This is where I had my birthday dinner Friday night. The wait was not bad considering it was the weekend, and we were able to get bar service right away. They have a nice selection of drinks and beers to choose from.
I ordered the french onion soup, and it did not taste like normal french onion. I know that it was advertised as being made with apple cider, but it had a lot more spices than onions, and had an overall different taste.
I had Shepherds Pie for dinner and that was great. I would have appreciated a little more meat/veggies in the bottom as opposed to the mound of mashed potatoes with very little substance underneath.
My husband had the blackened strawberry salmon which was DELICIOUS. I was so jealous I didn't pick that to eat.
The service was quick and accomodating, and considering it was across the street from the brewery was a plus.
After a long day of driving in horrid weather and walking outdoors in the snow, the hunger pangs began to set in. A friend had recommend the Irish stew to me and I decided to stop in and try it. Â The service was great. I didn't feel awkward at all eating alone which was a huge plus! Â The Irish stew was meaty and very satisfying. Â The only thing I would change is the soda bread. I would have preferred a plain soda bread with my stew instead of the soda bread with raisins. I will be back to try the shepherds pie.
Review Source:I wanted to give it four or five stars, I really did, but it was honestly the food that is forcing me to give it a 2. I'd give it a 2.5 if that was possible.
The cheese and beer soup was great, I especially enjoyed that. But the salmon nicoise salad I ordered did not hit the mark. It was nearly inedible. The salmon tasted (and smelled) like extremely fishy canned tuna injected with pink food dye. There wasn't enough dressing to give it flavor, not enough goodies in the mix to help jazz it up. I really wanted to eat it, but even my partner agreed that the salmon was awful. He got the chicken avocado cobb and that looked way better. But yeah, I'd steer clear of the salmon if I were you. It sounded way better than how it was in reality.
I'd totally be down to give them another chance upon another visit, but in the meantime, I kinda left with a bad, fishy taste in my mouth. Sorry, Curragh.
