Great classic burger. Â No frills here but that's not the point. Â Burger has a squishy bun and everything is delicious down to the American cheese anchoring everything in place. Â I loved that all the components of my cheeseburger was balanced and it was like taking a bite of WSU culture. Â Did not partake in any libations but I can see why this place would be popular with the students and returning alumni.
Review Source:First and foremost, I want to say I LOVE the atmosphere in the Coug. There is no other place that I have ever been that shows the same amount of pride in the surrounding area and the community.
I gave the Coug 4/5 stars because until recently, it only served beer and Boones. As this is my 4th and final year at WSU, I did not spend as much time here until this year. People who were not avid beer drinkers tended to shy away from this establishment. However, now that their shelves are stocked with hard liquor, the Coug is a one-stop shop for all of the WSU population 21+.
Stop in for some fries or tots and please, please order their mozzarella sticks. They are TO DIE FOR. Wash it down with an ice cold Blue Moon and eat the orange wedge to get your daily dose of Vitamin C.
Happy Drinking!!
I love love love the Coug. It is an awesome place to either just get a burger or enjoy a few beers (or a pitcher) with friends.
Its a great place for lunch or an evening out. They recently started serving hard alcohol which was a big excitement.
I almost always get the cheese burger with a pint of Hefewiser or  Blue Moon. They also have delicious fries that have been the focus of some of my late evening cravings.
The atmosphere is really eclectic and is a very special place. I will truly miss the Coug when I graduate this spring.
The Coug is a very chill place to hang out. The atmosphere is just very laid back and refreshing. The walls are covered with cougar writings and signatures which give it that much more character.
I tend to frequent the Coug a lot on Tuesdays whilst taking advantage of their burger and fry for $2.50 deal. The people working are usually funny and sociable which makes the visit all the more pleasant.
They only have beer and cider on tap but I read an article in the Daily Evergreen about expanding their offerings but that hasn't happened to my knowledge yet.
It's just a great place to talk and have a drink. Ideal for starting or ending a night. Warm-up, cool-down style.
It's definitely one of my favorites. They also have trivia on Sunday that I hope to make sometime in the future!
It's the Coug. Nuff said. Great specials on food ($5 premium burger baskets) or 2.50 simple hamburger/fries on tuesday. only beer on tap but thats okay, plenty of beer to choose from. atmosphere is great. you can write on basically everything there with sharpies or paint pens. This is a college bar and must visit place while in pullman. ask for a deck of cards or jenga and play some drinking games.
Review Source:Classic burger and fries! I love the garden burger with their delicious steak fries! The bar is a classic college town bar featuring great food, great atmosphere, and friendly staff!
Food was ready quickly and served piping hot! The seating is definitely bar seating so you might be standing up or sitting in a tall bar stool, if you're concerned with comfort.
All in all, "the Coug" is a must whenever you visit WSU, or Pullman  in general!
The Cougar Cottage is known to every WSU booze hound as the Coug or home. It is an iconic pub near the heart of greek row and campus. In its past years people enjoyed making it their own by marking or craving their name on the wall, tables, and bathrooms. Today, it is an overpriced, under staffed shit hole. A pitcher of Busch Light was 12 dollars which is quite overpriced for Pullman!!! I ordered a cheeseburger and fries and it took the two guys flipping burgers 40 minutes to get it to me, cold, and with only 9 fries. I asked for just a few more and once they were done with their conversation they promptly told me to get lost. Customer service and the food sucks. All the bars in town have Wing Wednesday and The Coug has, by far, the most bland, unappealing wings. If you want a cold pitcher and good wings go to Valhalla, its a half a block up the street. If you have never been to Pullman, walk inside The Coug for the nostalgia, but do yourself a favor and turn right around and leave.
Review Source:The Coug is a landmark bar at WSU/Pullman. Â The name/location has been around for 70+years and the history on the different venues that have been titled Cougar Cottage is very interesting.
It has a small but very personal environment and if you are making the rounds on College Hill, this is a must on your list of stops.
If you only had one hour to figure out "what pullman is all about" than The Coug is where you should go. The place screams college culture, with sharpie marks on every surface it is like a scrapbook of its visitors experiences, including washinton state governor Christine Gregoire, whose signature can be found in there, for now at least. The beer prices are cheap, the food is amazing, and minors are allowed before nine.
dont take my word for it, go there, leave your mark,
The Coug, 'nuff said.
You can write on anything and everything with a sharpie. The place is close to campus, and I can't remember the number of times I had lunch here, and then went to class half drunk.
The beer is cheap, the food is good and cheap, and the best place to hangout.
Come on, this is like a campus legend!!
How can you not like a bar that allows you to write with a sharpie on any surface you can find? Leave your mark, or just spend an evening reading other people's legacys. Some are hilarious, some are just plain lame, "I *heart* Sarah Palin" That's all you got folks?!
I have to mainly give this place 5 stars because Bob, the owner, is pretty much the most awesome guy ever.
And how can you not like a bar that serves Boones Farm in the bottle? Delicious!
This was my numero uno hang out while in college. I spent many days and nights drinking and having fun. The juke box has some of the best music on earth and it only costs 25 cents. The food is great and the beer is as cheap as it comes. Summer is best for this, 3 dollar pitchers of Busch light . They also serve microbrews for more dinero but I only drank those on special occasions, after finishing a test or Dads weekend, when I wasn't buying. The graffiti is awesome, hope my name is still there somewhere, you can also play drinking games all day and night as well. It is small and gets crowded but that is most of the fun.
The Best College bar in the Best College Town in America.
GO COUGS!!!
This is certainly an interesting place.  The only time I've been here was for an Open to Close but was underage so I was marked with big black Xs  on my hands.  Hey, at least they let underagers in before a certain time! I'll let you know about the booze selection and prices if I ever go back!
There burgers and fries are quite delicious but definitely have large amounts of grease to go along with them. Â They also offer free soda to those who are the DD!
The only downside is this place is really small with limited seating area. Â Evertime I walk by the place is packed to very little wiggle room! Â Better be prepared to cozy up to your neighbor!
If there had been a bar in "Animal House", it would have been the Coug.
Beer only...and only cheap beer. Â Non-existent service, not enough tables or chairs, bathrooms that HAVE to be health hazards (and no sinks). Â It's home of possibly the best bathroom grafitti ever: on the beam above the trough "I flew Beggar's Canyon". Â (If you don't get it, you're probably too young to visit anyway. Â Or you need to see Star Wars more)
On Friday-Saturday night it was almost  impossible to get inside, and then just as hard to move around inside.  When it's not busy, they make surprisingly good sandwiches.
I always thought the place was a sausage fest. Â 75% guys....mostly frat guys, due to its proximity to Greek row...and a noticeable minority of girls. Â I never thought that was a good thing.
