After years of driving past this place I finally stopped in for supper. Â The service was the local high school and they did OK. Â A little slow, but definitely not something to keep me from returning. Â The meal was good. Â The fries were cooked perfectly, nice and crispy, golden brown slight sprinkle of salt. Â I had a chicken wrap and it was everything I expected. Â The ice cream was high quality and the line of folks for take-out ice cream kept growing. Â Â Â Â
I'm taking away 2 stars for this cake I asked to go. Â The red velvet was a huge slice, but it was gritty. Â Ended up tossing it out. Â Maybe the batter was completely mixed, or one ingredients were old or didn't dissolve correctly . Â I was very disappointed with it. Â The other problem is the portion differences between cake slices. Â The red velvet was huge, at least twice as big as the coconut. Â Sadly the coconut was very dense inside and it may have been undercooked.
Overall a great place for diner type food - its fresh, and prepared nicely. The ice cream is great and next time  I'll stay clear of the cake.
We only came to taste the advertised homemade ice cream. It was scrumptious. My husband and I had a brownie sundae and I would venture to say that we should've just gotten one. It was enormous for one person. The service is pleasant. The price is a bit high. We will, however, come back again. The Cookie Monster ice cream was blue! That was a wonderful surprise. It made for a great treat at the end of a long day.
Seems like a local hang out spot as people all seem to know each other. Think friendly's but not chain-y.
My boyfriend and I come here often for their homemade, high-quality ice cream. Â I can tell it's very good ice cream because I'm slightly lactose-intolerant, and it gives me a stomachache after eating. But I won't stop getting it because it's so delicious! Â They have the classic ice cream combinations, some of their signature flavors like Cookie Monster, and seasonal ones like Candy Cane. Â Their sundaes may seem expensive but they are HUGE, I can barely finish a regular-sized one. Â The atmosphere of the place feels like an old-time ice cream shoppe, with fluted glass containers and big jars of penny candy for sale on the counter.
I also give them extra stars for how well they handled post-Sandy mayhem in our neighborhood. Â One of the few places to have power the day after the storm, Confectionately Yours dealt with a steady stream of customers who needed phones charged, a TV to watch the news, and warm food. They only had one or two employees on hand (and a few friends to help serve and bus tables) so service was slow, but forgivable. It was one of the most necessary burgers I ever ate.
For the restaurant section, the food has been consistently good each time I've visited. However, I always think about how expensive everything is. While the food is good, I feel as if I could get the same type of food elsewhere for a lesser price. The same goes for their confectionary section - the chocolates are good, but just too expensive. It's a family run business, and I'm happy they have loyal customers. For me, this will have to remain a place for special occasions.
Review Source:When this place first opened my wife and I wanted it to succeed. The food was good and the ice cream...well go there and get the Cookie Monster and you'll see why we keep going back.
When we first went when they opened they were still feeling their way around. Service was pretty bad, you'd wait a long time. However, since they opened the service has really stepped it up and we no longer sit twiddling our thumbs wondering if our waitress forgot about us.
If you had a bad experience a year ago I'd definitely recommend you going back. I haven't eaten a bad thing there yet and I don't anticipate I will any time soon.
It hurts my soul to rate Confec's as 3 stars but the service lately has been terrible. Â They have the absolute best burgers around which is kind of strange for an ice cream joint. Â They have large cakes that look enticing on the counter but everyone I have tried was so dried out it was unbearable.
Last time I went here to pickup my take-out order I literally stood at the door for 20 minutes with two other people without being addressed by any of the waitresses or the kids behind the counter. Â I decided to wait there without saying anything just to see how long it would take to be acknowledged. Â Turns out I still had to wait for my food (over 30 minutes from when I called it in at 5pm) anyway but if I was waiting to be seated or served I would of been steaming. Â Sadly this type of service has become the norm here lately.
Rude, horrible and pathetic were a few of the words uttered by our large group during our visit to describe the service we had received. Of the ten or so adults, all of them said they would never be back. I would highly discourage anyone from visiting this place. There are too many restaurants to give your money to. Â They clearly don't want to do anything to get you to come back. This was not an individual bad server, but extended to all three waitresses that are regularly there as well as the old man (owner). Â It is family run and they are just plain poor business people. How in the world they have stayed in business is a mystery. Their homemade ice cream must be the savior. There isn't a zero star option, so I give it one.
Keep in mind that my profession for the last seven years has me eating at restaurants almost every day and this is the only time that I have made it a point to write a bad review. Worst service I have ever received.
I had to write another update on this place. Â Tonight, just now, I had the meatloaf. Â It was so, so good. Â I was so happy that the mash was made on the premises, and I'm pretty sure the gravy had fresh-made components too because it was delicious and didn't taste like the jarred or canned types. Â And the meatloaf itself was delicious.
I'm not a regular, so every time I visit, I'm surprised at how good the food is. Â If I wasn't a student and had more money, I'd definitely be a regular however.
We're regulars here. Â Its a step back to an old-time town diner. Â Very fresh food, very well made. Â The family members each contribute to making the food. Â
Great fried fish on Fridays. Â I love the blackened chicken sandwiches, nice and spicy. Â The homemade cakes are worth a visit on their own.
Great place for a family lunch or brunch. Fresh homemade ice cream and good burgers. People rave about their 'fish fry' night but I have yet to try it....also sounds a little too oily for me. I normally get the cajun chicken sandwich. Â They are extremely kid friendly and always make you feel welcome. The strip mall they are located in is pretty dead though....so not too much neighboring but some might actually like this...
Review Source:Been to new location two or three times. Â Love the old fashioned, yet modern, interior. Â Family friendly dining with tables, booths, and a large wooden ice cream bar complete with stools! Â There's a confectionary area, gifts, and private dining room in the back. Â Clean, comfortable. Â Great retro feeling.
Food is good; a little better than diner food. Â Prices average. Â Service very good. Â Family run establishment. Â Parking super easy. Â Glad there's no TV. Â It's a good place to bring your parents and kids.
My husband and I used to frequent the old location for ice cream all the time. Â The other night I thought I'd drop in to get some Easter candy. Â Boy was I surprised. The new place is so cute! Â I had to go home and get my husband and convinced our neighbors that we all needed ice cream. Â We all went and enjoyed 3 scoop sundaes. Â They had never been to the original place but they were pleasantly surprised. Â We will definitely be back and I'm upset it took us this long to try out the new location!
Review Source:I've lived nearby their original location for about 10 years now, but now they are even closer, I had to go finally visit. Went here two times last week- the first time, me and the SO went to grab dessert. We were craving something sweet but not ice cream, and though I knew Confectionately Yours had ice cream, I wasn't sure if they had anything else. We decided to give it a shot, and on the counters were 5 giant cake plates with beautiful cakes enclosed in their domes. Jackpot! I was just thinking we would luck out with some candy. We got a slice of their yellow cake to go and a chocolate milk shake. The cake slice was pretty big, and we ate it over the course of two days. It was good, but a little dry, maybe because it was right before closing we went in.
The second time I visited was on a mom-daughter date after the movies. we were hungry and decided to go here. Our server was great and we luckily just beat the rush for early friday evening dinner (friday is their fish fry day- sure to be more popular during this time of the year because of Lent). Our server was great and took our order quickly. My mom got the pastrami sandwich, and I got the Jessica Salad. The portion was decent- my salad was pretty big, maybe a little too big for the plate they served it on, since it was nearly spilling out. The Jessica Salad is lettuce, bacon, chicken tenders, hard boiled egg, tomato, cucumbers, and cheese. To finish off our dinner, we shared a scoop of ice cream.
Service was good, and the food was good and reasonably priced. There are a lot of people working there- lots of high school students, so your table will be cleared off the minute you put your fork down. A nice place for families and for a good meal that you want to end with a yummy dessert.
I wasnt sure whether this was strictly a dessert place or an actual restaurant. Â So one night we were in a mood for dessert and decided to swing by here. Â That answered my question. Â Its a restaurant with good dessert! Â
This place had a nice decor. Â A family type restaurant. Â Alot of kids there with their parents. Â Had an actual menu with real food and desserts. Â We just stayed for desserts.
According to the staff, their ice cream is homemade. Â Their chocolate marshmallow flavor was pretty good. Â They also make homemade chocolates. Â Gotta go back here again and try different flavors!
With a very small town feel, this is good place to come and grab a bite. Â I'd been here a couple times, and most recently came for prime rib night. Â The prime rib was a good cut, but it was cooked more well done than I (and others) had asked for. Â The vegetables were fresh, cups refilled timely, and service is always friendly. Â The ice cream and store-made chocolates after dinner are delightful. Â Overall, friendly service, good food. Â But I'm not sure I'd be back for prime rib night.
Review Source:If you are looking for a place to bring the kids any day of the week, look no further. Â Confectionately Yours is a great family restaurant. Â The owners are respectful, caring and always come up and say hi. Â They truly care about their customers and it shows in their service and food. Â
'Confects' is known for their ice cream. Some of the best homemade ice cream around. Â Tons of options available (fat free, sugar free, and every flavor imaginable.) Â
Also, ever since they moved to the Franklin Town Center, there has been more room and better ambiance.
The kids love going to 'Confects'.
