I've been coming to havasu for years and have never managed to stumble inside this brewery. I decided to go in for dinner the wait was fast the service was exceptional. Jason was our server and I have to say the only reason I created an account was because of the fantastic service I had tonight. The only thing better than the service tonight was the beer and food. The blue bus beer one of the best beers I've ever had in my entire life. That paired with the el burro club sandwich was amazing. Can not wait to go back and get my growler refilled with some more! Excellent place excellent staff and phenomenal food. Your doing yourself a disservice by not trying this place!
Review Source:My family and I had the worst experience there! When we called 2 hours in advanced last Saturday for 6 people, they made it seem like it was reserved. We get there, no joke and here we are waiting in line for seats. They hostesses at the front keep telling us that it was only going to be another "few minutes". That turned into a half hour. Ten minutes later, a party of more than 12 shows up and they get seated right away. Supposedly, they had a "reservation too". Â There were other people waiting for a table which in the 45 minutes we waited, we saw many people whom were waiting decided to just leave and go to another restaurant. This place seems like they do not know how to handle multiple customers. I will never come here again and I highly recommend that if you're looking for a great place to eat with great service.. you're better off at Chillies down the street. Thumbs down for you College Street Brewhouse & Pub!
Review Source:This is a very nice place with beautiful decor. Â I parked in the closest lot to Lake Havasu Avenue but that was the back of the building, the only entrance is on the other side. Â Oops. Huge parking area.
I had a sandwich and a beer, it was good food and good beer. Â Service was excellent. They were not busy at all when I was there.
I'd go back but there are some local coupons which I had failed to bring with me, that was a mistake.
There was a yelp check in deal for some free beer cheese soup, but I didn't want soup. Â
Oh well. Â Pricy without a discount. Â At lunch. Nice place though.
Stopped here on my trek from Yuma to Vegas. Place sits away from the lake but who cares about that. Place looks fairly new and modern. Nice open vibe to it. It has a nice patio section. I sat at the bar which is pretty big. They have like 6 microbrews. Since I was driving, I only tried one, the Big Blue Van which was quite good. Very smooth with no after taste, good with a meal. Had the Pastrami on Rye w/fries which was very good, fresh. Bar had a couple TVs tuned to sportscenter with no sound. Not a sportsbar by any means but a cool spot for the mature young adult type. Service was fast and the price reasonable.
Review Source:Okay, to be fair this place needs some categorized grades.
Food: 4 stars. Â My salad was really good and I found myself eating half of my boyfriends fries off his plate. Â They were crunchy and perfectly seasoned. Â The berry salad with almonds and vinaigrette was the perfect blend of tangy, sweet, smokey, and delicious! Â My boyfriend said his burger was just OK. Â It looked a bit mushy.
Beer: 5 stars. Â I got the blueberry Big Blue Van Beer. Â YUM! Â This was light and sweet and very yummy!
Ambiance: 3 stars. Â Cool spot in kind of an industrial area with modern decor. Â The patio looked fun, but we sat inside which was kind of crowded and small with not enough TVs.
Management: 1 star. Â Staff seemed to have a hard time shuffling tables to make room for others. Â My boyfriend and I were here to watch a Bulls playoff game and management refused to change any of the TVs. Â I saw another table having the same issue while we were there.
Service: 3 stars. Â Went really well until it got busy and then our waitress got a little swamped. Â She was very nice though and apologetic for the wait. Â We probably wouldn't have even noticed if we weren't trying to leave to catch the end of a playoff game that's not on TV at their bar. Â
I have yet to find a great place at Lake Havasu to eat.
Excellent food and beer in an ultra-modern brew pub. Â I agree with others that the chocolate stout is great. Â Very good sandwiches and soup. Â I had the pulled chicken special, a little dry, but good. Their version of coleslaw, cabbage chow chow, is very good, a little sweet with hot peppers.
Unique sinks in the restrooms.
The location is rather odd, especially for Havasu. However, it's new and hip/modern. I love the inside with all the wood and glass. Depending on where you sit, you can see right into the brewing area. Or you can sit on the patio, which is connected via a large metal garage door. Overall, it's really nice!
I made the mistake of drinking way too much my first time here and let's just say I'm embarrassed to come back. Which is unfortunate because I loved their food! I ordered the Mediterranean pizza with pesto, artichokes, kalamata olives, spinach, feta and mozzarella. Oh was it delicious! Plenty to share or take home. My friend ordered their BLT, which was humongous and looked delicious. We sat in the dining area and when finished with dinner we moved to the bar, which was our mistake. The bartender definitely poured with a heavy hand! I'll be back, but I'll probably have to wear a scarf or wig next time.
Went for Valentine's Day and the food was GREAT! Broccoli cheese soup was the best I've had, Filet was tender and delicious and the flowerless chocolate cake was to die for! I even went to the kitchen window to tell the chief it was amazing.
As for beer, the seasonal Amber Lager is my new favorite. Keep up the good work guys.
Wife and I go here often. Â I really enjoy the pastrami sandwich. Â Everything we've had to eat here has been great (minus the wings, they were just average and overpriced). Â The beer is pretty average, but I'd prefer it over the other Havasu choices (I'm a craft beer snob).
I see a lot of complaints about service. Â Yes, the service here is pretty horrible, but that is Havasu. Â I'm not making excuses. Â It just seems that businesses in this town, for some reason, could care less about their customers. Â I prefer to sit at the bar so service is (usually) not much of a problem. Â
I would like to see more special/seasonal brews. Â I'm used to going into breweries weekly to see what new beers they've tapped, but not so much here.
Horrible service! Don't waste your time.... We arrived on a Thursday night and were told the wait time would be ~30-45 minutes. After about 20-30 minutes, another party walked in and apparently knew the hostess. She erased our name and replaced it with her "friends" who were quickly seated. Seriously??? When confronted, she quickly said they had reservations and that we would be seated in the time originally provided. It took them an HOUR to seat us.
Our waiter was a nice enough guy who was prompt with taking our order and bringing our drinks. Dinner took forever to come out and when it finally did arrive, two of the entrees were missing because "the other waitress gave your food to another table".....Pffft! So half of our party ate while the other two sat and waited again.
Provided that we had horrible service, the waiter offered free dessert. We accepted and requested to not have any nuts because one of the boys is allergic. So what happens? The desserts arrive with nuts.. ALL OVER... the waiter basically said that the kitchen didn't listen and then promptly took off... This entirely bad experience lasted about 3 hours.. The food wasn't that great. I recommend going elsewhere.
We go here quite often and as some say, it can depend on many factors on how the service is or can be. Â I have to say that the majority of the time service is top notch. Â
The food is always perfect. Â I have probably eaten most items on the menu and not onething has left me in limbo about flavor or quality. Â One of the things I like is the fact that the chef is always checking all the food prior to it being taken out to a table. Â The steak has to be the best around, they are always perfectly prepared and are aged to bring out the best in the meat. Â Hamburgers have been way upgraded from previous burgers as the now use Pat LaFrieda hamburger.....I wish the had LaFrieda steaks!
Drinks are always great. Â It can a little slow waiting for drinks but that is easily attributed to how busy they are most of the time. Â Their beers are the best and you know they are as the have already won awards for them!
I guess the bottom line is this place is worth waiting a little time for the food or drinks when you see the quality of what you getting. Â If your in a hurry....go to McDonald's. Â if you want the best, this is the place.
Went for a random drink with some friends and was surprised that they had a good selection of Beer and also a full bar. Â The place was really packed but we were able to get a table outside... since it wasn't 150 degrees outside this was fine. Â Our server was right there the whole time and was help full picking out what we wanted. Â They had several types of beer that even I liked ( not to big on beer) very mild so I had two! Â We all ordered the pizza and were glad we did.. awesome!!! We had a great experience there the only negative was that ( like another reviewer wrote) it seemed confused on what kind of place it was- family or bar- Â it would be great if they could somehow eliminate the family atmosphere so folks don't bring their kids with them. Â I like kids, usually on toast. Not when I go for drinks!
Review Source:This is "almost" likeable.... but the food is so-so, the lights are to bright, and its just kinda all around blah. Â Â There were lots of families and children ..... I think it is a place that is confused on what type of customer base they are after...... and we left there just a bit confused.
Review Source:Beer's were great. Food was good. Service was just ok.
The atmosphere feels a little fancy for what I'm used to in LHC, but it wasn't bad. Stacked stone walls with little art niches, loft feel, polished concrete floors, weird Asian influences.
Service was just a touch slow, but I'd come back for sure. Food seasoning was interesting, and depending on your pallet, that could be a good or bad thing.
Parking was easy enough, the place itself is kind of off the beaten path, over by the MVD.
OH, Strawberry Shortcake dessert was killer. That is all.
Had dinner tonight at College St. . We were seated and ordered ice teas. The place was full with a nice buzz. Our waiter was nice and prompt and really did a good job serving us. We ordered the classic pub burger and the meatball sub , both were good
( meatballs were just a little dry but were homemade and better than most places) plus the Green chili mac & cheese and grilled seasonal vegi's. The decor is very modern with a nice outside patio. I think the place is just on the high side price wise for the LHC area but honestly if you were in southern Cal. it would be right in there !
I will try it again sometime
I'm a little mixed about this review, since it's based on two distinct visits.
Went the first time with a large group. Â Had their rib eye and asked for the chimichurri sauce. Â The steak was good - the sauce was crap (not a traditional chimichurri). Â The sides were great. Â Beer cheese soup was good. Â The crap dip was rancid (not sure why someone in my group ordered seafood in the middle of the desert, anyway.) Â Service was fantastic.
Second visit - smaller group. Â A/C wasn't working right, so the corner we were in was hot. Â Their tap/keg system was having difficulties (really - in a brewhouse - have a backup system). Â One in our party ordered the pork chop - I tasted it - it was great. Â I had a calzone - it was a ton of dough - and not much else - and very light on the ricotta. Â This place says don't make fun of the Yankees, so I'm presuming they're from NY - well I'm from NJ and I know calzones...this wasn't a good one - if I want a blob of dough I'll order a zeppoli. Â The pizza that our group got was very good - strange - good pizza, but bad calzone? Â Not sure how that happened. Â Service was average at best, and the hostess was the worst part - she was dismissive and inattentive (you know the type - the one that's inappropriately dressed and clearly thinks she's the hotty - which she ain't.)
I'm willing to give this place another try, but they seem to be somewhat inconsistent. Â If they can correct that problem, they should be a solid 4 stars.
Went there around 9:30 on a Saturday...no line and seated right away. Â Beers were good quality...about what I expect for a nicer brewery locale. Â Didn't blow me away, but solid. Â Ordered the house burger. Â Very well made with fresh ingredients and a nice sourdough roll. Â There were about 10 sided to choose from so of course I ordered fries. Â Good service and many tv screens all around for sporting events. This is a place I will definitely come back to when in LHC.
Review Source:Eaten here twice and both experiences were great! Saw all the bad reviews & I completely disagree. Had strawberry & basil bruschetta & it was delicious! Â Pizza was good too! Â Tried the beer sampler......loved big blue van & chocolate stout. Service was good and food was ready in a timely manner.
Review Source:Stopped by here on our recent memorial day trip to havasu and really liked this place. Tried their beers and they were tasty. Really enjoyed the outdoor seating area and the whole place had a nice, open feel. Our meatball appetizer was delicious, my husband liked his sandwich quite a bit and the water aragula salad I ordered was perfect. I liked that they have all day happy hour on sunday too, that was nice!
We'd definitely come back. Only bummer is the location is kinda funky and a little out of the way.
Great ambiance, very small place. Bar is awesome, beer was decent with a few standouts. To die for chocolate stout and the big blue van. I had the new yorker sandwich, bread was fresh meats were tasty, I really enjoyed it. Accompanied by the sweet potato "chips" OMG they are dusted with nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. To die for! ...... Our server was cute, friendly and super efficient, she had great suggestions. My friend had appetizers: the crab dip, not so good and the pretzels with beer cheese soup, she loved it. The pretzels was nice and fresh too. We almost didn't go due to all the bad reviews, now we are glad we did. Thank you for a great experience....
Review Source:Here for Memorial Day weekend and found this place on Yelp. Â Love Brewco's, so I was bummed to see the recent reviews. Â I thought it might just have been due to the holiday volume so I called ahead. Â I spoke to Dina, the manager and explained I have small impatient children and won't tolerate a long wait. Â She explained that there had been a problematic server that caused a lot of problems the last couple days. Â She promised we would get great service.
She was right. Â Our food and drinks came quickly and was excellent. Â Here is a breakdown.
Beers: Â Nothing special, basic average microbrew. Â I thought most of the beers were bland and lacked body. Â The stout was decent and my favorite turned out to be the light. Â I thought the light was crisp with a nice flavor,,,surprising since I would normally never think I'd enjoy it.
Food:
First we ordered an Asian Cabbage Salad. Â Very light and flavorful. Â It had cabbage, carrots, green onion, peanuts and cucumber. Â The dressing was a tangy sesame dressing and the highlight was shredded mint that made this dish pop. Â Awesome.
We then split a pastrami sandwich with a side of panzanella. Â The pastrami was really good. Â The rye bread it was on was slightly oily/mushy, but overall a great sandwich. Â The heavy-hand with the oil continued on to the panzanella, but it too was a nice dish (panzanella is a bread salad with onions, tomatoes and dressing). Â
The kids had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Â The PB&J are made in house and you can taste it. Â It was a big dish so you might consider having your kids split a plate.
All in all, a great experience. Â Perhaps the improvement in service was due to my comments to the manager, but hey, so be it. Â I'd go back.
First off, your waiters and waitresses are the face of the restaurant. If they don't provide good customer service, it reflects poorly on everything else... hence this post.
We started the night highly anticipating the meals we were going to eat at this new restaurant, especially after the great things we've heard. We arrived with great expectations and right away were greeted with problems.. Read whichever you deem important to read about. They are clearly labeled:
1) THE HOSTESS. She was also the manager... as the first face we see, you should be greeting us with a smile and genuinely appreciating our business. Its fine, this could be overlooked. I'll get back to her later.
2) THE BUGS. I understand that its summer time and we're eating at a mostly open restaurant. I also understand that we were eating on the patio, so the chances of us running into more bugs was very high, but if you want to be known as a high class restaurant then invest in OFF candles at every table (you can go to http://amazon.com and get a double pack for $7.92, you're welcome!). They kept landing in the food, how is that in any way appetizing!? I do not want the extra protein, thank you very much! If I did, I would have ordered it myself!!
3) THE WAIT. We ordered 4 items off the menu, as well as two beers. The beers came promptly and were delicious. Is it something we would come back for? Not after the service we just had. We checked in right after we ordered our food and were really excited for the food to come! I got my strawberry bruschetta right away and then the wait................... we were trying to figure out what was taking so long, then realized that the table next to us got our wings when they decided to to speak up and say "uhhh, we didn't order any wings! Where did these come from!?" about 8 minutes later a server walks up, apologizes for the misunderstanding and then says they'll be bringing the food out shortly. We ordered a salad, wings, and pizza. There was no reason for it to take 45 minutes to come out on a non-busy night.
4) THE FOOD. Alright. Nothing Special. Strawberry Bruschetta was too many flavors trying to blend together and just missing it's mark. Pizza cheese, was very delicious. Pizza itself, was just alright; Asian Cabbage Salad, Applebee's is better; Wings were not anything to where i can't even describe them. They were comparable to something I can throw into the oven and be more satisfied since it would take half the time! THE FOOD WAS NOT WORTH THE WAIT. bottom line.
5) THE WAITRESS. April didn't refill waters, didn't apologize for bringing out the food to the wrong table, did not find any need to compensate us for their poor customer service. Snapped at us when we asked to speak to the manager and said "look it, we gave you $3 off because you did get your wings and you did them under 40 minutes. Okay?" and walks away. Once it was time to pay she was very nice to me and separated my check from the rest of the group, she took my card for my bill and their cash for theirs then comes back with only mine and says "Thank You for coming by tonight, have a good night!" and promptly walks away without even acknowledging the rest of the table or giving them back their $8 in change. She was no where to be found for another 10 minutes. We asked for a manager yet again, and the fun starts.
6) THE MANAGER. She must be good friends with the waitress because she was defending her poor Waitressing behavior by saying she must have had a lot of tables to attend to and must be having a bad day today. We saw April laughing at the bar with her coworkers. Don't lie to our face. She said she saw the ticket for when the food order was placed and said we only waited 30 minutes. So its really hard to go by our word when the kitchen says another thing. I checked into the restaurant right after the order was placed and one other made a phone call right after April left our table, don't tell us we didn't know how long we waited or try to even argue with us on this point. And as a MANAGER, you should be more understanding with your customers than that. She told us that $3 was more than enough for what we encountered because she has heard two different stories from her servers and our table.
So not only did we have poor customer service, not only was it brought up to the managers attention, it was addressed very poorly and pretty much told us that they don't care about what our opinions are on a new restaurant and what they could do to better help them in this business.
We will not be returning. I don't want to know if they improve or not, but i wish them all the best and highly suggest they dismiss April from any waitressing duties in the future.
I'm still not sure how I feel about College Street, but my family chose this place as a location for family dinner recently. Â I ordered a garden burger and it was not memorable cause it took me about 10 minutes just to remember what I ordered, but I got the sweet potato chips as a side, the flavor was really good, but some of them were still soft with hard edges and seemed undercooked. Â I'm not sure if that was the idea, but the cinnamon was a nice touch. Â My husband ordered the green chili macaroni, and it seemed bland to me. Â I know that we had a bad experience and maybe I just don't want to like it, but I still continue to hear so many good things and I was hoping that the recent visit would change my opinion.
The server was much better, but I feel like she was ready to go home or had a long day because her patience was short when I asked about menu items and we are all human and entitled to have a long day :)
View from the patio was great.
My in-laws have been raving about this place since it opened and we could not wait to get to Havasu and try it out!
The wait was long, but we did have a large party and they were kind of busy. Â The restaurant is not very large inside. Â Our service was attentive and friendly once seated. Â
My husband had a Mediterranean pizza and i had a BLT with a side of mac and cheese. DELISH! Â Someone at our table had the chips which were fab and another person had great the lasagna :)
First off, waiter was super nice.
Second, the food depending on what you order can be really good or okay.
Thirdly, they didn't have any fries. New place still working out the kinks in supply and demand.
I ordered a burger along with another person at my table and they asked us how we would like it cooked. I was surprised because most places like this just do it well done. I am not picky but if you ask why not.
Since they didn't have fries we ordered the sweet potato chips.
Both burgers came out super well done, it was good but don't ask if you want it medium or medium well if the chef is just going to cook them completely.
Micro brew was good.
Easily could be a 4 Star place but due to the little mishaps I couldn't do it. Has a lot of potential plus the view of the brewing area is pretty sweet.
I was in Lake Havasu, visiting from the San Francisco Bay Area, and I was amazed to experience such amazing and tasty food, beautifully presented at a Havasu restaurant! Seriously, it could have been in any top class restaurant in SF, Chicago, or New York (without the stuffiness!) If you go to Havasu, you have to check out College Street!
The food is incredible! And so reasonably priced. While I was in town I went there three different times. During those visits, I had the crab dip appetizer, beer and cheese soup, the filet, the Italian pizza, and the Cajun shrimp. All amazing!! Seriously, you will go here and be planning your next visit back before you even leave the restaurant.
The venue is really well designed and has a welcoming feel. There is also an outdoor patio with a great view of the lake. Our server was really friendly. They can get busy so you may experience a wait, but just order a beer, relax, and you won't be waiting long for the best meal in town!
Another thing I liked....they really try to support/promote local businesses and get as many of their ingredients locally and fresh! Gotta love that :)
If there were a MINUS 5 stars, I would check that box. Â Unfortunately, I have to settle for a 1-star rating for this establishment.
My wife had heard good things about this place (on Yelp) and was eager to try it. Â
We were seated, and we both ordered sandwiches - certainly nothing tricky. Â We waited, and waited. Â Our drinks are now empty and needing a refill. Â We continue to wait. Â I overhear other people at tables around us complaining of how long everything is taking, but still our server doesn't come by to give us an update, as I feel they should if they are running behind. Â Our drinks are now nothing but ice, and in need of a refill, and I notice a mother with her kids, and she's packing things up as she's frustrated by the long wait for her food. Â She just leaves.
At that point, my wife tells me that she's over it, and we both have to get back to work. Â I look at my watch and it's been over 45 minutes. Â FORTY FIVE MINUTES FOR SANDWICHES IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. Â To add to that, empty beverages without refills is just another insult.
I grab our server, "Jason" who was busy socializing with what appeared to be a table of his friends/family (I'm guessing this had a lot to do with the delays). Â I tell him we're over it and to please give me the bill for our beverages. Â He turns around and I see him saying things under his breathe and shaking his head. Â This completely irritated me. GUY, IT'S NOT OUR FAULT YOU AND YOUR KITCHEN HAVE BAD SERVICE AND WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR 45 MINUTES. Â Don't get frustrated at us, get mad at your kitchen, or yourself.
As he walks away, the hostess offers her unsolicited two cents and says, "sandwiches take 15 minutes to bake". Â Really? Â First of all, if that math were correct and you had a small "one sandwich" oven, that means we'd already have 3 sandwiches ready in the time were there. Â Secondly and more importantly, you don't bake a sandwich with meat that's already cooked for 15 minutes, dummy! Â That would dry out the sandwich. Â I'm not sure if this hostess misspoke and clearly can't even make herself toast, or if the kitchen really is baking sandwiches for 15 minutes. Â You just need to heat up the bread and melt the cheese, people, not bake me a full blown pizza.
To their credit, they offered us a 20% discount on our way out - NO THANKS. Â If I wanted to go to a restaurant and NOT eat, I can do that from the parking lot.
Another fabulous addition to Havasu!
The boyfriend's family and I came here on Christmas eve with high expectations. Because his parents live in Havasu, this was the new hip and happening brewery his parents were excited for us to try.
Like most Havasu restaurants, the exterior was simple. Industrial almost. Perhaps it's the extreme heat that keeps restaurants owners from investing in exterior decor. Whatever the case, as soon as you walk in, the exterior is forgotten and you're impressed by the sleek decor... IN HAVASU!! I felt I was at a trendy spot in LA. College Street Brewhouse is such a welcomed change to Havasu!
The hostess greeted us and we opted for outside seating rather than waiting for inside seating.
Outside, we waited. And waited. And waited.
There was some miscommunication between the staff and we waited for a good 25 minutes before someone finally came to our table in the back. Yes, they were busy, but it wasn't an overwhelming busy. The hostess came to our table and apologized for the delay and explained there was a miscommunication and comped our first round of drinks. We were slightly irritated by wait, but the free drinks instantly lifted our spirits!
This is what distinguishes great restaurants from the rest. It's the service. I felt they kept our business by acknowledging that they erred. Saying sorry goes such a long way!
The food and drinks came and everything was delicious. I had the New Yorker Sandwich which was perfect: spicy, tangy, and savory. I've always been a big fan of arugula in sandwiches! The bf loved his Brewhouse burger. Their Italian Job was great too if you're looking for meat!
Can't wait to come back for more!
It gets 4 stars, but it's truly not impressive. If there were an option for 3.5 stars, I'd say that's where it'd land.
The ambiance is fantastic. I loved that the bar was large, and that the focal point of anywhere in the restaurant is the brewing room. It's fun to see where the beer you're drinking came from. I've had better micro-brews however. The nut brown ale was refreshing, but lacked any real body that would set it aside any other brewery.
The food was actually very good. I had the College Street salad, and it hit the spot. Just the right combination of nuts, fruits and crumbled cheese. I'd go back just for the salad.
Having been to several places to eat (and drink) in Havasu, I'd frequent this place more than others because of the atmosphere and food. Words of warning though, don't be the last one out when they close on a Friday night... the place is way out by itself across the street from the courthouse... the fuzz will know where you were and it wasn't the courthouse.
