So apparently there are a few different places that are being reviewed. For my understandings, what is at 35591 Kings Canyon Road is actually the address for Clingan's Coffee and Deli. I have met all of the staff here. The main employees seem to be a mother Shannon, and her daughter, though they are not the owners. The owner is this spunky fun lady, who's name I can't recall. I would have to give them 5 stars for being the only cafe, however, they lose a star for their coffee choice, old Farmer Brothers. I am going to try to convince them of picking up another distro for coffee sourcing though, so I have hope.
It is a small quaint shop, and if you sit outside you can steal the wifi from the Valero across the street. Quality staff. Yet to try the food, though I hear from locals that it is sub par, but I have yet to try much other than some pastries they had given me, both of which I though were great. They even had fresh local grapes. Their schedule is a little flexible, and they close early often because of lack of traffic. I feel like if they were consistent, and had a better coffee distributor things here would turn themselves around only in the best of ways.
Stopped by here for brunch after a few days of camping up in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Â It looks like it's called Hummingbird's now. Â The restaurant decor is restaurant and really makes you feel like you're in a cozy country cabin. Â There are many historical pictures and items to keep you distracted with thoughts of what it was like in the Wild West days while you wait for your food. Â In the meantime, the staff is very attentive to making sure you constantly have coffee in your cup. Â The food itself is very good; your typical quality breakfast & brunch fare thoughtfully made with fresh-tasting ingredients. Â Who would've thought there'd be this awesome place so far out from civilization!
Review Source:CJ's is formerly the Hummingbird, in which the new ownership occurred over the last year.
My experience was a great surprise. The Chicken Marsala is 5 star & the 16oz Rib Eye is superb! Rate's as high as our local Bay Area steak house! My husband ate at CJ's over a month ago & kept it a secret...well word is out...while in Squaw Valley or going on the 180 to SNP or KC...you must stop & enjoy the wonderful mouth watering delights.
CJ's owners bring the wonderful taste of the South, lots of love to their craft & the service is personable & very hospitable...yeah Liz!!!
