Michael!  You always treat us with kindness and outstanding customer service.  Our favorite place to grab a couple of drinks while visiting Kewaunee.  The food is all right--with limited options around, The Cork tries to fill a higher-end yet reasonably priced niche.  I had the fish and chips and really enjoyed the fish--well-done.

Like a diverse range of beers? The Cork is for you. Get the Queen cut prime rib and ask to have it "oscared" for an extra dose of awesome.

I've been to The Cork twice for drinks and music and, based on those experiences, I would've given the place four stars. Tonight I had dinner here, for which I would only give one star.  First of all, it took nearly ten minutes after being seated for our waitress to greet us, though the restaurant was not busy. After ordering, we were given a basket of bread. One type of roll had green specks in it, which my uncle and I both launched into, thinking it would be dill or another equally delicious herb. My first mouthful prompted me to say, "It tastes like..." and we said at the same time: "dirt".  They literally tasted like ground. The French rolls were pretty good, though we did have to raid another table for butter - we only had one pat for 3 people. The other two in my party ordered perch, and said the tarter sauce tasted bad, the coleslaw was delicious but had a funky aftertaste, and the fish itself paled in comparison to, say, Mackinaws. My uncle also had to wait ten minutes to drink his wine because the chemical odor from the dishwashing process was so strong. I ordered the shrimp and asparagus fettuccine alfredo, with a veg blend subbed for the shrimp because I'm a vegetarian. The only good parts of the whole dish were the pea pods and broccoli; the texture of the (obviously) frozen asparagus was revolting and the frozen carrots and squash were rubbery. The alfredo was flavorless and, along with the pasta, reminded me of paste. I tried to get up the nerve to eat more of it, since it was a rather high price of $14.95, by slowly eating forkfulls of my bland side of wild rice, but finally just picked every pea pod and broccoli crown out of the massive heap and cut my losses (I would've just sent it back but my uncle said I'd dilly-dallied too long for that to be acceptable). The waitress didn't ask how our meals were; in fact, when she asked if she could get me a box and I replied no and told her why, she just said "ok" and walked away.   Perhaps she's in the wrong business.  I'd heard the steaks are good - maybe you'd do better with those.

In other words, pull up a stool for a drink and some music in the cozy bar, but probably give the food a miss.

This was one of the highlights of my trip to Kewaunee. Stopped in for drinks at the bar, unfortunately we were too late for dinner and not interested in the late night menu. Bartender/owner was really friendly and welcoming. Nice bar area with a fireplace, dimly lit, and cozy seating. The crowd seemed relaxed and good natured, I don't see bar fights happening in this establishment, it's too comfy. One thing that was noticeably different from the bars at home was the amount of ice cream drinks being made. Gold Cadillacs and Grasshoppers 2-4 at a time. All ordered by guys too! My mind went straight to Talbott, but that's not the case here. Ice cream drinks are what you order after dinner like dessert. Makes sense, but I think I would prefer a coffee with Bailey's and an ice cream sundae.
