We came here for a late dinner and drinks. I ordered the Reuben and my Boytoy ordered the chowder. The service was great. The beer selection was pretty good (but a lot of the selections were crossed off). Â Our party ordered various items of pickled or fermented items but they were pretty tasteless. The kraut tasted like nothing ( I couldn't even taste it on the Reuben!). The pickled onion just tasted like vinegar. Most of the items that we ate just didn't have the flavor that you would expect from a pub. The ambiance was cozy and fun and the servers were enthusiastic and super helpful but overall the food was bland.
Review Source:Really terrible food and service. The owner came in stumbling drunk and imediatley got into a loud argument with the staff. Â Didn't realize it wasn't an actual restaurant and they only have a deli licsense, hence no real grill or deap fried fish and chips(at a british pub!!!)The only reason to come here is the beers and the Irish theme(again a British pub). 1 star for the actual restaurant. 0 for food. 0 on service go to Somsiri next door if there open, or Chehalis deli.
Review Source:Met my boyfriend here for quick dinner and drinks as a half-way point b/t Seattle & Portland. The hummus plate was good and large. He got some sort of meatball dish (can't remember exactly) and didn't like the gravy they were in. The drinks were good. My favorite was the unique ambiance of the bar and the trivia cards. This will definitely be my go-to stop in chehalis if I ever need to stop again.
Review Source:An unexpected find for Chehalis! All I really know of otherwise is the rundown Staples, a pervasive smell of mint, and tweakers. However Devilfish is an awesomely proper pub! Good food, good atmosphere, and a great beer selection. The place always seems lively with a good clientele, great deals on their drinks, and I've never had my glass sit empty without a server coming by. The owners are friendly. The fireplace is a great addition, especially on a cool, rainy night. Shame the next block over is so rough, but Devilfish is working hard to maintain a good reputation and I definitely hope to visit regularly and help them in that regard.
Review Source:Thank you Yelp. Â Found this place on Yelp while on a road trip from Ferndale to Portland. Â We were hungry, tired, cranky and desperately needed food. Â This is where we landed and what a great stop. Â
It was early and not to many people there. Â We were warmly greeted and told all about the beers. The bangers and mash were good, the Guinness was great. Â It was the atmosphere and the service that make this place a great stop.
With food in our bellies, all was well in the world again. Â Thanks
You know what, i am blown away by this little Irish Pub. Way to stand out in a town that lacks creativity and places like this one. The staff is awesome, they bust their asses and it shows and pays off for them. Dave is one badass dude, Stacy is great, their brews are amazing as well as their Reuben sandwiches and Hummus Plates :) My favorite place in Lewis County without a doubt and one of my favorites in Washington, period. Keep up the good work guys
Review Source:This friendly place feels like you are in Portland or Seattle, not small town Chehalis. Never a bad time to be had at this pub. Good beer, wine, spirits, food, live music, (most nights). The owners are great people and animal lovers. They have made Sunday Dog Day to support the local animal shelters. So bring your "service" dog and let them in on the gathering of fellow animal lovers. Please support our local businesses.
Review Source:This was a nice and fun little find in Chehalis. Â We were in town as a stopover on the Seattle to Portland (STP) bike ride. Â Our first choice was only opened for dinner so we happened upon Devilfish.
The owner Mike greeted us as we came and quickly gave us the rundown on the 20 beers on tap and the specials of the day.
Hummus plate was good with home pickled veg. if just a little too garlicky and thick. Â I'm picky as I make my own hummus a lot.
Rueben - Spot on with shredded house cooked corned beef. Â Right amount of cheese, sauce and kraut
Crab Dip - hot, bubbly, seasoned well and gone in 60 seconds.
The beers were cold and plentiful with mostly local NW brews from Washington and Oregon. Â Mike told me he sources most of the beer himself and makes trips weekly to Seattle to pick up local beer.
Like the maritime theme and he has a pool table (was broken at the time), dart board and a firepit with couches for those colder days.
Love this place and its a great place for lunch or dinner after a 100 mile bike ride for sure.
Just got back from dinner, great Reuben, great chowder, great staff and I love the public house. Â Thought to myself, you guys have me, Â I will be here a few times a week and be bringing in everyone I know to try as many of the great beers that you get as possible. Â The food is up in price for the area but worth it. Â Pulled corned beef Reuben, AMAZING! Â The only issue I had was the pickle on my plate and what comes below, probably the worst pickle I have ever had. Â Like pickle jello in a pickle skin. Â At the same time I was wondering why the place was so empty and I believe I know why. Â I got the bill. Â Five bucks a pint? Â I did not notice any prices shown on the menu. Â I got two beers and more than likely would have only ordered one or just left had I know they were $5.00 a pint. Â I am used to paying $5.00 a pint at a resort or downtown Seattle or Portland but not in a small town. Â I love craft brew and drink alot of it out in pubs and tap houses. Â I end up down town Olympia and I'm paying well under $4.00 for the same beer you have. Â The last time I spent $5.00 a pint was downtown Portland and I only got one beer instead of two or three. Â To add to this, no happy hour. Â When I asked about the happy hour and was told there wasn't one, I assumed the prices were good on the beer. Â You have made a wonderful place that Thurston county doesn't even have however I am afraid you are going to have a hard time lasting with downtown Seattle and Portland prices. Â I hope the best for you but you wont see us any where near as much as I assumed you would.
Review Source:This the Best Place to enjoy craft beer in Lewis County. Â They have the best rueban sandwich I have ever had. Â The place is very clean and the owners really enjoy what they are trying to create. Â They have just lighted their fir pit for winter. Â It is still a work in progress, however it just keeps getting better.
