CHristys is a local favorite it serves great beer and great specials then menus carries the usual fare for a pub however the Brunch menus is what makes it really special. Â The item im talking about of course is the Stoners delight which is really a french toast sandwich stuffed with eggs veggies, and meat and served with warm syrup on the side. Â Many places have a sandwich 'like' this but christyshas truly perfected it. Â Next time your in greenville at least try it, its totally worth it!!

I was on the fence about whether to give Christy's 3 or 4 stars. Â Technically, the place is precisely what I look for in a bar. Â Good prices, wide selection of beers, vegetarian options, and most importantly, no frat boys or sorority girls or downtown sleaze contaminating the food and bev. Â But I guess everything has a price, because the Greek life/Jersey Shore wannabes are replaced with artsy hipster types who generally keep to themselves but have the capability of being just as stuck up and obnoxious as the downtown. Â I love the black bean burger but hate having to withstand various glares for not wearing ?vintage? clothing in order to enjoy it. Â The bartenders add to the pretentious vibe... It seems that they don't show interest in customers they don't recognize. Â Still, I give Christy's four stars because despite the unwelcoming bar staff and off-putting clientele, it's a fine establishment where the owners/managers truly seem to care about the quality of their goods.
Review Source:Around the corner from the City Market is Christy's Euro Pub. I can't even remember the first time I walked through the door with friends, sat down and had a few pints of draft on tap. No seriously, I cannot remember, because I think I was far too sauced up that night; if I have to guess I think it was my freshman year Halloween.
This is a Euro pub, not to be confused with gastropub; you aren't getting no Beef Wellington, nor fish and chips any fancier than Cod and hand cut fries. What you do get is just good old-fashioned pub grubs, like loaded tater skins and fried pickles and burgers and sandwiches, added some "Euro" flavors like Sheppard's pie or, Schnitzel and German sausage plate.
As noted as well by some of my fellow reviewers, over the years I think they got quite complacent. The food is somehow the same and different at the same time, at least in taste; and if you are not "in the know" with bartenders and waitresses, be in a wait and a test of patience.
I know they are currently under renovation, which I think is much needed, with missing roof tiles and cracked walls and all; what I hope is that, with brand new re-opening they can also renovate their services a little.
$ well priced, good vegitarian or pescatarian options. i went with sweet potatoe and avocado all the way.
Mixed crowd, cool enough to have colledge kids.
Range of beers.
Probably good for friends - but alas I eat alone and that was fine, sport on the tv and temple of the dog on the speakers.
For those who have not been here lately, it is not the same place it used to be. Christys was once a favorite of mine however everytime I have gone there in the last year or so my experience gets worse everytime. In these recent trips I have had beer that was over 6 months passed the exp date on the bottle, food that has no flavor or is just covered in salt, my drink taken away by a bartender because she didnt remember seeing an ID and she would not replace it, and generally piss poor service all around, I guess it still worth going on cheesesteak night but I dont reccomend it
Review Source:I like what the bar is trying to do but the service has got to change. Â I've been in several times and left after a drink due to the lack of professionalism by the staff. Â You have to earn a seat type of joint. Â Don't go here unless your making a 3 year commitment to visit every other day. Â If they don't know your face, your screwed.
Review Source:My friends and I have made quite a few visits to Christy's over the past several years. Â The most recent of these was on 19 February 2011, a Saturday night. Â Christy's has some good elements, but as much as I want to like this bar, I always leave feeling a bit dissatisfied and annoyed.
Let's start with the negatives. Â First, I've never had a draft beer here that wasn't lukewarm. Â That alone takes away one star. Â You need to get bottled beer if you want it cold. Â Second, each of the half-dozen or so female bartenders I've encountered here has been downright unfriendly and strangely unprofessional. Â They seem to resent anyone who doesn't identify as a "regular" customer. Â I'm not the kind of stranger who tries to engage bartenders in conversation (that's generally annoying), but a buddy of mine is, and their reaction to his very polite attempts at repartee was unnecessarily brusque given the casual pace of the small, half-empty bar. Â Another odd thing was that our bartender put all our drinks and food on the same tab, even though we had ordered separately throughout the visit. Â Did she assume we were on some sort of man date? Â That's beyond irritating. Â Finally, be aware of the type of crowd Christy's attracts: if you don't mesh well with hipsters (or that irritating variety of people who wear garish hats indoors in 70-degree weather), you might not enjoy the scene at Christy's. Â In order to fit in and get equal attention from the bartenders, try not to show up without a two-day beard and an unreasonable number of decorative rings on your fingers. Â Don't wear a tie. Â This is like Asheville, N.C., but in Greenville. Â
Now for the positives. Â First, Asheville types are sometimes preferable to the alternatives. Â Hipster though they may be, the people here seem to be quite a bit more mature than the Jersey Shore types that flood the downtown Greenville bars. Â Christy's offers a good place of refuge from the inane squawking of underage sorostitutes. Â Second, the food menu here is quite good considering it's offered late into the night at reasonable prices. Â Third, and to my great satisfaction, they actually serve (but alas, do not refrigerate) light domestic beer--almost unheard of in niche bars of this variety that pride themselves on an eclectic rotating tap lineup.
The bottom line here is that Christy's offers an affordable alternative to Greenville's college bars, but it isn't the best alternative by a long shot. Â It is not a good place to get cold draft beer, to be treated courteously, or to mingle with professionals. Â Beer issues cost Christy's one star, and service/staff issues cost it the other two.
NOTE: Â For reasons that remain mysterious to me, Yelp filtered out one of the most important reviews of Christy's to date, which accurately pointed out the rudeness of the staff and the types of customers that patronize this bar.
If it weren't for Christy's, I don't know how I would have survived in Greenville for any length of time.
The staff is lovely and exceedingly friendly. They have a decent bottled selection (including a great set of high-gravity beers - on special every Monday!), and their rotating taps often feature delicious, NC beers and other wonderful craft brews.
I love Christy's dinner specials that change every month, and breakfast all day is a huge bonus. Their "sloppy joe" is actually much, much tastier than the name suggests; it's basically a roast beef sandwich (they roast their own) with a nice amount of sauce and some fixings, if you like. Likewise, the philly cheese steak sandwich is really good, huge, and also on special for cheap every Thursday.
Really though, Christy's is the ultimate neighborhood bar. It's got a fantastic atmosphere, a great group of regulars, friendly staff, outdoor patio with a fire place for the cold winter months, and it avoids the nonsense clubbish crowd from downtown.
Great little bar with excellent tap selection, decent food, and inviting feel. I was in town for business and I always look for independent, locally-minded establishments who care about what they are doing. This place hit the mark. The beer on rotating tap was excellent and the daily drink specials advertised would have me coming back if I lived in Greenville. The food is good for a "bar-first" establishment, and the patrons were open and friendly. Would recommend and return.
Review Source:Christys is legit.
Christy's is a the place to come for great beers on tap without the typical douchebaggery you might run into down off 5th street. Â With a diverse selection of small bites, tasty entree's, and a cooler full of tastygood bottled beers from craft brewers to major corporations alike. Â
They boast daily specials on both booze and food and serve late night finger foods all night long. Â More often than not they are hosting events ranging from wine tastings to open mic nights. Â
The bartenders aren't afraid to tell you off but the onslaught of locals here should prove their bark is [sometimes] worst than their bite. Â They give a damn about their bar and their customers and it shows with the loyalty their patrons embody. Â
If I could suggest to you anything... come here hungry, eat a sloppy joe [made with brisket], get a $3 New Belgium beer and just... be. Â And don't forget to pay your tab.
This is pretty much the only good bar in Greenville, and the large crowds let you know that. This place is PACKED on a weekend night. It's tiny and smokey and its really a neighborhood place.
The food is decent but the real draw is the people..many nights Christy's feels like a drunken family reunion.
Here are some tips for a good night out at Christy's:
1. Don't smoke in the railroad booths, you will be sorry.
2. Don't fight the metalheads over the music on the patio (unless you secretly have the remote control)
3. Do get a cheap liquor drink, or seven.
4. Play trivial pursuit with just the cards
5. After drunk, get cheese fries or a veggie burger with a fried egg on top
6. End the night singing along to the Party Favorites channel with friends, clear the tables and make a dance floor.
7. Leave when the bartenders tell you to, or you'll be thrown out with style
