It is consistently good. Not mind blowing amazing, but an old standby where you know you will have a good meal and good service.  In my opinion they have the best Caesar in Metro Detroit - excellent fresh dressing.  I like their Saturday/Sunday brunch, was a great addition to their menu.  I do miss the old location and agree with others that the set up in their new spot is a bit odd.  (Was worried for a while that they would not reopen, so glad they did!)

Proper cocktail mixing can vary based upon the bartender - they have always been gracious and accommodating when I send things back.  (Seems to be a problem a lot of places lately, no one can seem to make a proper Old Fashioned...)

Mary Brady is amazing in terms of devising some of the most appetizing menu items anywhere---and executing them with perfection (as only a Master Chef can) . We dined here for mothers day and we experienced a near perfect meal. There were six of us and we started out with four of the six starters offered on the menu. All were exceptional. The bar cheese was the most popular among us, but at the end of this phase of the meal there were no leftovers. One of the starters was a bowl of bacon peanuts and they are exactly what they say they are and they are only two bucks.
Our main items included a shrimp BLT wrap (san tomatoes for me),a beef on weck, adult grilled cheese, onion soup, lintel salad with salmon and chowder Everybody agreed their order was THE BEST. We ended with a crème brulee  and sweet jam for dessert along with some great coffee.
Service by Michele was also " woohoo as good as it gets"
    Can't wait to go back..

Visited DJB's for lunch/early dinner (about 4pm)after attending an event at the Expo Center. We were seated right away at an outside table and asked to see the specials  menu. Our server said that was about 15 minutes from being ready, so we had to wait a little bit longer than we would have liked to order. We all got iced tea to drink, but it was REALLY strong. I don't care for sweet tea, but I had to add some sugar to my drink to cut the bitterness. We ordered the New Orleans Muffaletta which was really good, a little drippy from the olive salad that was on the inside of both slices of ciabatta.  A little slow getting to us (and we were 1 of 5 tables in use in the restaurant) but the quality of the food was worth it. Our drinks we never empty more than a couple minutes, and the waitstaff was very nice and polite. We will most definetly be back to try some of their dinner items, and possibly sample a desert.

I'll go back. Food was average (I could do equal or better at home) but service, bar, and atmosphere were great. It is notable how good service and a strong drink can make your day...

The food was good, new combinations on old favorites. Service was horrible! We went on a Saturday night at 630p. The restaurant is setup odd and cramped. We felt like we were held hostage so our waitress wouldn't have her table turn over because she was busy. If I go back it will be early or on an off day to not feel so cramped with the crowd.

Good food, good service and good location.  I would revisit this place again.

Service was absolutely fantastic! Everyone was nice, professional and quick with service. No complaints whatsoever.

No one at my table was particularly impressed with the food, though it was definitely good, just not great. Creamy Swiss onion soup had great flavor but was entirely too salty for my palate, and the Julia Child Beef Burgundy was slightly overcooked, and the onion rings that topped it were again too salty for me.

I'd give it a 3.5 stars, but rounded up because we had such a positive experience with the service.

Dined here last night for the first time. After a long (and sad) day, a commute to Lansing and back, and a couple hours of Christmas shopping - we were ready for some grub when we arrived around 9PM.

I had checked the menu out online, so I knew what to expect food wise. So when we arrived, I was first impressed by their beer special! $3 for the Shorts Bloody Ale. Not something I had tried before but it is a beer you should experience - love the dill flavoring. Very unique. I did not order wine but I was impressed with the eclectic list and what seemed to be really great prices! I will have to give the wine a go on my next visit.

We were seated in a cozy little 2 top next to the bar area. Perfect! Love the layout of the restaurant, which looks like it has a large patio area for the summer months. The menu is FILLED with many delicious sounding dishes - from the starters to the flat-breads, entrees to the side dishes, it was difficult to decide what to order. I went with the Adult Grilled Cheese, which came with Portabella fries. I also added a side Caesar salad (if you've red my other reviews, I'm starting to think I am a little obsessed with Caesar salads). The salad first came out wrong (a house salad) but was quickly returned for the correct one. I usually ask for my Caesar dressing on the side, but our server had noted that it was lightly dressed - so I trusted her and went with it. It truly was one of the best little Casar salad's! Dressing was light and tangy, and the Parmesan was fresh and had a rich flavor. My husband ordered the house salad, which came with a citrus vinaigrette - also very unique and a real citrus flavor.

The "Adult Grilled Cheese", was filled with Gruyere, Blue Cheese and Swiss ( I believe) and a pear compote. OMG. Like nothing I've ever eaten before. Definitely "adult" in nature, as well as the MMMM-ing and AHHHH-ing I was doing while I enjoyed it. (wink wink). The portabella fries were OK, a little bland. I would likely switch them out for sweet potato fries or a different side next time.

Hubby ordered the Charlie Brown Burger. Glad I could get my hands on it for one little bite - Very good! Meat was cooked perfectly (medium) and the burger had great flavor and bacon was also perfectly cooked (he said). The surprising meal choice of the night goes to hub, who switched out his french fries for the veggies - which I believe they call the Green Tumbler. Knowing that he DESPISES cooked spinach (or at least that's what I have learned after 8 years of marriage), I watched in disbelief as he ate every green leaf, spear and bean on his plate. Guess I can add spinach to the grocery list again - THANK YOU JIM BRADY'S!! :)

Overall, great meal, great prices. Love the Michigan beers available, unique menu choices and feel of the restaurant. We will be back!

My family and I had been regulars at the old location before the move, and I cannot say enough good things about the new building: so much brighter, better outdoor seating, and much more comfortable booths and tables. I am consistently impressed with the affability and knowledge of the waitstaff. On a recent visit, the fryer was out of order, and so our waitress recommended garlic mashed potatoes as a substitute side dish that proved to be a terrific choice! Overall, the priced tend to be just a little high, yet the quality of the ingredients and the size of most meals certainly compensates for the price. The bar is quite nice although I would recommend the restaurant more on the relaxing, cozy setting paired with good food and service.

It had been about 6 years since we last dined at Diamond Jim Brady's (at their old location).  Back then, we had not been so impressed.  This time out, we were very happy with the selections, preparation, quality and value.  I had the potato encrusted whitefish, which was excellent.  My wife was very pleasantly surprised to find so many vegan selections and she selected as her entree a Mediterranean appetizer combo which was outstanding.  Even our 5-year old's chicken fingers had a unique flavor, much better than run-of-the-mill.  DJB also has a very nice selection of craft beers, some of them on tap.  We will certainly be back, this time within months rather than years.

This was our first time at the new location. The food and service at the old location was always top notch so we were excited about giving the new spot a try. Overall, the new location met all of our expectations. It definitely feels smaller than the old location. We sat outside but depending on where you end up, you could feel like you're on top of your fellow diners. Fortunately for us, our spot outside didn't feel that way.

The drinks, food and service were excellent.  We both ordered cocktails from the menu and they had enough alcohol to feel it without it being overbearing. Although we didn't order appetizers, we were served an order of bread before our meal which was very good. The wife had the She-She Hodgepodge which was an interesting dish which she liked. I had the Crusty Mustard Chicken Breast which came with spinach and potatoes. The portions were just the right size for us. I also had a house salad which was very good with a nice mix of toppings. We finished off the meal with a crème brûlée. It was nicely done and the perfect finish to the dinner.

Our waitress was prompt, delivered our food in a timely fashion and was attentive throughout the meal. Mary Brady was working the floor that evening and checked on our meal to make sure we were happy with it. That's always a good sign when the owner is keeping tabs on things. We definitely will be back to DJB.

Hmmmmmmmm....night out with the girls.  We walked into a very crowded restaurant in the new location and 3 menus were taken and we were told to wait and she would be back.  A new woman came to the hostess stand and told us it would be 25 minutes.  Sooooo, we headed over to the bar and ordered up a few cocktails (I enjoyed that they had Strongbow on the menu), and ordered up some flatbread.  The cocktails came but the flatbread didn't, because the original woman who told us she had a table reappeared and seated us.  Anyhow, I remember the old location being more friendly and organized.  Don't get me wrong, the waitstaff was nice, but it seemed discombomulated somehow.   My friend and I both had the same sandwich, a caprese wrap.  Eh.  The flatbread was really good, once it arrived.  We had the pesto/mozz/tomato.    My other friend had the sweet potato burrito on my recommendation, and enjoyed it thoroughly.  I think next time I go I will not go on a busy Friday evening.  4 stars because I know it is the little engine that could.

I have been to Diamond Jim Brady's previously throughout my childhood - it being a family favorite for birthdays and the like.  Based on those experiences, I would've given DJB a 3-star rating, but this past weekend my family and I visited their new location and I was thoroughly impressed.

We sat outside - it was a perfect Michigan summer evening.  Our waitress was fantastic, offering suggestions on wine pairings and she handled our larger party with ease.  The wine selection there is impressive and I ended up with a really nice glass of pinot grigio (per the waitress's suggestion).  Since we were a party of 8 and it was my grandpa's birthday, we ordered a lot of appetizers to pass around.  All of them were superb.  The bar cheese with pretzel bread, bacon maple peanuts were good, but the prosciutto, fig and goat cheese flatbread as well as the charcuterie platter were divine and perfect for sharing.

Not being very hungry after the enormous amount of food we got from our appetizers, I ordered a house salad and side of maple mashed sweet potatoes - both really hit the spot.  The house salad had a great citrus vinaigrette on it that I wish I could replicate at home.  All parties agreed that their meal was delicious.  From lobster cakes to fish and chips to pulled pork tacos, Diamond Jim Brady's does a great job with a varied selection of menu options.

The 2 star, meh I have better is totally based on our experience this time compared to our last experience.

We showed up at 5 and it wasn't busy, but with the heat, I didn't expect it to be. We were greeted with a hello and smile by the hostess and our waitress immediately took our drink orders.

As stated, it was HOT and balmy, today. So we were happy to be going into a restaurant to take a a break from the heat...not so when we entered. It was muggy and warm. The waitress was even fanning herself. I wanted to feel reprieve from the heat and wasn't getting it. My husband even indicated to the waitress that it was warm but no explanation was given. We were going to leave, but hunger had set in and after our last great experience here, we were willing to get past it and enjoy our dinner. About 25 minutes into our visit, it started to cool down. Perhaps they shut the air off when they aren't busy.

Husband and son ordered their special burger. Hubs ordered his hamburger as he did last time with a side salad. Son ordered his also with a side of fries. During our first visit, my husband had declared BEST burger ever and I was skeptical. He didn't declare it this time. Something was lacking in the flavor. Last time, it tasted so fresh and was well seasoned. His meal also didn't come with the fries as it did last time. He thinks the waitress thought he ordered the salad as a substitute...Our caesar salad was good, but again something was off from the first time. The lettuce wasn't as fresh and crisp. Instead of bite size pieces of lettuce, my husband had several large large leaf pieces that he had to cut up. On the plus side, the dressing is very flavorful and creamy. It also comes with fresh shaved parmesan cheese.

On their special menu they were offering Lobster Mac Cheese. I've had lobster mac cheese and it has been divine. (mass./maine) Good lobster is succulent and sweet. The sauce is usually creamy, but flavorful. The flavors typically meld together and create this heaven in your mouth, NOT in this case.  I have NEVER or I cannot remember for the life of me when I have refused to eat a dish that I've ordered and have returned it to the kitchen. When you are charging $21 for a "special" dish, I expect it to live up to every expectation. My first bite and I almost gagged. It was so fishy tasting. Good lobster does not have a fishy taste. I shouldn't have tasted anything fishy (almost like a cod flavor). Aside from the fishy broth, the sauce was so hot it was curdled..yuck. Then the weird thing, the noodles on top were hot, the sauce was hot, but in the three bites that I took, the lobster was a mix of warm/cold. In my last bite, I gave it to my husband and he said the same thing. He also noted that the lobster had no flavor than a fish taste, it didn't taste like lobster. It was horrible.

If you know me, you know that I am not rude and wouldn't make a fuss just to fuss, so it was hard to send this dish back. The waitress was polite, but rather than asking me if I wanted something else (the first time) she asked me if I wanted it boxed...HUH? (we just got our food) I explained to her that the dish wasn't to my liking and that there was something off about the lobster taste and the warm/cold pieces. She took it back to the kitchen and I was sitting right across from the cooks and could see that they were not thrilled with my return. I think the waitress told them I thought the dish was cold...clearly it wasn't as the noodles and sauce were hot. The waitress came back to the table and asked if there was anything else I wanted to order and I had lost my appetite at that point (after watching the interchange between waitress and two chefs) and declined. We were not charged for the Lobster Mac.

    Happy Eating : )

Left my hotel imagining I would end up at the nearby TGI Fridays.  Checked Yelp and found DJB's.  So very glad I did!!!

It a cozy place with a good atmosphere, excellent food, and great service (Thank you Michelle!).

I had Bacon Maple Peanuts, Hot Wings, Blue Cheese Coleslaw, and.a Mediterannean Flatbread.  All of these were excellent, and the peanuts and coleslaw were unique, fun twists on familiar dishes that I really enjoyed.

As a business traveller I also appreciated the fast, free Internet access ( 5x faster than my hotel!)

We hadn't planned on going here and went to try something different. We were both very pleased that we did. My only knock on the place is that the location of the entrance isn't clear, but we made our way in.

We were greeted warmly upon entering the restaurant and were asked if we had been there before. We were seated in a comfortable booth by the bar, where we were we waited on by Moe, the best waitress I've had the pleasure of being served by in a long time.

I started with a Michigan craft beer - they have a wide selection both in bottle and on tap. They also had a large wine listing but I'm a beer drinker so I didn't peruse it. Moe recommended the New Holland Mad Hatter IPA which I very much enjoyed. Moe also brought us two servings of their rolls - dripping in butter and very tasty.

I ordered the Dijon Pretzel Crusted Walleye - delicious. It was served with fried onions which complemented it very well. Also served were mustard glazed green beans and Guinness (as in the beer) macaroni and cheese - also delicious. My wife had salmon with arugula which she also enjoyed.

The owner (a very nice lady whose name I didn't catch) came to thank us for joining them for the first time, which was a very nice touch. We talked to her for a few minutes and to Moe the waitress as well.

The decor is very nice, and there was plenty of outdoor seating.

We didn't have dessert - we were full.

    Looking forward to going back.

This was my first time here at their new location. The location is really nice and I enjoyed the atmosphere. We started with a drink in the bar, very receptive hostess and bartender, who must have been the Manager. We sat down and the service was extremely slow. The waitress was rude and only stopped by to take our order, clear our dishes and hand us the bill. I enjoyed the food but good service is so important. I want to like this place so we will try again and hope for better service. If the poor service does not improve we will not be back.

1st time here since they moved to the new location.  Started with my usual mixed drink. It was good, but could have been stronger.  That's the only thing that wasn't exactly perfect here.

My friend and I shared a cup of the black bean chili, though I tried to eat as much of it as I could.  It wasn't the usual black bean chili that I was expecting.  It was like a normal red chili with black beans instead of kidney beans,  It had nice chunks of tomatoes.  I loved it.  Very fresh and flavorful.  When I go back, I'm getting a bowl, not a cup and I'm not sharing!

My friend got a burger and enjoyed it.  You get a choice of coleslaw or french fries.  He got the coleslaw.  It was really good, not the crap drenched in mayo.  I think it was made with a vinaigrette or something.

I had the caprese chicken wrap.  It was killer!  Nice grilled chicken with tomatoes and fresh mozzarella cheese and a balsamic glaze.  Very tasty. I opted for the french fries, which were hot and crispy.  Yummy.

    I will go back soon.

I have always been a big fan of Mary Brady and the food she puts out. Now in a new location and a new menu, it is even better. Stopped by for brunch on Saturday. The bloody mary's are made with vegetable infused vodka and a house made mix that is quite tasty. The drink is served with a nice garnish of tomato, cheese, olives and a pickle. Very nice.

Had the hash which is made with prime rib and topped with poached eggs. This is a great dish. Some of the famous staples are on the menu including the ceasar salad and the burgers. A nice wine list and bingo...we have a bistro. Thank you Mary.

This is could easily become my go to restaurant in the area!

Came here for lunch and ordered the beef chili which was ok. The complimentary bread was really good! I had to refrain myself from getting a second basket! We both ordered the Salmon Gyro which I thought was cool because I had never seen it on a menu before! The pita, I think is one of the most important components, came out warm and soft, the tzatki sauce was just right too! Overall I'll be coming back for this gyro again!

Had dinner here last night with two other couples. Met at 6:30pm. Got lucky and did not have to wait. Downside was sitting at a tall 6 top table with very hard wooden chairs for 2 hours. Deborah was our waitress and she was very good. Place was pretty full and it looked very crowded at the bar area. Not a lot of room to move around especially once you are seated in the east end of dining room. We ordered drinks and a olive tapenade for a appetizer. The tapenade was very good. Not too salty and the pita crisps were homemade and delish. I had the Scottish salmon dinner and it was done perfectly. My favorite dish of the evening was the Swiss creamy onion soup. This was one of the best soups I have ever had. Tender onions and melted Gruyere cheese made this something to go back for. A couple of our group ordered the Basil crusted and Boursin filled chicken breast salad. It was a nice size for dinner and they enjoyed it very much. Two burgers were also ordered and both said to be outstanding. I think they were a little small for the price but will defer to the opinions of the consumers of said burgers.  Enjoyed a glass of The Immortal Zin old vine Zinfandel with my fish and have to say that I will try and find some of this for my home collection. Will definitely go back for appetizers and drinks.

Diamond Jim Brady's is A-OK, but in its new location as in its old, it has never made me think "Wow! I can't wait to go back". I like the more contemporary feel of the new space, but a major downside is its size. Prepare to be cramped, jostled, and bumped into whether you're in the bar area or at one of the smashed-together tables in the dining area.

As far as food goes, bar snacks and appetizers (meat "butter", bacon peanuts, and a charcuterie plate: how can you go wrong?) and the pub food (burgers and sandwiches) are tasty and creative. Though I've never had the original beef on weck in Buffalo NY, Diamond Jim's version is a really great, horsradishy alternative to a French dip. But the entrees here (salmon, potato-crusted whitefish, steak, pork chop) have always bored me. When dining with a group last night, everyone who had a burger or sandwich was happy, but those who had entrees, not so much.

An outstanding part of our experience last night was the service: attentive, friendly, and patient.

My brother is a fan of this place and wanted us to experience it for dinner tonight.  The service was good, the place was clean but I wouldn't go back.  I ordered the Potato Crusted Whitefish and while the fish was cooked to perfection it had no seasoning whatsoever!  It was supposed have a garlic aioli sauce but just had Worcestershire sauce splashed on top.  My sister ordered the rib eye med-rare.  She sent the first steak back because it was overcooked and while she kept the 2nd steak I could tell she still wasn't entirely happy with it as it too was overcooked.  My mom ordered a burger which looked really good but she added salt to it and my mom NEVER salts anything!  So, while they have a good location, nice looking facility and good waitstaff....if the food isn't done right there's no point in going back.  The prices are quite steep which I don't mind paying if I get good, quality and well flavored food.  Sorry Diamond Jim but we won't be back.

I ate at the reopened Diamond Jim's last night and was quite disappointed.  I ordered the fish and chips.  When it was brought to me the fish batter was noticably dark and greasy.  I didn't initially say anything because I was somewhat surprised it was being served to me and I don't like to complain.  I tried to eat my meal.  It was awful.  They did credit my bill but I am still amazed that they served such an obviously poorly prepared dish.  My companion enjoyed her meal so maybe it was an abberation but I truely don't think a restauantor with pride in their establishment would serve such a dish.

I stopped in here for dinner while in town on business as I have a friend that is connected to it.

I ordered the crusty mustard chicken breast, which came with some cheddar mashed potatoes, spinach, and a caesar salad. I love chicken, and even though I was referred to a couple of other entrees, I decided to go with what I love best! The chicken was solid. Cooked perfectly and a great crust on it. Though while I enjoy the mustard flavor, there were a few bites where I felt like I just took a spoonful of mustard in. It was a little overwhelming to the dish. The spinach was also cooked perfectly and was great for the dish, but I was not a fan of the mashed potatoes. They were too dry and clumpy, though in fairness I do know some people who like them this way.

I had the creme brulee for dessert, which was also solid. The top was under the flame a little too long, though, and that burnt taste can really take over a dish like this, as it did here in a few of the bites.

There seems to be a pretty fair wine list. It's not too deep, but the prices are very good and it doesn't break your bill to have a couple of glasses.

This is what it is - a good meal at a good price. It's not going to blow your socks off, but you won't leave disappointed either.

For those of us lucky enough to have been to Diamond Jim Brady's at the Original 7 Mile location, the Southfield Location and the 1st Novi location...you know will what I am talking about when you come here!  The New Novi location captures exactly what Diamond Jim Brady's was, is and will be. Jim Brady used to say "I serve Food for the Convenience of My Drinking Customers".  Well let me tell you something Jim...those drinking customers are in for one hell of a treat.  Do yourself a favor...get in and check this joint out...and get there early...because just like 7 Mile...the place is packed from open to close!  Bravo!

I's Back!  Don't miss it.  Reopened in a nearby location. Menu and atmosphere is more casual and relaxed.  Four Star chef Mary Brady carries on the Diamond Jim Brady tradition in an all up to date format.  Wonderful menu choices from the simple burger that made them famous along with their original recipe chili... to fancy Steak Diane!  We loved the prime rib sandwich on pretzel roll bun. Fabulous staff is back too!  Great new decor is Bistro Style, but the old bar is there and other familiar Brady items.  Outdoor dining under heaters is great even in November!!  The new restaurant is at 43271 Crescent Blvd.; head for Novi Town Center's clock tower. Open 11 a.m. -11 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-midnight Friday; 10 a.m.-midnight Saturday; 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.
