Maybe we had bad luck. We were in Packwood for a family vacation the week before Labor Day. We came in on the first full day of the flee market festival for breakfast. There were 8 of us and we were in the back area.

Service was slow (understandable during a busy event) but more so than I would've expected. Wait staff wasn't even coming by all that often. There was 1 cook cooking on a small griddle.

If you want some breakfast while visiting this nice, small town, it's not a bad option. But plan plenty of extra time if there are extra people in town for any reason. The food was okay. Not bad but nothing special. Prices were a touch higher than the other place we visited but not unreasonable for being so far from any large cities.

I went in for lunch and just wanted a small personal pizza.  They won't do "specialty" pizzas on personal pizza.  BUT.........  you get one topping on a personal pizza and pay 90 cents per extra topping.  So, you can essentially get a specialty pizza on the personal pizza if you are willing to pay 90 cents for the extra toppings you want.  The personal pizza is $7.50, and I added four more toppings, so it came to around $10.  I was very surprised at the HUGE tomatoes on the small personal pizza.  There was an entire half slice of tomato on each of the eight slices of pizza.

Cruisers doesn't have a lot of incentive to excel. There are only like four restaurants in Packwood, and two of them share the same strip-mall building. And yet, Cruisers delivered some surprisingly good pizza on a Friday night that definitely exceeded our expectations.

The dining room is a big, barn-like, echoey space with some arcade games off to one side, a handful of tables and booths, and an open doorway to the bar next door. You grab a laminated menu, order at the counter, and they bring out your food.I

We started off with the house salad, which was quite large and full of veggies and toppings. We ordered two mediums for four people - one sausage and pepperoni, one veggie. The pizzas were large, the toppings were plentiful, and they used these nubbly pizza pans that raised the crust off the surface and made it extra-crisp and tasty. The only weird thing about the veggie pizza was that they added fresh tomato slices on top after cooking (see photo). Sun-dried would have been better, but whatever.

Prices are a couple of bucks higher than you might pay for the equivalent in a city with more choices, but considering the location, it's better than we expected!

After a long day of hiking I really needed a pizza. The place was busy on a Sunday night. The pizza was good and the service was friendly and reasonably fast. No complaints. I'd come back.

We shouldn't have gone there and we knew it. Across the street, Peters Inn was absolutely packed. Cruisers, however, was virtually empty. But my husband wanted pizza, and I had just dragged him on a 9+ mile hike in the rain, so he really deserved some pizza.

So, into Cruisers we went. And we quickly understood why it was empty. The pizza arrived after a very looooong time, and it was doughy and greasy and just not very good. The place was cavernous and echoey, and it just made us sad.

    Not recommended.

This pizza is fantastic! Crisp on the bottom, not too thin, not to thick. I ordered basic pepperoni with fresh tomato slices and only wish that I had been hungry enough to eat more. Service was pleasant, staff friendly, pizza arrived at the table quickly.  I'm trying to think of reasons to go over White Pass just so we can stop again!  Super deal too...2 medium pizzas for $20. Do it. Stop and have pizza. You won't be sorry.

A mixed bag. The pizza is good and huge. I'm still ticked off about asking the waitress how many a large pizza fed and she just shrugged. Even after a couple questions!  I ordered 3 large for 7 hungry skiers and we barely ate one. The rest went to waste. My big eater son and I later split a small pizza for lunch and had leftovers. The pizza is very good.

Half decent pizza - but as previously stated, they know there aren't many places in packwood, let alone many places open later than 7 or 8 p.m., service sucks, but when a restaurant's run by a bunch of teenagers, there's only so much you can expect.

The service SUCKS.  The kids who work in the restaurant could care less about you or your order.  They're nice enough, just clueless teenagers who probably can't wait to get out of Packwood and can't wait to get off "work".  The speed is SLOW.  Especially if they're busy.  And if you don't all order the same thing....don't plan on eating it together.  It's really about as bad as service gets.  Borderline awful.

However, I have a cabin in Packwood, and I always go to Cruisers when I'm in town.  Why?  The pizza is very good.  It's not great, but it's good enough to look forward too.  Just a little different than everywhere else.  I don't know what the heck it is, but I like it.  And I've been there so many times I've learned to be very, very patient.  I enjoy a beer or two with my wife and the kids keep themselves pacified with the video games.

If you're in no hurry at all and don't mind adding 15 minutes to that, I think you'll like Cruisers as much as I do.

The bar is fine for drinks, pool, watching a game, but far from anything memorable or special.  You'd find a better time over at Peters or watchin' trailer parkers and meth heads across the street at the Blue Spruce.  More entertaining.

Service was great. Breakfast was just ok. Had french toast with a side of bacon and a lot of fluids...OJ, water, and tea. Friend had eggs with a side of ham. Ham was a slab of pig on a plate with enough fat on it to choke the pig itself. Cruisers is part diner, part pizza joint, part bar, part arcade, and part Sunday sports zone. The word on the street is that their pizza is good, so I will give them another run on my next road trip to Packwood.

A regular stop on our way up to White Pass.  Their special pizza is a yummy combo featuring cashews!

We tried to stop the other night and it was PACKED out!  Since they're not super speedy anyway, we headed up to the summit.
