Talk about an experience, Lone Star takes the cake. Â Come lunch time, this place is full of men's men, truckers and a sprinkling of bikers. Â I can tell you Sister Holland had nothing to worry about while I had lunch with my good work friends at Lone Star. Â Ya see, turns out, Tuesdays are Fashion Show days. Â The service staff get out of their usual grubbies and slip into some very swanky (I think I can use that term here.) underthings. Â I think it's just a way to get the regulars to show up on a normally quiet early week day when the place is usually dead, but by noon there wasn't a seat available for us regular folk--good thing we came early.
Now, my hippy happy co-workers play on the same side of the fence as I do, so at least two of us were just embarrassed for being there as we watched the "models" hunker up to the bar with the regulars and give a little somethin' with their lunch. Â The really fun part of this is we had to do some musical chairs because one of my lunch companions enjoys herself some female companionship. Â Glad this worked out for at least one of us.
Lone Star is smack dab in the middle of working' man's territory and its the perfect place to get a cold beer, a great buffalo burger and some fries before heading back out on the road. Â And if you passing through on a Tuesday stop in for the fashion show. I won't tell the wife...
I came by here today for the second time; the first was about a year ago to the day, for lunch with a friend who has since moved away. Â At that time, I thought to myself that I should get back soon; today, I felt the same way.
It's seemingly a ways away from "the city;" but I got here in 15 minutes, and I often travel that far for food and service that's not nearly as good. Â Our table of about a dozen was served promptly, and well, by friendly and efficient waitresses.
I'll be back; with luck it will be sooner than 12 months from now.
This place is a hidden gem. Â It has great food that is always cooked perfectly. Â Try the chile verde burrito, it is excellent. Â The steak sandwich is delicous as well. Â There is a full bar and specials each night of the week. Â They also have kareoke on Friday and Saturday nights which can be very amusing.
