This cracker barrel was really good. I know you're like meh cracker barrel is a cracker barrel, which is mostly true, but in my my visits to cracker barrels across the country occasionally I've encountered a cracker barrel that is either extra good or in some cases not quite up to par (still better than a lot of the other highway-side options though). This was one of the good ones.
Our server was awesome (Toddzilla I think it was?) - he was super friendly and chatty (but not in an obnoxious way) and had us laughing a lot - which is a nice break when you've been driving for like a gazillion hours.
Food was classic home cooking and delish. My meal this time was fried chicken tenderloins with mac and cheese, dumplings, and hashbrown casserole with side of cream gravy for my chicken tenders (that's a pro-tip by the way - it's like a hand held chicken fried chicken!) I know it was super unhealthy, but I don't come here to eat healthy usually, but they do have some options if that's what you're looking for - grilled chicken tenderloins are a really good choice and their salads are pretty tasty.
Food tastes great as it does with every other Barrel, but I often find that I wait longer to receive my food at this one compared to others. Â I'm talking about a Thursday evening for dinner, too - not a Saturday morning.
My fav is the egg sandwich with hash browns, and I order the bread grilled (NOT TOASTED!). Â Half the time the sandwich comes toasted and not grilled, despite stressing this when ordering. Â
Management often comes around checking on you, but even when they know it's taking forever to get your food, they don't comp your drink or anything else. Â It probably should be a 3*, but the food is good so it stays a 4.
