A combination of Mad Max, Water World, and Easy Rider. The Bar in Desert--as I like to call it--is a very special place. After a 15 minute dusty off-road ride, you arrive thirsty and ready to party with some awesome live music.

I like that the place is totally off the grid. The giant towers are actually swamp cooler systems. And the eletricity comes from solar panels and is stored in a huge collection of powerful lithium batteris (near the restrooms). Check it out.

This is more of an outing than a meal.  5 miles off-road to get there rocks!  And the place is truly cool to check out.  Loved the place, really fun.  I didn't think the food selection was all that impressive - upstairs it was hamburgers (no cheese) and hot dogs.  Downstairs had better food eats from what I understand.  And the beer selection was a little boring for me.  But, hey, an off-road adventure for a few drinks -  it's totally worth it.  I'd go again.

We were a bit unimpressed.  It's not really our scene and I think all the 5 star ratings threw me off.  It's definitely a worthy trip just to check it out, but we won't be back.  The food upstairs is bland and the wait to get the food is ridiculous, but the food downstairs was pretty good and service was fairly fast.  If you don't get there early enough there is hardly any seating in the shade which is a must for this time of year.

Great Service and Amazing Experience. =) Everyone must try this once. The only downfall... you absolutely need a sober driver, cause taxi's can not go out there and it's super dangerous if you are not careful. Honestly though, Sunset at the Desert Bar is truly a sight to not be missed. I think they just need to come up with an off road Taxi. haha. Love this place...don't miss it. The bathrooms are super cool too. It is a longer line to get the drinks and the food is all bad for you...but hell...just enjoy and relax....the bands, views, and people are awesome.

I love this place! We like to go the back way with a group of friends who have Polaris, Joyner's and Jeeps. It is about 8 miles and over 3 mountains. There is a full bar, music and the chilie is good too! So much to see and do once you get there that you will take all your out of town guests too!

An absolute gem! Not often do you find bar where you have to off-road for 5 miles to the middle of nowhere to get to. It was exhilirating adventure just getting there!

The Desert Bar is located on an old mining camp deep in the Buckskin Mountains. The self-sustaining buildings are made of scrap metal: random odds and ends they could find. I felt I was at the grown up verison of Disneyland's frontierland with so many different props. Everything was so surreal! I wanted to walk around and explore for hours. For instance, there are two very large rock formations behind the bar that you can explore. There's a "church" in the parking lot which was kind of neat.  And also, the ladies restrooom was really cool with a open view of the desert. Very cool!

I came here on new year's day with a party of 9. You pretty much sit anywhere you find a seat. Hotdogs, burgers, and pizzas. $2.75 for can beers. There was a cover band that played mostly classic rock.

The bar is closed during the summer because of the heat. Be sure to check out their website before you plan to visit. Bring cash, bring a four wheel drive, and bring boots. Don't wear heels or stilettos ladies, or you will learn the hard way.

    Enjoy!!

The first time I went to the DB was about 14 years ago and I have been a couple times a year since.  Only a dirt road to get there, I have always had a great time and will never be able to fully describe the fun.

Over the years, Kenny has managed to do some very interesting things out there.  The best addition has been the amphitheater and stage area.  This past weekend; cover band Happy Endings rocked a crowd of what appeared to be somewhere around 250-275 people.

Some people may complain about the slow bar service, but that is only because they have not figured out their system.  Once you do, no worries, but more importantly; this is a family place to hang.

One of the best attractions to the DB is the food...now!!!  In the past; burgers and dogs...no cheese.  Kenny brought in Nick Litras to provide a larger menu and the ability to feed a diverse group of patrons in an outback location.  You're not going to get a fancy plate or anything with a bunch of trimmings, but you will get a sandwich you will not forget about anytime soon.  Prices are appropriate for the remote location and it is far better than the burgers.

Everything about this place is unique and you just need to see it for yourself.  Next time you're in Parker AZ on Hwy 95, turn east on Cienega Springs Rd, travel less than 5 miles and your there.

Whens the last time you had to 4by it down a 5-mile dirt road in the middle of BFE to get to a bar that was powered by solar energy and only open Saturdays and Sundays from high noon until sunset for 3 months out of the year?!?

    Gotta love the Desert Bar.
The mix of people here gives a little something for everyone.

Bring cash! No credit at this place.
There is always live music and tons of people.
Definitely worth checking out... it's something you have to experience to understand!

Soooooooo much fun!!! Was a little scary taking the long, dirt, bumpy road, or lack of a road, but once we reached te destination, it was well worth it. The drinks were good & strong, the atmosphere unreal. There was live music & people everywhere. The food looks like it'd taste like something you'd get at a little league field, but it is soooo gooood! Chili cheese burger please!

We found this place because of an ad in a local newspaper and we were sure glad we did! We were probably the youngest ones there, being in our 30s and yet it didn't matter. We were definitely the tourists, because you can tell the snowbirds are the regulars. Didn't matter though, they were all really nice and friendly.

The entire location is like a small old western town. Thankfully a school teacher sitting next to us was kind enough to read us a brief history on the place. In fact, it was an old mining camp and was converted to a bar/restaurant back in '75. As mentioned by other yelpers, they only take cash, but they serve beer by the can and delicious bbq, so it's worth it!

They have a live band, horseshoe, and some great trails in the surrounding areas,  with magnificent views.

Oh and it is 5 miles into the desert and all OFF ROAD. You might want to think twice if you plan to drive your car because trucks and any off road vehicles rule the road. Also if you're unsure you took the right road, just keep going. You'll know when you see it :)

It's open until June and closes during the summer months. Opens at highnoon so try to get there early, although there's plenty of seating, it gets really crowded. We're planniing to go back whenever we're at the river. . . they say it's growing all the time! can't wait!

Make sure you have cash!  Cool place but you'll also be driving on a five mile unpaved and not maintained road to get there. There is no power so everything is solar here. You might get cell phone service if you are wearing a hat made of aluminum foil and standing on one leg holding your tongue with your right hand.

This is a must see as things are always changing. It is only open till dusk and during the winter months but well worth the trip!

This very well could be one of my favorite places on earth. I really don't want anyone else to know about it cause it can get kind of crowded as it is, but I just can't help myself! So this is how it goes... you turn on to a dirt road off highway 95 and drive for about 20-30 minutes into the middle of nowhere, then all of the sudden you see  a big steeple, that's where the bar is... now this is my kind of church!  The bar is all solar powered and it's out in the open air which makes it good for soaking up some of the beautiful Arizona sun. It's only open from end of May until September and only on Saturday's and Sunday's from noon until sunset. If you walk up the hill you can see incredible views of the mountains and see blue skies while you use the toilet! They make a great drink here too, my favorite being the bloody mary. I highly recommend taking this trip at least once, it's really something to see!

If your in the area during what most would consider the OFF season, definitely a fun place to kick-back for awhile. They got the basic Hamburger, Hot Dog kinda food if you really need a little something. I'm amazed at how well done everything is. The owner-builder is obviously at bit eccentric but he knows how to get stuff done and is constantly tweaking it.

You can't get much more of a relaxed friendly atmosphere.

I'll cut and paste the most important info. Check the website for all the details and history.

The "Nellie E Saloon" is located 5 miles
off the Cienega Springs Rd exit on
Hwy-95, approximately 5 miles north of
    Parker, Arizona.
We are open Labor Day weekend
    through Memorial Day weekend,
Saturdays and Sundays only from high
noon till sunset, and holidays during
these months. THE BAR IS CLOSED
    DURING THE HOT SUMMER MONTHS

What an absolute treat to put this on Yelp!  I know I shouldn't do it because I betcha a lot of River Locals don't even know this bar exist!  I have been coming to the river for the last 18 years and only learned about it a few years ago!

This place is through the sand outside of Parker Arizona.  You drive through the sand and you come across this place where you will be lucky if you get a parking spot but remember these people are drinking folks, (yelpers you'll fit right in), so be careful coming and going.

There is always a band that is playing the old time favorites and people out in the sun drinking their drinks, eating something off of the grill and listening to some good ole music!

If you want a thorough idea of the place, words cannot do it justice take a look at their website, read the history of the bar and take a look at their pictures!!!

What a fun place!  Heading to the river tonight and just checked it is open this weekend, I am sure we will stop by!
