The Comfort Meet Market is an unassuming tavern in a quiet little town. That's precisely why I felt so at home there. It's open Friday & Saturday nights and run by a husband and wife who are more apt to be sitting with the customers and talking than waiting behind the bar. Don't come in looking for fancy shots - it's bottles of beer, glasses of wine, and cans of soda with popcorn & snacks. VW and Beatles memorabilia line the wall from the owner's collection and there's a steady stream of classic rock coming from the stereo.
Nobody is a stranger here. Before we finished our first drink, we were conversing with a table of locals. A couple brings their dogs in on occasion. The weekend we were visiting, a woman from Austin had booked up most of the B&B rooms in town for her birthday and was having a party that night at the Market. Instead of being sent away for a private party, we were invited. It's that kind of town and that kind of bar.
