Summary: Clientele is trash, and so is the food.
Ambiance/ Fellow Clientele: I walked in here on a Thursday night and it was really busy for a Thursday night., which is usually a really a good sign. Until you realize that this is the cheapest place to drink in town and the place is chock full of alcoholics. ... As for the place itself, The inside has a bad "outdated and not really clean at all feel"
Food: I had pizza and it was below the average Frozen grocery store pizza. People next to me said that the cheese curds were real terrible. Now I wasn't expecting to be blown away by the pizza at all given the looks of the place, but when I got my receipt it said "Coaches Corner Taste of Italy"... I think they might have screwed up "Taste of Italy" with  "Taste of Jack's Pizza".
Service: My bartender was a nice, young and attractive college aged girl who was attentive and was really working hard and should be working at a nicer establishment where she could get better tips., So that bumps the place from 1 star to 2. Â However, the fellow bartender was a loud and annoying middle -aged woman who was friends with everyone else in the bar, and judging by her conversations, she was an alcoholic too.
I won't come back again. and I suspect this place will be closed down in a few years as De Pere becomes more and more upper middle class by the day.
Coaches corner is just ok..
Pros: Drink specials.
Cons: Food and service. The cheese curds were horrible, and the burgers were nothing special. Our server was decent, but I saw other customers sit down and wait at least 15 min for someone to recognize they were there. (There were 2 servers talking to each other in the corner of the restaurant the whole time.) the only time the customers were noticed was when they put their coats on to leave. There are better sports bars close by.
My fiance and I hit up Coach's Corner once a week or so. We have only had 1 bad experience and it was because the waitress though we were 'sharing drinks' on his membership 'double bubble' deal. Instead of asking us about it, she very rudely explained (and made a scene about it to boot!) that we were not allowed to do that even though we weren't sharing! We left pretty pissed off and didn't tip her, but we have been back a number of times since then.
Other than that one time (and I have not seen the waitress since then) we have had a wonderful experience and the food is always delicious. The pizza's are very good (very thin crust), the onion rings are to die for, and the prices are very reasonable. Another reviewer stated that the pizzas take between 30-60 minutes but I don't think thats accurate because I have never waited longer than 10-15 mins even when they're busy.
Its worth checking out if you're in the mood for a laid back evening of drinking and bar food. Before you seat yourself, find out if Amber is working and sit in her section. Shes quirky but shes awesome!
My husband and I planned to eat here until I was totally snubbed by the female bartender. She literally looked right at me and walked away. Another male patron told me to stand by him since they have a tendency to ignore women patrons. Since then I have been told that by other male patrons.
Review Source:While on business from Chicago I stopped in Coaches for lunch. Â I was kind of surprised that people were smoking at the bar. Â After my my initial culture shock, this place came through.
I left feeling like Coaches provided a good value for bar food. Â My coworker and I split an appetizer, and each ordered a drink and sandwich. Â Our total bill was about 20 bucks. Â That is pretty good.
The all female wait staff was receptive to our needs, asked us if we needed anything, etc.
I noticed a big vinyl sign that stated that they make pizzas from scratch and they take between 30 and 60 minutes. Â If I ever go back I am going to call ahead because the pizza descriptions looked very good, but that would have made for a very long lunch.
