Nice place, good dance music and crowd. Â BUT for a place to charge $20 at the door and $10 a drink, you'd expect not to get ripped off with knock off liquor in a high priced bottle. Â Basically, it seems they take high end bottles of liquor and fill them up with crappy versions of what it should really be. Â I experienced this with all 3 of my drinks the night I went. Â Buyer beware, stick to bottom shelf liquor, because that's what you're gonna get regardless of what you pay. Â NOT COOL COSTAS! Â I'd expect that from some dive bar, but not a "high end" night club like your establishment is advertised as.
Review Source:This place suckkkkssss. No girls, middle of nowhere, awful drinks. Make sure you blackout before you go because drinks are weak. I wish i had 4 hands so i can give this place 4 thumbs down. I went in dec so it could be my fault. Either way not worth the drive, I wish my friend hit me in the face while golfing earlier in the day so I didnt have to submit myself to such misery.
Save money and drive to vegas
Eh, not too shabby.
We got here and, no one was here, thankfully we didn't have to pay to get in, however, you aren't "allowed" to leave because there is no way of knowing you paid once you try to get back in. HELLO! Wrist bands could work, or stamps?
I first walked in a the bar is a pretty decent size, the prices are okay, a bit pricey. The awkwardness of a few tables sitting in the middle of nowhere and the dance floor being a bit too small for how opened spaced this place is.
The music however was good, surprisingly. The people we met there, were interesting to say the least, all were nice though. Guys tend to be a bit more ballsy, if you will, given there are not as many options as if you were in Vegas.
I did like my bartender though, she was very nice!
I had fun, just being with friends and not a care in the world, as I wouldn't see anyone ever again, most likely. If you go with no expectations, you can have the best time!
And this place is not opened on the week days.
This place was ok. Don't expect a Vegas quality place, but is good for a hotel club. The music was good. There was a lot of people, but it wasn't SO crowded that you couldn't move. Service was ok.
There were 2 police officers inside at all times. They told me they are hired to be there. I liked that. Any time there are police officers there, you can guarantee there will be no problems, and everything is safer.
Only been here for private events (the club usually gets rented out when there are conferences)... So, on the plus side it's always been open bar. Â
The downside is that the place is just meh. Â And usually, because there are only limited # of nights and unlimited businesses looking for new clients, there are way too many overlapping events happening at the same time, so, every time I went to Costas, it has always been pretty much empty. Â
The place is huge and unless you are guaranteeing a huge turnout, don't reserve it for a private event because it will look cavernous and dead.
Me and my 5 girlfriends got to Costas at about 10pm, considering that we were in Palm Desert, this was one of the few places to party that was not a cougar bar.
The whole place is just weird...they're trying to go for a hollywood/vegas style club, so they're charging those kind of prices, but it doesn't even compare. The dance floor looks like its someone's jazzed up basement. Â The music was pretty good..a little all over the place, but it wasn't bad. The patio was so poorly managed..barely any tables or chairs, and just unkempt. The drinks were slightly expensive, but not bad for a club. Â
I also felt like there was hundreds of girls and like 30 guys. I really didn't care, but if you're single, it's not to your advantage.
If you're drunk this place is a 3, if you're sober it's a 2.
Definitely for the older crowd! The music really sucked... but I won't blame that on the DJ because I know the older people and the girls from the bachelorette party were probably requesting the songs. One moment there would be a semi-decent, kind of current hit, and then it'd be followed up with some Kelly Clarkson song, where all the older ladies would just be bouncing around and singing along and not really dancing. It was like a room full of cougars and awkward aunties... and the occasional old guy creeper.
Review Source:I have read the previous reviews and can understand where they are coming from. But a group of friends and I go every year for a boy's trip to Palm Desert. We make our annual trip to Costa's and it never ceases to blow my mind how awesome of a time we have there. The drinks may be a little over priced ($11/drink), but overall we have the time of our lives there. We have never opted for the VIP area, but that looks fun as well. We will be headed back soon...
Review Source:Oh gosh. This was our first stop in Coachella Valley. I was told that this place is usually the hot spot for bachelorette parties and cougars.
Although I was at a happy level of intoxication and I was with an awesome group of people, the DJ was terrible! Horrible transitions and he kept playing the same songs over and over. Started house-y and went straight to hip hop.
The place itself always had ample space. The crowd was definitely a mix of a various people (older, younger, suited up, super casual, etc). And no cover, which is always a plus.
Don't think I'd be back though. I've never seen palm springs as a nightclub-ish area anyways. That's what the Nevada desert is good for!
the worst place we have ever been to. unfriendly and when we tried to have a seat, 3 guys descended on us to tell us this was for VIP only and private parties...no indication of such an area, since the area was not roped off. don't waste your time too many wonderful places in PS that will treat you much better. we come here during the winter months year after year and spend a lot of money at restaurants and bars and this will one place we would not recommend
Review Source:I'm only giving this place a 4 because of the good looking women. The music was ok.... They played music you'd hear on the radio and the dj switched songs every 20 seconds which made it hard to get into. The VIP seating is so overpriced! $300? The VIP remained empty the whole night... They should consider dropping the cost significantly, otherwise what's the point? The outside area has no seating except for 2 concrete benches... Add some chairs, tables with a dedicated waitress here and now you have another are. The people seem friendly, and even though the place was half packed, it was still popping. I'm an LA guy and I have clubbed from OC, to SD, to SF, TJ and Vegas. If this was a local place, I would return to it without a problem. A note to the DJ, stop mixing your music so frequently and don't jump from hip hop to house, those are two very different genres.
Review Source:Was there this past Saturday night and the place was packed to compacity. We had a table in the closed off VIP section, which was key, as otherwise it would have been unbearably clausterphobic in there. Table service was on-point and our server was super attentive. I loved that each table had a large area of space for groups to dance and sit.
As far as Costa's "ambiance", not much has changed since I was last there. The place is still super dated, the neon laser lights were going, and the smoke machines were on full blast.
For a hotel night club Costas was really not that cringe-worthy. The $15 cover charge is ridiculous, especially if you're staying at the Marriott, but all-in-all, it wasn't a horrible experience. Sure, it's a little trashy. Sure, the interior is dated and the bartenders are slow. Sure, they blast smoke machines that make you cough into your vodka soda...but the music was decent, the dance floor was big and it was crowded with attractive young people.
If you don't have a car and don't want to drop a ton of cash on cabs, it'll do the trick.
I don't care if this is the only "night club" in the area. This place is ghetto! I'd rather go to a club in south Central LA :) Everything about this place is just wrong. Bad service, watered down drinks, it smells like dirty diapers, rude- hating people and crappy music. Â I can go on forever about my horrible experience but I think you get the picture. Don't waste your time or your money here.
Review Source:I came here for a bachelorette party on 4/9/11... Were were 1 of 7 that night! My friend went to get another drink and the bartender says to her "Didn't you JUST get a drink?!" trying to make her feel like an alcoholic... I on the other hand didn't drink due to some food poisoning issues at Mikado (dinner before the club), the bartender charged me $3 for club soda... and then my wallet was stolen while I was touching up my lipgloss in the bathroom. :( The music was fun, lots of good 90's hip hop and other throwbacks our group loved! There were plenty of cougars and older couples getting down which is always fun to see.
Review Source:We went there last night. We paid 800 dollars table and we had the worse service
The manager  she was very rude and when we start talking to her she told us "get the hell out of my club"
We all got so shocked from her respond
I will never recommend to anyone.
That place has very bad service and very bad management
I will never go back....
This place has been THE game in town for late night club action since as long as I can recall. Â The bachelorette parties flock here like wildebeest on the Serengeti while the creepers stalk like crocs in the river. Â The DJ was decent but managed to throw off the vibe every now and then with some terrible cut that appealed to 5% of the crowd. Â The VIP section located on the plateau center stage was as lame as the wannabe cool guy clowns acting out for the crowd and hitting on every decent looking woman in the place. Â If you can stomach the unjustified pretentiousness and just have fun being there it's can be a good time. Â Where else are you gonna go?
Review Source:Not anything special or too bad about this club, but from my research it seems like one of the few options in the area. It was either here or go out to the club at Morongo, so we decided on Costas. Â Â
If you are looking for a place to go for a bachelorette party, there must have been at least 5 bachelorette parties going on that night. A record for me. Â As for the people mentioning the lines, there were no lines the night we went and the club was reasonably filled.
To ADD TO ALL THE ABOVE AND BELOW COMMENTS ON COSTA'S, perhaps your not searching on YELP or having trouble locating other night club life, but try the Casinos: Fantasy Springs has at least 2 Clubs/lounge with music (live) and No Cover.$15-20 Cover & a bad time is a loser if you ask me! Go to Indio location for Fantasy Springs and other hotels/restaurants in Rancho Mirage or Palm Springs. Palm Desert mostly has restaurant bars, some hotel lounges but not night clubs.
Review Source:Are you really into crashing 10 bachelorette parties tonight? Then head to Costas. Our concierge recommended this venue to us as one of the only two nightclubs in the area (the other being Stir) and while we were fully awed by the hotel, we'd much rather hang out at the Lobby Bar than wait in line, pay $15 cover, only to crash in on one too many bachelorette parties! The club itself isn't even designed that special or unique..
Review Source:This place is the only choice you have for nightlife if you're staying at the Marriott. They make you pay because they can. $10 Fridays and $15 Saturdays. I should have read the reviews and tried to get out of it. Everything about this place was pretty mediocre, but it was entertaining enough.
Review Source:This club is more Hollywood than the clubs in Hollywood. Long and chaotic lines, people bribing the bouncers, being pushed and shoved on the dance floor, exclusive VIP sections... I loved every minute of it.
I didn't like that women still had to pay the $20 cover fee, even when on the guest list, but whatever.
The music was decent here, I loved the classic throwbacks.
Why the hell did I come all the way to Palm Springs to be treated like I'm in Hollywood?
That was the question on my mind as I waited in line for 20 minutes--while on a birthday guest list--and forked over $20--while dressed to the nines (tens even). Just what.the.hell. But what are you going to do when this is the only club for miles of dry desert hills?
Decent music (loved the Jay-Z throw backs), semi-nice bartenders (gave my girls free water twice) and LOTS of pushing and creepy guys. Eh, Labor Day weekend. What do you expect.
Just about the only place in all of Palm Springs for some real action!! You can absolutely party here. Just be sure to wear your linen and if you're a bunch of guys, be prepared to pay up, wait in a very long line or both. Great for some fun and the people watching isn't half bad either...
Review Source:This place should be located on "Cougar Club Dr." because that's what it was. Â The bachelorette party sauntered over here after we were done drinking and dancing at Firehouse (review to follow) at around 11:30. Â The bouncer wanted us to pay $5/person to get in but luckily one of the girls talked to him and he let us all in for free.
The place smelled like FEET and it was pretty packed (probably because it's the only club in Palm Springs). Â One of the bridesmaids told the DJ it was Danielle's bachelorette party so the bartender gave her a free drink (blowjob - what else?).
We continued dancing till last call and we even got to go "VIP" which was just an area with couches where some girls sat and rested.
I gave it 3 stars because it's Palm Desert...what else can you expect? It's the only club out there and you can't compare it to places out here or Vegas. Â It was quite hilarious to see a 50 something cougar dancing with a 30+ man. It was quite entertaining.
Went there last night (Saturday night) for a bachelorette party and arrived around 11:30. Â We had reserved a table in advance so there was no wait to get in when we arrived, although there was definitely a line. Â The place seemed to be the perfect level of crowded. Â The music was fantastic. Â Everyone was dancing and having a good time. Â Bathrooms were clean and the line never took too long. Â Also, there were plenty of cabs waiting to take us back to our hotel when we got out. Â A fabulous night!!
Review Source:Came here Sat June 13 at around 11pm. Â Its the ONLY club in this area. Â (thanks yelpers). Â If you go on a Sat, get there early! Â Like before 10pm. Â Otherwise you have to wait in a ridiculous line. Â Stood in line about 20 or so minutes. Â $15.00 cover. Â So whatevers its my bday weekend but here's what bugged me. Â
While in line, there was this chic who works for costas, some promotions chic, she would be like "anyone who doesn't want to wait in line $40.00" Â At first she would only say this to the bachelorette groups but then just to anyone, I was like omg! Â who does this chic think she is? But then again people were forking over the money and making the line shorter. Â
Random people go in there, but its fun people watching. Â Some guy grabbed my butt while I was trying to go to the bathroom, ugh sleezies. Â So yeah, only club in town and get there early. Â It was my bday, I was gonna have a good time no matter what!
This is the only club at the Marriott. Â Our group came here both Friday and Saturday nights...here's what we learned:
Friday:
~it's DEAD before 10 and still never gets crazy
~the cover is $10
~HORRIBLE DJ
Saturday
~it gets CRAZY packed
~it's best to spring for VIP bottle service...worth EVERY penny of that $300+ bottle
~if you reserve bottle service get the name of a host...we didn't so we shad to wait in line
So in the end, not the best club ever but it was nice to be able to stay on the resort and still be able too go too a club.
I was really looking forward to seeing some cougars at Costas given all the good reviews ive heard, but common this was a waste of time. For one, The JW Marriott is very over priced and charging a cover to get into a club in Palm Desert is a bit too much considering i was on a so called Guest List. The drinks were not cheap and the girls seemed to be locals or in groups with bachlorette parties etc. I thought the music was fine, but this place didn't do anything for me. 70/100
Review Source:Pros
1. The only nightclub we knew of in the area.
2. More clubbish vibe, less hotely.
3. If you're staying at the hotel/villas, no DD needed.
4. Good sized dance floor.
Cons
1. $10 cover for an average DJ & music. The DJ is in a removed booth so it's hard to even request better music.
2. Expensive drinks with no alcohol. The bartender will actually measure out 1 shot and that's all you get.
3. Sickly sweet drinks. My girlfriend got a double margarita expecting twice the alcohol but instead got a ton of extra super sweet mix. Â
If Costas was in a city with more bars & clubs, they would never get any business because their cover/drinks suck. We did end up having fun and if we were back in the area, I think we would go again (except pre-party a little harder).
This club is apparently the only (or one of the only) clubs out in the area and seems to be the place to go for bachelorette parties. Â We had 9 girls and went to Costas for our Saturday night out. Â Like Sha said, it was free for the bachelorette and maid of honor and then $10 for everyone else. Â We never pay for clubs so that was a little sucky, but whatevs, we're out in Palm Springs...
So we get in early so it's not poppin' quite yet, but there seemed to be lots of dudes there. Â They were pretty nice and friendly, but older as well. Â Some of the girls got some drinks and we make our way to the dance floor. Â We had our bride-to-be carry a bouquet of blow pops to try to sell to men in the club and I have to say, with an exception of a few jerks out there, they were pretty nice and responsive! Â Overall, we enjoyed ourselves, although it did get super packed and REALLY hot in the club. Â We eventually called it a night at around 1am and made our way out since a few of the girls got really drunk and needed to leave. Â I gave it 3 stars because I thought it was pretty decent considering the location. Â I also believe that if you're with the right people you can have fun anywhere! Â :)
Patron Shots anyone???
Ok so I was very reluctant to go into this place after yelling at the bouncer that I was going to write a nasty review on yelp since he wouldn't let us in for free....hello we are cute girls we dont pay!!!
Well at Costas we did, hence why they did not get 5 stars from me but I digress back to the shots!
Ahhh, the shots, did I mention they were double? That's how the evening really started. I happened to be there the weekend of Stage Coach so the place was crawling with attractive men!!! ; )
The music was awesome, I met so many great people! Everyone seem to have a fabulous time or at least that's how it seemed through my Tequila goggles!
I would totally go back! Had so much fun!
Planned a budget conscious bachelorette weekend and chose the JW Marriott for our "night out". Â It was convenient because it was close to our resort and we could go straight to the club after dinner.
Because they let bachelorettes & maid of honors in free (the rest paid $10) it was bachelorette central. Â We had them all pose for a pic together and I think there were 8 - and it was still early. Â
As for the club, mostly standing room only - all the chairs seemed to be outside on the smokers patio. Â The tables they did have were in the VIP section and about $300 Â - but only sat 6. Â
Dance floor was decent for an already small club, and the music was tolerable. Â
The atmosphere was also pretty minimal and the crowd was even less impressive. Â Although, there was a handful of nice people that wished the bride-to-be luck and participated in the dares. Â Staff and security were also really cool.
Overall the experience was pretty painless. Â Didn't have a long wait, the location was convenient and ladies had some fun.
So here's the thing about Palm Springs.... I've had many different types of trips here over the years...romantic getaways with the boyfriend, rowdy trips with the girls, spring break-like mixed company adventures, and obligational events. Somehow, like to the point that I don't think I even know of any other "clubs" in Palm Springs, trips to Costas (usually not on my suggestion) always become part of the plan.
This past weekend I was in the Springs for my college roommate's wedding (obligational yet enjoyable!) and, with a 3PM wedding time, unlimited beer and wine, well, we were all easily sauced by 7 PM. So, when the wedding wrapped up around 9PM and everyone asked "what next?" Costas was my only suggestion. Not because it's fantastic and fun and I couldn't wait to show my friends around, but because it's literally the only place I could think of (take note aspiring club owners - there could be a market here!)
Located on the lower/pool level of the JW Mariott hotel, this place lacks any sort of character whatsoever. You pay a $10 cover on weekends, stare at plain black walls, listen to all the trite Kiis FM hits, watch the scores of boys stand around and stare at drunken bachelorette parties, smoke a ciggy on the tiny fenced-in patio then usually head back out after maybe an hour, sometimes even less.
In a town full of retirees and business trippers , I'm not looking for the hottest or most innovative venue but this place doesn't even try...like at all. Because they don't have to...they fill up on the weekends for lack of competition so they don't need to try. Give me some ambiance for Christ's sake guys! Anyway, Costas is usually my reminder of why I don't care to spend too much time down in Palm Springs and why I'm never the one suggesting a trip there.
I've actually had some decent times at Costas but really this is the meat market at it's best... This is probably the one of the better clubs in the Coachella Valley, which is not saying much considering their only competition is Zeldaz and the Velvet Palms... Costas is only packed Friday and Saturday, majority of the time it's a 4:1 guy to woman ratio, mostly stuffy and humid, really loud and very dark...
Lots of bachelorette parties (mostly OC and Beverly Hills cougars) gettin crazy and other random tourists on "conferences" or "on business"... Anyways, I try not to come here more than once every other month because it's usually the same experience each time and not a place to meet your next wife... Most of the younger women are there for attention/drinks and are generally your typical gold diggers...
Most of the Hollywood, San Diego and OC crowd that come to the desert to "get away" usually leave this place appreciating where they came from because it's just not that cool... They really leave disappointed if they actually threw down for a VIP table because this place is just not worth it... Don't come here with too many expectations...
One tip I have is to roll up to the VIP entrance with some swagger and they'll probably let you in ;) because this is just one of those phony ass places where that crap works!
Was staying the weekend at the villas next door and heard this was good for some entertainment. Â We were advised to get here before 10pm on a Saturday night esp since the place was bought out closed for private funcion on Friday.
So determining from the lobby Friday night and Saturday night and the amount of bachelorette parties I knew this could be fun. Â My wife and I ( she's awesome for even allowing us in here) get in early and its not too crowded, just about 20 girls on the dance floor and another 20 at the bar and maybe like 5 guys in the whole place.
In like 15 minutes the placed is packed with wall to wall hotties and not so hot women(cougars from LA and San Diego) and bachelorette parties, and we think its taco lesbian night. Â
So after a few drinks and using the restroom no line for the guys and my wife finding a line of woman 20 deep waiting to piss, we decide to get out of here and are told no re-entry which is ok. Â There's a line outside with 50 cougars and a few men trying to get in.
Imagine if you will, a nightclub in Palm Springs. Â You're probably thinking what I thought, and you'd be partially right. Â When we first arrived a bit after 10, it was exactly what I had expected. Â Fairly empty, with middle aged couples gyrating their hips lustfully and a few May-Decembers where the girl danced around her old guy like he was a stripper pole. Â And then something happened. Â Some flood gate of "OMG I'm about to get married/OMG my friend is about to get married and we need to DANCE" opened and the place filled up. Â We went from spinning around the dance floor flailing wildly, to wiggling awkwardly, trying to elbow ourselves a tiny little bubble of dance space.
The dj left something to be desired, but what do you want for a hotel nightclub in Palm Springs? Â And a Marriott at that (sorry to judge you Marriott). Â We had a blast dancing, the bouncers were a little on the dickhead side, but once we saw how many popped colors filled the place up, we understood why. Â I'm sure there are plenty of young, muscular, I'm awesome! guys that get out of control here.
Some poor fool that stopped by to chat made the mistake of putting his hand on my back and being surprised (and horrified) that I was sweaty and he now had my sweat all up on his hand.
Sir - I don't know what you're here for, in this nightclub, with the bachelor party you're with; but me and my bachelorette friends, are here to dance. Â And it is packed to the gills, and we're in the damn desert and it's still like 80 degrees outside. Â Yes. Â I am sweaty.
Three stars for the great time I had, minus a star for some of the crowd and the fact that I would never come here if I weren't staying in the hotel, minus another star for the fact that we had just as much fun continuing the dance party in our pjs back in the room.
Holy crap. Â WE were the septuagenarians!!!!!!!!!!!!
