Stopped in for breakfast. What a mistake. Â My scrambled eggs were good, but everything else was not. Â My husband's eggs, which he requested over easy, came dumped (almost rolled up) on his plate. Â His sausage was cooked to the consistency of burnt leather. Â The home fries had a very sour taste. Â Our cokes were flat, so we swapped them for milk, which was $3 a glass. Â We won't be back.
Review Source:My husband and I stopped in for lunch today - what a pleasant surprise! Â A very fresh and clean interior, with walls spotlighting local artistry. Â The menu was simple and prepared exceptionally well. Â The homemade lemon vinaigrette was a perfect complement to the cobb salad which was made with fresh lettuce, very crispy bacon, homemade turkey breast, etc. Â My husband had a BLT on crusty sourdough bread which was beautifully made and a barley soup that was clearly homemade - delicious.
The prices were insanely low. Â This is a welcome addition to Amenia and this corner of New York and we look forward to returning for Jazz night!
A welcome improvement over the Greenleaf Cafe, which was previously in this location. Â That version seemed to have meant well, but hired poorly in the kitchen. Â The food was indifferent on a good day, and terrible on others.
The newly-revived Cozy Corner has a new menu, which says that they make everything fresh. Â We had lunch, a grilled tuna sandwich and the burger. Â The grilled tuna was grilled fresh tuna, with a nice wasabi mayonnaise and some mild arugula on a moderate-sized ciabatta, quite tasty, and not overdone. Â The burger was good quality beef on a good bun. Â The best features were a mustard (on the side) that had a real kick like only freshly-made mustard can, and a delightful house-made pickle. Â The pickling was very slightly sweet in the background, and had a spice I couldn't identify for certain, but might have been fresh ginger. Â These were very nice touches, and if they're a sign of things to come, then Amenia has gained another quality place to eat with interesting food.
Wish them well - if the trend keeps up, this place will be a big hit.
