When will the Lake of the Ozarks get a decent restaurant???? Â Need some lunch after a morning of shopping and am so tired of On The Rise so decided to try something else. Â The food was ok, nothing great, I honestly am struggling to even remember what I had, come kind of sandwich..... Â The onion rings were good, I will give them that.
Review Source:This place was relatively good. Their presentation of the food was nice and the staff was nice. My brother asked if he could have his crab cakes pan-seared instead of deep fried and the chef agreed with no problem at all. Some of the food can be a bit overwhelming though, like their sauteed spinach which has wayyy too much butter. As far as lake food goes, I would eat here again.
Review Source:I have eaten here twice and both times were good. This is better than avg. lake food with a slightly up scale twist. The fish dishes  are very good and the pork chop was out standing the kc strip with scolops was cooked to perfection.Service is tipical lake service which is avg at best.
Review Source:I've been to the "Blue Room" a couple of time before on busy weekends here at the lake, and it was simply ok. Â Coming from STL, obviously this "club" nightlife scene has much to desired.
On this evening we went for dinner. Â Starting off we waited quite a while for a server (~30 minutes) and when she finally did appear was apologetic, but the small dinning room was not full, so we were unsure why the wait was appropriate. Â She asked about drinks and I ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Â She did'nt seem to understand what I had said and asked twice more which wine and still couldn't pronounce it herself. Â She seemed nice enough, just new and unfamiliar with the small wine list. Â Next, the specials. Â From a note pad, the waitress read the 3 specials as if she had read them or seen them for the first time. Â Finally we ordered, crab cakes and Ahi tuna entree and blackened chicken. Â The waitress once again did not know the menu, obviously when she asked, "how would you like that cooked?", refering to the tuna. To which I replied, "uh, like they normally do,..... rare to med rare.....ish..... " Â I stayed very light hearted throughout all of this though. Â She was very nice, just clearly did not know the menu. Â
Now, specifically speaking of the food, again it was a simple ok.  We ordered the lump crab cakes which were mostly  filled with bread crumbs and were lacking any lumps of crab or visable crab meat for that matter.  Ceasar salad was average. Ahi tuna was ok however the wasabi guac it comes with is just guacamole with a squirt of wasabi paste from a tube ploped on top. *So mix well.  The blackened chicken ok as well, not great. Â
Finally, we orded desert. Â To go. Â We had been there long enough! Â We orded the chocolate lava cake. Â The waitress left, and came back saying they only had the chocolate chip kind. Â We said ok, and just took what they had. Â Once we got home, we opened the box of our desert only to realize the lava cake was just a white cake with chocolate chips baked in a small bundt cake mold and hershey's chocolate syrup poured into the center. Â * In the description it said ganache.... Â and I've had better box cake mixes.
We laughed our evening off, probably due to the wine, but I will not ever eat at the City Grill again.
We eat there quite often for lunch. Â It is a nice place with decent food at a good price. Â If you like hot buffalo style food like wings, I recommend the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with home fries. Â It is a HUGE chicken breast lathered in hot buffalo sauce served on a toasted bun with pepper-jack cheese. Â Really great!
