In my experience reviewing restaurants, I considered Coasters to be the "go to" place to grab a burger for lunch and enjoy a good brew. Buy the coaster burger and add your toppings and be happy. I would hit this place up any chance I got. Called today and found that they are now charging for toppings. Ruins the mystique. Nobody in their right mind thinks that a slice of cheese costs 50 cents. I was told over the phone it was because of the cost of resources that they nixed their signature offering. The burger is GREAT but not 11 dollars great. Hit up any of the many options around them but I can't recommend Coasters based upon price. If they charged 9.50 for a build your own maybe... but it seems pretty clear that they are reinventing themselves. Beware... nickle and dime nickle and dime.
Review Source:I had a camel burger here! Yes, a camel burger! Coasters rotates exotic meats for burgers and while we were visiting Camel was up. It was delicious and very lean. I later learned its a good alternative to buffalo as a lean ground meat. For the adventurous eater I would recommend going out on a limb and getting the exotic burger. The wings were really, finger licking good too! The bar has so many beers on tap that whatever your into they will have it. They had quite a few lambics so I was happy. By the time we ate here I'd had so many darn french fries that I didn't really taste them but they looked good. If I lived within 100 miles of this place I would be 200 lbs. heavier!
Review Source:HIDDEN GEM--don't be put off by the strip mall location. Â This place is OUTSTANDING. Â Best hamburger I've ever had! Â Great sports bar atmosphere with many HD TVs. Â Very casual comfortable with excellent service! Â Perfect spot for a great meal. Â Really good happy hour beer specials.
Review Source:We went to Coasters on Saturday for their Belgian Beer fest. Â Normally, I would avoid a strip mall anchored by Wal-Mart, Winn-Dixie and a Dollar store at all costs. Â Â The only stores missing were a check cashing place and a pawn shop. Â Coasters is a hidden gem tucked away in the 90 degree bend of the strip mall. Â Â For the festival, they replaced all of their regular draft taps with 35 Belgian beers. Â Inside the bar looked nice and inviting, but the real appeal to me was the outside courtyard. Â I didn't expect a bar in a strip mall to have a nice little grassy courtyard, but they pulled it off.
We found a nice table on the patio with some shade and got busy trying various Belgian brews. Â Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. Â We ordered an Italian sub to combat the effects of the delicious, but potent Belgian brews, and it was thoroughly tasty. Â Other patrons around us were eating burgers that looked amazing, but I wanted to leave some room for the high calorie Belgian brews.
Overall, we had a great experience at Coasters and I would come back anytime for one of their regular (35 ) draft offerings, and I'd definitely come back for the Belgian Beer fest. Â Next time I'll get a burger.
Good bar. It is a little on the diveish side but isn't anything I feel would make me want to avoid the place. One of the bartenders was a bit rough and didn't seem to want to explain any of the beers and told me she didn't really care for beer (yet works at a beer bar?). Food was standard pub fare and decently done but not the greatest. With the beer selection however pushed it up a notch
Review Source:Great burgers and beer. So many beers and at reasonable prices.
Burgers are actually seasoned and aren't cooked until they're bone dry. You can actually order Well Done or Medium-Well and get a delicious burger without worrying about getting charcoal or a raw slab of meat.
They've got a selection of always-available beers and several changing beers. Makes it worth coming back over and over... also great for bringing out-of-town visitors and having a good time.
Unlike a lot of pub/bar/burger places, it didn't seem to be overrun with loud, annoying drunks. Just a lot of people having fun.
First of all - there is NO BETTER place for a true beer lover than Coasters in this area. Â World of Beer may have a bigger selection, but it's a tiny, pretentious kinda place. Â Coasters is as far from pretentious as you can get. Â
They're always rotating most of their taps with new selections and everyone I've talked to who works there seems very knowledgeable about them and can offer suggestions.
I haven't eaten too many things on their menu. Â Mainly because I can't seem to stray from their burger which is perhaps my favorite in this area and one of the best I've had anywhere. Â It's gigantic and really, really tasty. Â And their curly fries are great. Â I mean, when you start drinking 7%+ alcohol beers...you tend to want some salty, fried kinda things I guess and maybe that's why I think they're so good. Â But from my recollection... they're good!
If you're a beer lover (and by that, I'm not referring to those who take down a 12-pack of Bud Light while watching a race) then you have to give Coasters a try. Â You'll be coming back.
The sandwiches are huge! Great food and I always get good service. The menu is mostly bar food but a pretty good size. I personally like the Beef on weck or The french Dip. It gets super crowded during certain televised sporting events. So if you don't watch sports and the Super Bowl is on I would stay away from here. I'm not sure how many beers on tap they have but it's at least 35.
Review Source:This was our first trip to Coasters. We'll probably be back but there are some problems. The food was good as far as bar food goes. The service was adequate and I'm sure it's probably better when they're not so slammed that they have to turn customers away for lack of seating. They have a great craft beer selection. BUT they serve their beer WAY too cold. It is already chilled and it is served in a frosted glass. A craft beer should be served at about 55 degrees. Too cold and the flavor complexities get lost. Â
I asked for an unchilled glass and my Woodchuck Amber Cider was served a 12oz glass but I was still charged for a full pint. Our waitress claimed she had no power to do anything about the price. This place needs some improvements before it warrants five stars.
Okay, I like the food and love the beer BUT...I have NEVER been here when they were not at least 2 folks short of a full wait staff. I tried again tonight but after waiting for the one waitress manning about 10 tables to get to me I gave up and went down the street to Long Doggers. Â Food and beer aren't as good but they had half the tables and 4 waitresses. I had a beer in less than a minute.
Come on guys FIGURE IT OUT!!!
Coaster's is a great Pub hidden in the corner of a plaza. Â It's a great atmosphere, with occasional nights of live music. Â The variety of beers is astounding- anyone can find a beer that they'd enjoy. Â (I suggest the Currant Lambic for anyone who usually prefers wine over beer, a little tart with a berry finish.) Â The Beef on Wick is to die for! Â Great food, great portions, and a reasonalble price. Â Don't pass this place up. Â It's a find.
Review Source:My rating is for the beer. Â The food is typical bar food and just ok, but the beer selection is killer! Â A beer connoisseur's dream as there are a TON of great selections on tap and there is usually some form of live entertainment on the weekends. Â You won't drink better beer at any establishment in the area!
Review Source:If you're a beer lover (and I'm not talking about; you drink an 18 pack if Busch every weekend, type) you will love this place. Not only do they have an awesome selection of staple beers, they have rotating taps featuring different beers. Every beer you drink, you will know its ABV, and http://beeradvocate.com rating.
The food is typical bar food and nothing special, but certainly not bad.
I go there for one reason - to drink a wide variety of my favorite IPA's on draught!
Most of the beers are above 6%, so take along a designated driver!
I love this place. Walking distance from my apartment? The largest selection of beer I've ever been privileged to drool over? Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive bartenders? More TVs than should be legally allowed? Check, check, check and check.
They've got food, too, and a full dining area. Seems like typical greasy bar fare, and the only thing I've ever eaten here are onion rings, but I'm sure the rest of the menu is at least serviceable.
As I alluded to earlier though, the beer selection is a clincher for me. Stouts, Ales, Lagers, Ciders, IPAs, whatever you want, Coasters probably has it. They feature a few local micro-brews too, which is really cool. Just do us all a favor and don't go here to drink Bud Light or something. You're missing the point if you do. Drinkability is just a make believe word for 'we've watered this down past the point of recognition'.
The bar serves liquor, too, if you enjoy whisky with your beer. And you probably do, you lush.
