This appears to be a duplicate listing. In any event, upon reopening for the season in April 2010, La Paz Surf Cantina officially changed their name to DB's Surf Bar & Cantina, kept the same favorites and added a ton of new ones, more of a well-rounded menu and a great rolling beer selection, some remodeling, etc

Ai ai ai ai ... Eating here made me sad :(
The food just had no flavor, and it seemed like most of the ingredients came from a can or "boil-bag" ...

They say they slow cook the carne asada and then marinate it ... yea ... only if it's boiled for hours in plain old water and then marinated in some more water ... blah!  There was just nothing going on with the "surf bowl" ...

And the lauded fish tacos are on the bottom of my list ... the abysmal let down made me want to go Harry Caray.  The portion of fish was like three sorry calamari sized squiggles drowned in fry batter.

The rice was watery and the black beans were straight from a can with no added anything ... I just can't remember a place getting it so wrong.

I hope this is the last review, I wouldn't want any fellow Yelpers subjected to such crap food.

And the 5 star reviews ... come on guys ... this place has got a face only a mother could love.

Well, East coast girls are hip, I really dig those styles they wear...
And the Southern girls with the way they talk, they knock me out when I'm down there...
The Mid-West farmer's daughters really make you feel alright, and the Northern girls with the way they kiss, they keep their boyfriends warm at night, BUT I wish they all could be California girls.

La Paz (La Paz = Spanish for The Peace) Surf Cantina embodies the essential characteristics of that famous Beach Boys song. When you walk in you're almost instantly transported to Surf City, California. And, that's all right with me. All rigghht.

We had the opportunity to enjoy good food and good conversation with La Paz's owner John. I recommend trying: The Baja Chicken Fingers, they're marinated for 12 hours before cooking, the patient preparation certainly shows. That's something not only a grommet (read: n00b) can appreciate. The Fish Tacos are a very, very popular specialty, they come highly recommended with fresh fixings.

La Paz has an outside patio area for sitting out back (read: chilling / waiting for a wave), but, you wont need your stick (read: board) just think luau, lots of interior space and a clean crisp, fresh from the beach feel.

Great food, great service, chill atmosphere. Rad set.
