  Like the riverfront of town of Curlew, WA. where it's located, The Den is a unique find in a remote location.  Want to sit up at the counter and visit with the locals? There's stools and high tables. Care to recline in a comfortable chair and read the weekly newspaper? That works too. The menu is limited but thoughtful with locally crafted foods. Coffee is roasted just a couple of miles up Highway 21 and served in a number of options. If you are on the road and need to check e-mails or surf the web The Den offers free WIFI.
  
  Curlew itself is in a beautiful setting with two bridges crossing the Kettle River, which river flows through a mountainous valley with over 30 named peaks and summits within 20 miles of the small townsite.

  The Den has CLOSED...doh! The area grapevine says it may reopen under new management.
  
  The Den is an unexpectedly fun little Internet Cafe, coffee shop, and panini restaurant in the heart of Curlew, Washington, which is one of the smallest towns you're ever likely to visit. The owners have created a warm, attractive, laid-back cafe that encourages lingering at one of their intimate tables for two or kicking back in one of their comfy over-stuffed chairs. They specialize in espresso- and latte-based drinks (hot and cold), pastries, soup, and panini (breakfast and lunch versions). The staff is friendly and welcoming.  I particularly like the BLT wrap (Mmm paired with an iced espresso.
