As a former employee of the Chilis in Rockville, md I am thoroughly appalled by my recent visit. My boyfriend, his roommate and I came in for dinner and drinks. All of us were just laughing and having a good time. We order our beers which seems to take forever when the bar manager comes over to us to tell us that him and our waitress have noticed that all of us are "too drunk" to be served alcohol. Mind you none of us had a sip of alcohol all day. Never coming back here again.
Review Source:This review is based on my carry-out experiences. We go to chili's about three times a month and get carry out. The servers always make sure everything is In the bag. If you ask for extra of anything, they always put it in the bag. When we get there, the order is always ready. We usually get about three meals and desserts in our order and they always make sure everything is perfect. I appreciate this because there are times when you get carry-out and everything is thrown in your bag, things are forgotten, you have to go back inside to get things and the order isn't ready at the time they give. I appreciate chili's because they treat the carry-out customers the same way as the customers dining in. I never have to worry about going through my bag to make sure everything is in there, and the food is always good. I wish I could say the same thing about Bob Evans.
Review Source:I have to warn you that my experience was possibly influenced by the fact that my Brother-in-Law is a manager at the central training Chili's for the region. Therefore, upon his announced arrival, we were treated to an excellent experience. I cannot guarantee that your experience will be the same, barring having a relative that is ~also~ a manager at a central training restaurant for your region.
The food here was quite good, especially the Southwestern Eggrolls. I could eat those all day and night, even with the consequences of devouring so much fried food. I decided to order the Monterey Chicken and wasn't disappointed. There wasn't a single complaint from our entire party of 10 (+2 toddlers) about anything we received.
I think one of the cool things about Chili's are the electronic touchscreen devices at each table. You can put on clips of shows (good for the kids), play various games (some free, some cost a dollar), or even order drinks from the bar (warn your server, though).
So, based on my experience, I enjoyed this Chili's a lot. However, as I said, I did have someone with me that may have influenced everything.
It was nice to go here on a Friday night at 6:15pm and not have to wait for a table. Unfortunately the portion sizes have gone down. Granted I haven't been to a Chilis restaurant in probably 7 months and the last one was in Short Pump in Richmond, VA. We ordered the chips and salsa and were surprised you no longer get free refills! We also ordered the southwest egg rolls which are about 1/2 the size they used to be...but still delicious. I ordered the BLT Quesadilla. It was very small but the guacamole was what really made this yummy. Hubby had the sliders- always delicious. The service was good and seamless even during the change in the shift.
Review Source:My friend and I went around 4ish on a Tuesday afternoon to grab a quick bite. We were immediately blown when they said they don't do the unlimited salsa and chips combo anymore. Like honestly that was the only reason we had even decided to come (Chili's might b my least fave out of the Fridays/Applebees clan).
After we got over that shock we got the 2 for 20. He got some pasta dish and I got the Bacon Ranch Chicken Quesdilla. I must say I was I was pleasantly surprised. It was really Bad, Michael Jackson Bad! Our waitress was friendly and prompt too. I gotta say this might have been my most pleasant experience at a Chili's yet. Would I say I'm a born again fan? Eh, the jurors are still out on that.
I went to this location with a friend for birthday drinks and dinner and the food was meh and the service was worst! I barely so my waitress the entire night and had to flag down random service people to get me napkins and utensils but guess who popped up the moment the check was due. The drinks were the only reason this place got the two stars i gave it, if it wasnt for that one star all the way.
Review Source:The food is not great but not bad. Â I wish their service was better. Â Staff can be apathetic for the most part. Â They don't appear to have a host/hostess so it's anyone's guess when you'll be seated. Â Is it so hard to designate one of the servers to also seat on a rotating basis? Â
Chicken crispers and sandwiches are pretty good, have flavor. Â Tacos and fajitas are in the average to above average range. Â Desserts are also good. Â Not one of those places you can roll up to at the last minute cuz they WILL make it clear that they're trying to go home. Â They also close earlier than a lot of their competition (which in Bowie is pathetic).
Of all the OMG-we're-having-so-much-fun-let's-high-five-guys type restaurant chains (a la Applebees, Fridays, etc.), Chili's is by far my favorite. However, ironically, this one is never all that much fun.
I've never been here when it was packed--probably because I just can't see myself ever going to one of these restaurants on a Fri/Sat night--so maybe that accounts for the ho-hum atmosphere of the place and the less than enthusiastic demeanor of some of the wait staff when I'm here. However, the food is what I love about Chili's, and this one is no exception: the sizzling fajitas passing by always make you wish you had ordered them, the triple dipper appetizers are brilliant, great nachos and the ribs are usually top notch (every once in a while you'll get the anorexic pig who couldn't...but not too often). All for a price that can't be beat for a satisfying lunch or weeknight dinner.
But, no, I can't see this place being my Friday night restaurant of choice--a little too family oriented for my taste. While I know kids have to eat too--I guess--I just wish they didn't have to sit (stand, shout, have epilelptic seizures) around me while they do. And it can't be someone's birthday EVERYDAY, can it? And why must I be the one always sitting at the next table? And change the music in this place; there must me something more lively can be played--Leona Lewis? Really? Thank God for the carry-out service!
I've definitely had better food and service at a Chili's, but this one wasn't terrible. We had just finished a day at Six Flags and were ravenously hungry, so we decided to stop in here.
The chips and salsa were awesome, probably aided by our hunger levels, but good nonetheless. I got the peppercorn burger, which was meh. Most of the rest of my families dishes disappeared in short order, which probably means they were up to snuff as well.
Our server was OK, not the fastest guy out there but polite and I never had to ask for a refill (well, once, but he couldn't see my glass that time) and I hate asking for refills, it's kinda his job, you know?
I'd probably come here again, although I'd probably stick to something there more well known for, like the ribs my daughter got that I wished I had gotten too!
The service and food are so great at Chili's that it keeps us coming back time and again! I miss the pairing specials when they aren't running the promotions. The only complaint I have where the overall score is not 5 is sometimes the service is slow - When the place is packed we get great service, but when it is empty the service tend to take their time and are busy with closing duties rather than service.
