Dairy Queen of Eastland

20 minute wait at the drive through, one car ahead of me.  Not recommended for travelers.

Wow! Never thought to review a DQ lol but wanted to make it be known that one of the girls working the evening shift gave me the best customer service imaginable.

I was craving an Oreo Brownie Sundae. Unfortunately, I called at 9:55pm and the girl said they close at 10pm. I wouldn't be able to get there until 10:15pm so I just assumed o well, I guess no ice cream tonight blah. She said, well I will be here with my coworker cleaning up and closing out so if you can come by 10:20 I can make you that sundae!

She waited for me and I pulled up and she knew why I was there and whipped up the order quickly with a smile and THANKED ME! I felt like I should be thanking her 10x and giving a huge tip. She made me feel like a very valued customer and it was an awesome experience! Kudos to the really nice girl who did this for me on 5/29/12 at about 10:15pm!

Okay, so this feels like it's in the middle of nowhere (and to some, that may be the case). Just imagine being in a big-ol Texas size pick up truck, nothing but road, mesquite trees and Pandora in the background playing some ol' ska tunes (country tunes would have been a bit much).  Damn the sun is hot. 106 degrees in the shade, the AC is on but it's still damn hot out there. Time for break in this 3 hour drive through this endless two-lane highway. We pulled up to DQ in Eastland, TX and despite cars here and there, it still feels a little desolate. I was almost expecting a tumbleweed to blow past me.
Stepped into DQ and the man with the big white cowboy hat takes a look back to see who just stepped in. The place is typical and clean. Yes, this is a chain fast food place. That means that the usual burgers, fries and take-out meals are offered. Even jalapeno fries? Yes, even jalapeno fries.
But I'm here for some ice cream- and the Oreo Blizzard is calling me. A thick mixture of soft serve ice cream with Orea cookies. They even hold it upside down when they give it to you so you see just how thick and bad for you this is, and oh so good. I was happy. It's been a while since I was 'round these parts and a DQ Blizzard hit the spot for this heat. So if you ever find yourself 'round these parts, make sure you stop by the DQ in Eastland, right off the highway (not the one by the gas station). It's the perfect relief from that Texas sun.
