The place to go for fresh, homemade soup. Finding independent places to eat that are actually good and affordable are rare. You've got many different places to choose from while you're in Door County, but this is one place you won't regret eating at. The last time we were here we ended up taking about 4 quarts of soup home (he sells them frozen, too). We're headed back to visit and this place is at the top of our list.
Oh, and the owner is friendly- much more so than any of the other places we were at. This place should get together with MacReady Artisan Bread Company in Egg Harbor, to carry those delicious, freshly-baked, crusty loaves of bread that I can dip in my soup- but if they were to do that I don't think I'd eat anywhere else. :)
In Door County the other weekend, my wife wanted soup, and a quick Internet search brought up Czarnuszka Soup Bar, where I was surprised to learn that the owner was the former drummer of legendary Green Bay punk band Boris the Sprinkler, who my band used to play with. We didn't have clear memories of each other, but I guess that was par for the course in those days. Â Anyway, super nice guy and great soup. Four different soups each day and two different sandwiches. My wife and I agreed that if we'd discovered it any day other than our last day there, we would have eaten lunch there every day. Which is what you should do.
