Many years ago, when I was in my early twenties, I dated a guy from Bristol.  We used to meet here after work almost every night, and I loved this place.  I still have stories about this place ten or so years later.  But I have been sad as my friends can be a tad bit on the unadventurous side and don't want to drive all the way to Bristol to drink. But last night, I was going to the theatre in Bristol, and this place happened to be around the corner, and it HASN'T CHANGED A BIT!!!!  I loved every second of it!  It has everything a dive bar should have, a good bartender, beer signs on the walls, pool tables, everything.  I want so badly to move to Bristol and make this my home bar, but alas, when ya ain't got no money-it is what it is!

Proper, run of the mill town dive
    Entices with the prices
    Decent small music venue

$5 Rolling Rock pitchers all the time, and I grabbed a $3.75 Loose Cannon - that's a very good start.

My friends were drinking well and laughing hard when I arrived - even better.  The band was playing well and the sound system matched the space and crowd nicely - well-played.

Courtney isn't merely slinging cheap here suds, either - she wants to talk flavor profile with you, let you try a different offering, and see what your palate says. Very nice and appreciated.

The place itself caps out at a 3 because of the building itself - the bar space just isn't quite 4 material.  Bring the right mindset and mood, and you're going to (not quite love, but very much) like this bar.

If you're looking for suds and maybe some live tunes in Bristol, give Common Pub a shot.  You'll likely approve.

First off let me start by saying that that this is a "grown up" bar.  So if you're a college kid who wants to come here, leave your Jersey Shore drama BS at the door... The regulars WILL NOT tolerate it! Although it comes off as a little dark and seedy, the drinks are are affordable and the bartenders are very friendly! they have a fairly midrange menu at great prices, although admittedly the consistency is hit or miss. (especially the blade meat). All in all if you're in town and want to see a live band on Saturday with no cover and have a few cheap drinks, then check this place out.

This dive bar totally blew my socks off. Jello shots, live music, and a gigantic interior. NOT what you expect from the outside looking in.

This place needs to get some windows or something because after working across the street for four years, we all thought it was some deep dark crack den or something. You'd see the guys outside hanging out starting at like 9am. We seriously joked about how sketchy this place was for a full four years, until our office closed and we decided to do a Bristol pub crawl.

We walked in and were in shock. The place is gigantic. They've got a bar, tables, pool tables, a dance floor, a stage, you name it.

Once you get inside, you can see all of their live music flyers and can tell immediately that this is one hoppin' joint, possibly even for the young crowd. They should really throw some flyers up OUTSIDE, huh?

Now, we went in around 5pm, so it was pretty dead, but you had your usual day-time drinkers sitting around the bar in their leather jackets and redneck t-shirts. It's true, I didn't just make that up. I'll post a picture to prove it to you.

We did get a little bit of a "who are these people" vibe from the customers (we were definitely the youngest of the bunch by at least 15 years) but the bartender was friendly and happy to serve us up a round of jello shots. $1 jello shots by the way, and they were potent.

Oh, and they serve food! Like, real food! I don't know how good it is, but they serve full-on fried and pasta dinners.

Let me just say that we were all pretty mad that we waited until our last day in Bristol to come into this place. It probably should get three stars, because there's nothing spectacular about it, but it merits a fourth star simply because of the shock value and because I don't want people to be scared to wander in.
