So I would say the place is a bit too expensive for the service that was given. Â Does a cheeseburger really cost $13? Â Well it does at this place. Â Albeit the burger was great, the service was lacking. When I asked for a cherry coke, it was not brought to my attention that they actually pour grenadine in regular coke to make it a cherry coke. Â For a diabetic that's even more sugar. Â It took almost 30 minutes to get the hamburger out to myself. Â 30 minutes for a hamburger? Â Wow. Â I'm still giving this place four stars because the food was that delicious. Â Needs help in those other two areas though.
Review Source:Came here on Thursday night for my Gumba's birthday dinner. Â Thursday night is buffet night with prime ribs. Â The prime rib was cooked to perfection. Â I had three plates full. Â They even had all the right fixing. Â
Right in front of our table was a full bar. Â Music was playing in the background. Â It was really the perfect setting. Â We were able to enjoy some cocktails and prime rib. Â Perfect for his birthday!
My family ate at the Delta Bistro last Tuesday night and we were very impressed. Â The atmosphere was great, it wasn't crowded and noisy, but our waitress told us that it can get quite busy when there is an event next door at the arena. Â I ordered hot herbal tea, most places either do not have any herbal tea when I ask for it, or they only have one kind of hot tea (usually plain black caffeinated tea). Our waitress (Marie) brought me a nice big empty tea cup filled with 6 different teas to choose from, along with an extra large personal sized teapot full of hot water. Â There was even some honey! Â A tea drinker's dream! Â My husband ordered the Delta Sliders with sweet potato fries and said he would highly recommend them. Â I had the sweet chili salmon, it was delicious. Â It was supposed to come with wild rice, but they were out, so it came with plain white, rice instead, but that was the only disappointment of the evening. Â My 13 year old ordered the Delta burger and said it was very good. Â My father-in-law had the calamari, also good. Â My 13 year old tried the bread pudding for dessert. Â It was beautifully presented in a long stemmed glass and he thought it was delicious. Â Our server, Marie, was so nice and really impressed us with her "table side manner" and all around niceness! Â She is a real gem! Â After dinner, we went outside and were really amazed at the resort-like atmosphere of the pool/patio area. Â There are lounge chairs and fire pits all around that you can sit at, with views of the water and the hotel and everything looks amazing. Â This is Stockton at it's best! Â We will definitely be going back. You have to check it out!
Review Source:My husband and I went to this restaurant for Sunday Brunch.
What a treat! The food and service is great. The Chief Jeff walks around the dinning room to make sure everyone is happy. This is a perfect place to take a date or for a special family event. The views of the waterfront are outstanding. I totally recomend this restaurant! I feel this is one of the best restaurants in Stockton. Try it, you will not be sorry.

Our club got together here for the Sunday brunch...with bottomless mimosas! We thought it was great. They had breakfast food as well as fried chicken, salmon and our members raved about the prime-rib. The service was excellent, the buffet was very nice and the restaurant was very clean, modern and comfortable. I would definitely go back again. Our server, Brian Jungblut was very attentive and provided great service. I Â will be back!

A group of us decided to do lunch the other day at Delta Bistro. Ordered the Delta sliders w/fries, priced at $9.00. Â It was good; however the service wasn't the greatest. Â It took over 30 minutes to get our lunch! Â The place wasn't even crowded. There were only a few other people in the restaurant. Â There were only 2 waitresses on duty which would have been sufficient for a small number of people. The one that waited on us was very friendly and polite and helpful.
Spoke to a friend of mind about our lunch here and she told me that she just happen to meet someone who used to work at Delta Bistro. Â She told my friend that the new owner will only hire the bare minimum of staffing to save money. Â The resturant had also gone through several chefs within a short period of time. Â At the time we were there, there was only one chef in the kitchen which explains why it took so long to get our meal. Â If we had know this we would have never have come here. Â Delta Bistro could be a really great dining experience. Â But I don't see it lasting if the new owner isn't interested in investing in good customer service, i.e. getting the meals to its customers withing a reasonable length of time during the lunch hour. Â If the owner thinks that working people can just hang around, he is sorely mistaken. Â If your in business you need to spend some money in order to make some money. The owner will save money allright but will also lose it at the same time if he isn't willing to invest in his own restaurant and customer service. Â I do see this place eventually going under.
We wanted dinner before a show at the Fox Theater downtown. Â 4 of us showed up without a reservation and were seated immediatley. Â Nicely appointed open floor plan. Â Menu offered interesting choices, wine list was okay. Â We ordered a bottle of wine and our entrees, which came with a choice of rice or mash potatoes, and a side salad. Â The service was generally good, but it was the details that were lacking. Â The wine arrived already uncorked rather than being approved and opened at the table. Â The server proceeded to fill one glass without offering a taste test. Â She poured glasses for the three of us drinking and left. Â The food arrived in a timely fashion, expect one person's entree was a few minutes behind everyone elses. Â The floor manager apologized. Â We had to remind the server that we needed our salads. Â One of our group requested ground pepper. Â The first pepper mill our server retieved was empty. Â She went for another and after serving the requester, she failed to ask if anyone else wanted pepper. Â The side dishes were luke warm and the salad was bland. Â We asked the floor manager if there was a shuttle from the hotel to the theater. Â He asked if we were staying at the hotel, and when we said no we were just eating, he said no there would be no shuttle. Â Later, at the show, I spotted at least 5 othe people who were in the dinning room when we were. Â That's 9 people who, whad we been shuttled to the show and back, may have had a nightcap in their bar. Â Over all, I'd rate the food & service okay, but thought the hotel might have done a better job of promoting itself.
Review Source:A lot wrong with this first visit, but I am giving it 5 stars because ultimately, the food and ambience were excellent and enough to bring me back. For starters, parking is tricky. I think it was okay to park in the adjacent parking lot, even though the sign said it was only for hotel guests. We did, and did not get ticketed. Once inside the hotel lobby, it's kind of guesswork finding your way to the restaurant, as it is way in the back down hallways and through the bar. It was even harder finding a hotel staffer to ask for directions. They need some signs for first time patrons to see when entering the lobby. When we finally found an employee in the bar and asked for directions, we got a wordless response for us to follow him and he sat us at a table. Once seated, we waited 5 minutes or so for a server to come to our table before hunger and the delicious aroma of the food made me give up and start loading a plate. It then seemed as though we were invisible because the server (who was pretty scarce) never once stopped to acknowledge us, ask us if we wanted mimosas, water, coffee etc., or even explained how the buffet worked. I was on my second plate before she finally noticed us (on the way to delivering a second round of mimosas to the table next to us) and asked us if we wanted mimosas too. I will say, that after that, she was very attentive and all went well. One note to the restaurant manager: I overheard the server telling the table next to us they didn't have to get a clean plate for seconds. Yuck! Also, the busser cleaning the tables reused the placemats that the previous diners used. Yuck again! (Think about how often the diner before you set their used fork on the placemat while they went for another plate) As for the food, the prime rib roast was AMAZING! Probably the best roast I've ever been served in a restaurant. They also had the other standard breakfast foods. And who doesn't like an endless supply of bacon? The fruit bowl had delicious fresh melons, strawberries and pineapple. The pizza I sort of understood, but the potstickers, although delicious, seemed kind of odd on breakfast buffet. Â I didn't try the salmon and bagels, because the salmon looked cooked and dry, not smoked like typically served with bagels. But there was no dessert. :-( To sum up: you should go. It's a hidden gem (quite literally, hidden). The hotel is beautiful (even if the staff could use Anthony Melchiorri's services), the view is great and the food is delicious. And you'd be supporting our community.
Review Source:Short update...
Again, yummy prime rib tonight.  <a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/zUaLkOIIFnnKj36KRIMBpQ?select=s5dgfAHybctnDvjEkWgrog">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>
Now they provide live music for the buffets....Thurs evenings and Sundays!
Nice touch.  <a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/zUaLkOIIFnnKj36KRIMBpQ?select=M8l9Jx8Ogdn_xpcBu3I4Fw">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>
Also, they added a homemade bread to the choices. Â I think they said it
was some kind of rosemary bread? Â I could be wrong...but it was tasty.
Tonight they had scalloped potatoes in a creamy sauce instead of the
mashed potatoes and gravy. Â I am not a fan of scalloped potatoes....
but I loved the mashed potatoes they had last time. Â I could almost make
a meal of that!
Surprise of the night.... they had homemade ice cream. Â It was an extra
add-on to the buffet. Â It will not be a regular buffet item. Â But you really
never know what surprises the Executive Chef Jeff might add from time to time.
Assuring the smooth running of the buffet line was Assistant Chef Efrain. Â
I had the same awesome server as last time...Charles! Â Thanks, Charles.

We were always fond of Sunday Brunch Buffets.  Man, do we miss Mallards !! (Stockton folks know of what i speak)  So we decided to investigate where they  may still offer a BUFFET for Sunday brunch. Not many I tell you.  So my mother in law  mentions that they had read in stockton record about a place down on the water so i looked it up at The Record and sure enough, a recent story about The Delta Bistro ! Small world, I work right next door at the Arena part time so that was very convenient and cool.   The price seemed right at $14.99 since we have paid everywhere from $9 (golden corral) to $75 at the Hyatt on Kauai for a sunday brunch buffet so we decided to give it a whirl.   Very nice place, good views of the water and outside hotel area.  Now, this is not a huge buffet.  They cover the breakfast basics, eggs, potatoes, bacon (perfectly crisp thank you) and sausages that were wonderful, not those precooked sizzler things, ew.  Fruit, pastries, green salad (not salad bar) and additional entree offering which the day we went was rice, veggies and chicken done asian style.  Then there was a craving station although it was not prime rib, it was NY  roast sliced to order and it was the BEST part of the meal.  Seasoned perfectly and cooked perfecty.  There were also small bagels (mini- why?) with cream cheese and other traditional accompanyments (sp?) like onions but the salmon...was cooked.  Kind of strange.  I don't eat the usually sliced raw(smoked??) salmon that most places serve by the bagels but I know I've never seen it cooked.  But, they had it !  OH YAaaa !! THE main reason this is also worth your while...unlimited Mimosa &/or champagne !!  Between the NY steak and Mimosa, we got out $14.99 worth for sure.  Did miss there being a dessert area which normally we would find at a brunch buffet but like I said, it is on the smaller side but what they do have is high quality and i definately recommend you give it a try for yourself !  Service was also very good.
Review Source:Stayed at the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel for their big 2012 New Year's eve bash. This restaurant is located in their lobby area and served an awesome New Years day brunch for those guests that got the room package.
They served steak, eggs, fresh fruit, bacon, sausage, smoked salmon, cereal, fresh orange juice, coffee, buiscuts & gravy, croissants, pastries and pancakes.
Each item was well prepared and very good.
The service was excellent.
I have been here a few times for dinner as well. Since the hotel switched ownership the quality of the service and food has improved ten-fold. Although a little on the pricey side, you get what you pay for and this place is pure quality.
I would highly recommend this restaurant for a nice meal using high quality, fresh ingredients while overlooking the waterfront.
[Note: this is in the Lexington Plaza Waterfront Hotel, formerly known as the Sheraton and Hippo Bar.] I have a cautionary tale to tell -- take heed. Our group of 10 had dinner reservations here thinking it would be a perfect spot right across the street from the arena where we were going to the Carrie Underwood concert. The whole experience was akin to Survivor, everyone was thirsty and hungry, calculating the best way to get what you and your team needed.
Our team's first stop was the bar. Being chosen to have your drink order taken must have been based on some kind of secret algorithm. Neither guiles of the pretty women or the bravado of the men could bring about any level of mixology competence. Yes, there's a big neon Blue Moon sign, but no, they didn't have any -- or any of this or that... OK, just give us what you have and we'll move on to our table. That was our first 30 minutes on the island.
Seated at our table we had a great view of a cinder block utility shed and a chained black iron fence, lest we forget we are in Stockton. There were about 6 other teams seated at their tables. During the 20-30 minutes it took for our order to finally be taken we noticed 2 or 3 of the other teams drop out of the competition.
Nearly another 30 minutes passed, we were starving, there wasn't even a piece of bread in sight. Our guide, one of two young waitresses, eventually told us there was only one chef, our dinner order was going to be awhile and they were too backed up to even get bread out. Yes, they knew about the concert, and they were stocked up and ready for last week's Snoop Dogg concert. But during our time on the island we had to fight for drinks and couldn't even get a cracker.
Our guide felt bad and said she would make sure we were fed somehow. She began bringing out whatever was ready in the kitchen, probably orders from the teams that dropped out an hour earlier. A burger came out and we cut it up into ten little pieces. No plates? No problem, we had our paper menus and coasters.
After a few more shared mediocre smorgasbord surprises we were ready for our bill, already late for the concert. We were the last team in the place and this is when we learned we were the winners. The prize? Our food foraging was on the house. Our guide was tipped handsomely and we made our escape, never to return again.
Just tried this restaurant as part of restaurant week in Stockton. Â Had the "caprese panini" that was not pressed - did not have basil and only had a VERY small piece of mozzarella cheese in the very center of the bread. Â Also at our table was the ugliest, driest "modern saltemboca." Â Would definitely stay away from here.
