels twice: for lunch and dinner. The heaping, steaming bowl of mussels is soaked in a wonderfully spicy marinari sauce which perfectly complements the tenderness of the mussels. Very reasonably priced for what you're getting here. I've also enjoyed again and again the all-you-can-eat-crabs. For $25 (or at least that's what it was the last time I went) you can crack, peel, pick, and slurp your way through as many king crabs as your heart desires. The flavors of the crabs are perfect: garlic, oil, and old bay. These need nothing else, except perhaps an ice-cold Yuengling. One night, after getting through about 2 bowls of these babies, I ordered a third. (My eyes were, apparently, bigger than my stomach.) When the server realized I was NOT going to be able to eat any more, she graciously allowed the remainder to be packed up and taken home! And the crab fries....oooh. If you've not had them, do so immediately. Gotta eat 'em fast though, the cheese sauce gets solidified and yuck if it sits too long.
I have won a few happy hours from C&Ps. Â I think it's a little-known fact that you can go to their website and sign up to win a happy hour. I entered a few times and won. Setting up the happy hour was easy; the manager was kind and accomodating. Just told her about how many people we'd have, and we got drink specials and free crab fries for 2 hours!
I have been to the Bordentown location and asked for a cup of coffee, which I was told they did not serve. I don't care if you're a sports bar, or if you have some image you're trying to maintain...what establishment doesn't serve coffee?! I don't know if C&Ps has changed this policy at all, but it's really asinine.
This is a great sports bar to watch the game and eat some good food. Plenty of TVs and I've never had anything but decent service here. My only complaint is that there tends to be a few too many Giants fans here....but that's a personal problem ;)
WOW. Â This was lame on Sunday.
We went there because didn't get the Giants game :::shakes fist at Philadelphia market::: so we headed down.
They seated us right away in a booth in front of the projector screens - good.
Our drink order was taken promptly - good.
End, things that were good.
Our server had to get clarification TWO times on the shots we ordered (Cafe Patron).
We were charged $31 for 3 TINY shots of Cafe Patron - outrageous! Â We were here last year and I know we didn't pay 10.30 a shot for Patron, ever. Â And considering everywhere else charges between $6.25 and $8.00 for a Patron shot, this was clearly us being ripped off because they know they can get away with it.
Also, they upped the price of the crabs, used to be $25/$30/$35 depending on what you got but now it starts at $35! Â My sister in law said the crabs were very mushy and they were very spicy and tiny.
Ultimately, we spent $200+ there and our server was so not interested in helping us...we literally had to stand up and say "HEY. Â WE WANT TO PAY." Â
When we questioned her about the outrageous price of Patron she smiled and said "Sorry!" Â No...this is the time when you go to your manager and say, people just dropped $200 and are pissed off. Â
I guess she assumed she was going to get 18-20% on a big check no matter what...she was sorely mistaken. Â IF we decide to go back, I will be sure we DON'T get that server.
the good: fries are great. the atmosphere is very good. lots of TVs. Good options on the menu.
the bad. I ordered a burger and it was most definitely a frozen burger from the grocery store. like a bubba burger. Â what a joke. Â and it seems fried, not grilled. Â pathetic display. Â totally pissed about that.
idk what these people are complaining about .....Face it if you are going for seafood, this Philly based sports bar  is delicious i went there for an all you can eat crab feast, and i was very satisfied.  and ask for the Beer Cylinder (Pour it yourself statue of cold beer)   i took my whole family down there and they loved it too.  the all you can eat is only Mon-Thursday but worth every penny if u can scarf down crabs like i can....LOL.....i did try the lobster cheesteak not a big fan and the crab fries are very good especially with thier famous cheese sauce. Â
But if u want crabs for a decent price go to Chickie and Petes  and catch a Flyer game while your there LOL....
