my last review was from 2009 - so i'm going to update it a little. guess it shows after a few years i'm still in love with this place. great beer and wine selection, great atmosphere, plus shuffleboard and darts. i don't even need to write a review, like I said after 4 years, i'm still coming back to this establishment for a good time, that means they are doing something right.
Review Source:My wife and I went with some friends for the 1st time tonight. Very chill spot, great atmosphere. We had a few apps, that were great, the beer choices were plentiful, and very reasonably priced, and their grilled sandwiches were very tasty! Will definitely be going back, I can see this becoming a local fave spot.
Review Source:I've been to this place a couple of times since moving into the area and i have to say I am glad i found it. It's a great place to come and hang out with great beer selection and bartenders that know exactly what they're talking about. They have suggestions depending on the kind of beer you're looking for and even let you have a sip to try for free. I definitely recommend checking this place out if your in the area
Review Source:We were going to see a concert in Cedar Park and stopped here for a couple of beers and something to eat. Â We sat at the bar and were very happy to see the draft beer selection was plentiful with some unique offerings we hadn't seen in several Austin pubs.
The food we ate (sandwiches/burgers) were tasty and very reasonably priced. Â I wouldn't say the food was 5 star, but it was really good pub food (definitily way above average). Â The bartender was a little busy so we didn't get to interact as much as we liked but she was still very responsive and chatted when time allowed. Â She was very familiar with the beer offereings and made some good suggestions.
If we had a reason to come out this way more ofen, we'd definitly stop here when in the area.
I like the Dig. Â It's got a carefully selected beer menu and the bartenders are knowledgeable and helpful in making a selection. Â I like that the bartenders realize that yes, women are capable of knowing a thing or two about beer. Â If you are looking to sit around and swill Bud Light longnecks all night, you'll probably be disappointed. Â If you want to try good craft beers, this is the place for you. Â It's also just a couple doors down from Hamrick's, which is a plus! Â
The only downsides: the waitresses are not super fast, they are often out of some of the beers on the menu, and the shuffleboard table needs attention. Â (The shaker is always empty. Â And get some new pucks, guys!)
If you are a beer drinker, this place is for you! Everyone is very nice and they have a great selection of beers. Some of their food is good, but pretty standard bar food. It is a very casual place which is great. Â I do not understand the decor. I get the meaning behind what they tried to do, but it does not work. This place could be a good traditional PUB which would be a great hang out for Cedar Park. They need to pick a clear meaningful decor and go with one style. But....if you are dude looking for beer in Cedar P...this is the place.
Review Source:Do not come here for food. This is a live review. I am sitting here, 25 minutes after ordering...sandwiches! Have not yet received. Am told by icy waitress "a few more minutes." We will see. To be fair, they were quick with drinks. The clock is still running.
1 week later: I'm now finishing what was my initial draft of this review. I was slightly inebriated. Wanted to think about it a bit before posting. I still stand by the above. The bartender was friendly enough, but our waitress was not. The food was actually OK, but it took a loooong time to get.
This would be a good place to meet up with friends after work for a drink, but don't come for dinner like we did.
We won't be back, but that's not to say that others wouldn't love this place.
I've been going to The Dig since it opened. Â Honestly, the food was better in the past. Â In the last year it has eroded. Â The beer menu has been pretty good, but let me make a suggestion, not everyone likes to be strangled with hops. Â Good pils, ambers, lagers and ales are available sans Christmas tree levels of hops. Â I love hanging out there with my friends, and minor fixes in their kitchen would help tremendously. Â I wish them well, and know that they can do better. C'mon guys, you brought beer with flavor to Cedar Park, don't sell yourself short.
Review Source:Let it not be said that Cedar Park isn't a cool place to hang out. Have you been to the Dig Pub? It's a sweet space on Cypress Creek Rd. that has everything you'd want and more from a local pub. Huge beer selection, food, indoor and outdoor seating, huge bar if you want to park yourself in front of the bartender so he can beer you with ease, darts, foosball, even trivia night, I've heard.
They don't have hard liquor here, but you don't need that anyway. When you're hanging at Dig, you're gonna want to try the beer. If you're more of a wino, you've lucked out, as they have that, too - and a supposedly excellent cheese plate to pair it with.
Place was bustling on a Sunday afternoon/evening, so I think that it's safe to say any time is a good time to stop by the Dig for a beer and a bit of elbow rubbing with your neighbors.
If I actually knew anyone in Cedar Park other than my parents, this would totally be my local hang. I came here with a couple o' them sophisticated city folk, though, and they didn't seem uncomfortable at all. In fact, I think they rather enjoyed themselves. I'd say that with the broad selection of beer and beer appreciation that happens here, this place isn't just a destination for locals who don't want to drive into the city; it's a viable option for Austinites who love their beer, too.
To start, My rating of this place based on simply the beer selection and the atmosphere, I would have given this place a 4 star rating. Moving on, When we arrived, it was seat yourself, so me and my girlfriend found a nice table to sit at which was dirty (no big deal, just wiped it off and forgot about it). The waitress came over after a few minutes and asked if we were ready, but since it was our first time there, I wanted to browse all the beers before making a selection, so we asked for a FEW more minutes. About 10 or 12 minutes pass and she finally came back to get our beer order. Once the order was place, another 15 minutes went by and we finally received our beer.
We went on a monday night, and I noticed only 2 people working the entire establishment, a waitress and a bartender. Every table in the place (including the outside) had people at them. I was in the service industry for a few years, and I could tell the waitress was doing her best to keep up with everyone, but it's very difficult to have 1 person doing 15+ tables herself. I'm not sure if it was just bussier than normal for a monday, but there were just not enough people working to support the crowd.
The food on the menu was basic and they did not have french fries, nor anything fried on the menu period (other than bagged chips). I don't know about anyone else, but how could you not have french fries (or any fried food for that matter) at a pub!!!!! It's almost a sin. Although, the food they did have did look decent, we didnt try it because of the extremely long wait just for beer. I imagine food would of taken well over half an hour that night.
Advice, get a fryer...and staff more people at the beginning of the night, and if it is slow, cut someone to go home and don't assume a small crowd.
My girlfriend and I decided to go here last night since we had never been, and lived down the street. We did read the menu ahead of time and were fully aware that it was limited, but it sounded good, so we went with it! We sat ourselves and waited a few minutes before our waitress greeted us and took our drink order. She was very helpful with assisting us in finding a good brew to have, which was helpful since there were so many to choose from. After waiting a bit for our drinks (which were great by the way), we decided to order one of the cheese starters. We ordered the Manchego cheese which was served with half of a sliced apple, some toasted bread, Â water crackers, nuts, and green olives. It was good, but honestly it looked like everything came from the local grocery store down the street. So, after eating that, we decided on two sandwiches from the menu. We gave the waitress our order, waited about 15 minutes and then she came back to inform us that they ran out of bread......WTF!!! When 90% of your menu is sandwiches, one would think they would always have plenty on hand. She attempted to tell us that they received an order in the day before, but that it was "very busy" the night before and they ran out. Ummmm...as mentioned above, there is a grocery store down the street....go get some bread! So, we sucked it up and they suggested we try their pizzas instead. Well, we should have walk out then because we were not ready for their "pizzas"! We ordered the supreme and the meat trio....waited....and waited....and waited some more. The manager brought out the supreme pizza and lets just say....it looked like CRAP! It was luke warm, looked like it had been sitting out for some time, and when I picked up a slice, it was completely soft and limp (hold the jokes) and had no foundation. I showed it to our waitress and she even said "no, I wouldn't eat that either". So, she went and got the manager (who brought the sorry excuse for a pizza) and I asked her the same question, her response "no, I wouldn't eat that".....ummm then why in the hell did you bring it to me?!?!?!? So, needless to say, we didn't pay or eat the pizzas. We instead closed out our tab, and proceeded to drive down the street to Whataburger instead.....no lie!
I told her they need to take a serious look at their kitchen and make some serious changes, so we will see. I told the manager that we would return one day to give them another try...but honestly it may be for just the drinks and not the food!
This place really is the coolest place in CP!
I've been here several times ( I used to work at the shit hole across the street so I would come in for better prices and awesome atmosphere after work ) So the first time I go in and I ask for a bud light...the guy tells me he can take one of his beer and add water to it if I would like...
Ok so he samples me a few kinds and I find out I am IN LOVE with live oak hef! It's now my beer of choice. We actually sold it at my shit hole job across the street for $1 more a pt. I never tried it bc I had no idea! Thanks Dig Pub...
Atmosphere is awesome...you can sit outside and smoke if that is your thing and there always seems to be some dude with a random instrument out there just entertaining the masses!
Great beer! Good pub food and I like the staff. Wife and I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Have been here three times and I always get the same great service and attention from the different staff...they have a great thing going. The staff makes the establishment and the hiring manager has a good formula.
Review Source:I was initially underwhelmed after moving to Cedar Park...A certain lack of personality and an over abundance of average at best fast food/chain restaurants made me feel like my options were quite limited for going out. However, I recently had the pleasure of finding this little gem, which offers hope for the future of the area.
The Dig is a fantastic little hangout spot/beer spot with nothing but local brews, opting to ditch any major brands for what the smaller breweries had to offer. Dimly lit, with an Aztec/Egyptian theme, it's an escape from the suburban landscape that the area has to offer. I can definitely appreciate that.
The beer was fantastic, and they offer charcuterie/cheese platters that are quite delicious, as well as flatbread pizzas and sandwiches. We both had grilled cheese (She had the Rosetta Stone, I had the Amore) sandwiches, although mine had waaay too much olive tapenade, so much that it overpowered the relatively mild fontina till it was nonexistent. Aside from that, I'm sure I'll be hanging out there relatively often.
Great place to hang out with your buddies from work... And be able to hear. Â Love hanging out with my husband and friends, I make new friends every time I'm here. Â I enjoy being a patron. Â The staff knows me and so do the other patrons. Â Sadly, they don't yell "Rhonda" when I walk in the door... But close. Â
Big selection of craft beers... Lots of IPA beers for those who like it. Â I enjoy the Live Oak line. Â
Food is ok, everyone is here for beer... Not food! Â
Owners have FB and use it to promote cask nights and other promotions.
This place is AWESOME! Fantastic selection of beers, super friendly and knowledgeable bartenders and servers, and a friendly, laid-back crowd. I love heading here with a group or just with my hubby to grab a beer or three.
Honestly, the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars would be a limited food selection, which isn't a deal-breaker. I wish they had a few more offerings outside of sandwiches and chips, but the hummus is pretty good.
So stop somewhere else to grab some dinner and then head to the Dig Pub - ask them to suggest some stuff based off of one or two beers you already like and you won't be sorry - they're awesome!
I am not a beer guy- my friends call me a wine snob so I thought this wouldn't be the place for me - WRONG! Â
Great atmosphere - friendly people - very good wine selection and quite frankly enough types of beer that even the non-beer type can find something they like. Â
Ask and the staff will help you pick out something delicious.
This place could TOTALLY be your neighborhood Cheers. Â Which it happens to be for my married friends Amy and Jesse.
This is the kind of bar where everybody knows your name. Â And what you want. Â Which is nice because what you want will probably be amazing since their beer selection isn't as much in the InBev empire (or shall I say monopoly?) but rather in the local craft format. Â Ask the bartenders what is good and they will tell you.
The food is pretty good for bar food. Â They have throwing darts and shuffleboard. Â My memory is a little fuzzy but I'm pretty sure I kicked Jesse's butt at shuffleboard. Â Next time I am in Cedar Park I will be sure to come back.
I typically go to Hamericks Market next door to The Dig and take my beer home. Â However last friday I decided to stop into The Dig Pub and have a few. Â I told the bartender what kind of beer I typically enjoy and if he could offer me some new ones to try. He returned with 2-3 tasters of some beers I might like. I decided that I liked the Austin AmberWorks PeaceMaker. I had a few beer here and chatted with my neighboring beer drinker.
Overall a good pub with ALOT of draft options for way out in Cedar Park. The place tends to be busy from the looks of the parking lot
As of the day of this review, I'll put The Dig Pub up against any beer serving establishment in Cedar Park for beer selection awesomeness. A few years ago they removed the welcome mat for the Anheuser-Busch and Coors Brewing companies of the world opting for smaller craft and largely Texas beers. No doubt AB's involvement in stymieing HB 602 was the last slap in the face that preceded their decision to boycott AB, but life is too short to drink bad beer, so fine by me. With about 25 on draft and about 10 of those rotating on a regular basis there are many opportunities to try new beers. If shuffle board, darts, foosball, dog friendly places, live trivia or live music is your thing, you are in luck.
Happen to have a wife that prefers wine and cheese? Well, you are in luck again because they have cheese plates and wine along with some damn good grilled sandwiches, my favorite being the South by Southwest (ham, pepper jack cheese, green chilies, onion and cilantro). They say it's so good it'll make you want to slap yo momma; but if you have a mom like mine you know that would be a bad idea, just enjoy the sandwich and keep your hands to yourself. Good beer. Good wine. Good cheese. Good sandwiches. Good times.
It's been over three years since my original review and I needed to come back here and update it to the 5/5.
I always enjoy my visit to the Dig Pub. Tons of excellent beer selections. Nice relaxing atmosphere, excellent service. And how that it has added the live venue side of the business it is a great place to go and enjoy some entertainment.
Excellent Happy Hour specials, Trivia nights, wine flight nights, etc.
The trick about being the Accidental Teetotaler in a bar is gauging three things: Are the people you're with having a good time? Would you come back? And how does the bar staff treat you after realizing you're not a boozer? For the Dig Pub, the answers are Yes, Yes, and Like a Completely Normal Person. That makes me a fan.
I've only been here with other Yelpers, mainly because once past Lakeline Mall, I really have no idea where I am. The Dig Pub appears to be the favorite local venue of Cedar Park Yelpies, and it's easy to see why - there's something for everyone here. Beer and wine and food and trivia and cool inside and outside seating. Weekend bands and a friendly staff. The only thing I didn't see was hard booze, but apparently there are beers here crafted to knock you on your ass.
I neither eat nor drink pub fare, but I'm first to admire clever offerings: Â A couple of pints of "Bitchin' Dog Breath" along with platters of "Around the World in Eighty Cheeses" would have captivated me in an earlier life, but for now I was simply impressed when both our bartender and server cheerfully went back to the kitchen and found me some iced tea. And surprisingly good tea as well.
And finally - and I mean this in the nicest way possible - even though it was special keg day and the place was crowded, the only stunningly attractive women I saw here in three hours were Amy and Keri, who were sitting with us and are Yelp royalty so you really can't count them. I wondered briefly if this was some kind of Cedar Park thing, but Perry assured me it's a simple timing thing, and the nighttime crowd would prove diverse and expansive. Well, okay then. And bring us another round of that Bitchin' Dog Breath while awaiting the setting sun.
My very first yelping UYE!!! My cherry was taken in classic beer drinking style. Â John the bt was a little stinker that kept my interest. Â I walked in and I hear, "you must be Phillip B.". I turn to look, and, it's Perry H.! Â Awesome!! Â We chatted for awhile and he casually mentioned his friend Keri. Â Cool, whatever. Â Keri arrives. Â We uckingfa know each other!!! Â Same profession, same company!! Â Weird! Â Cool!! Â Awesome!! Â Next Amy comes in, very cool chick. Â Meanwhile, bf gets plastered and passes out in the car. Â Joe C. and Errol FINALLY arrive! Â It was awesomely cool to meet these two. Â Especially Errol, since we banter back and forth. Â Cool people. Â And, even though I didn't try Joe C.'s balls, everyone else got down on them!! Â The Dig Pub was cool, better than I expected. Â I can see why Perry hangs there!
Review Source:Stopped in one Saturday afternoon right when they opened. I thought Wow, we're the first drinkers here. Must we feel bad? Hell no! I think a glass of Merlot and an Ice cold IPA is perfect at 4pm. So did the other fifteen people that showed up within 20 minutes of opening.
Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Can't wait to go on a Friday night.
I really dig The Dig Pub. Â I've been wanting to stop in for some time but hadn't gotten around to it until a friend and some of their friends decided to go there on a Friday night. Â They have several wines to choose from (I don't drink much else), bar food (try the pretzels with mustard!), the waitresses were on top of their game, and the music was right up my alley (alternative/indie). Â I look forward to going here on mellow evenings.
Review Source:I went here for the first time last Friday. Â It was not a very good experience.
1. Â Food took forever and the sandwich was way too greasy when it finally came out. Â We also had a pizza which actually wasn't bad. (Maybe saved my rating from a 1 star)
2. Â They were out of 2 different drinks I ordered! Â How is that even possible. Â I ended up drinking to other drinks that I did not really want. Â
3. Â Service was incredibly slow - I don't think it was the staff's fault. Â They were working hard, but seemed like they were short-staffed.
Doubt I'll be back.
The best place to go within 15 miles If you enjoy drinking beers that don't end in LIGHT...
A ton of craft brews, the majority of which are brewed in Texas. Laid back atmosphere and freindly knowledgeable staff that is always ready to tell you about what's on tap or grab you a sample.
The Dig Pub the best neighborhood bar in Cedar Park. If you are looking for a place to hob nob or get groped by dirty men, this is not your kind of bar. It's the the kind of  place to come hang out with coworkers and gripe over a drink or two during happy hour or a place to meet up with friends for a casual drink or spend a weekend evening without the hassle of getting fancied up and fighting crowds downtown. I have been here to listen to my friend tell me she left her husband; I've also been here when the same friend told me she's getting back together with her husband a year later.
Come with friends, the seating is mostly tables and a few couches. Walk in and sit anywhere and a waiter will come take your drink and food order. I love the lengthy beers on tap, with many local selections. The menu is very descriptive so choosing a beer is a no brainier. Â Also, you can order a sample of anything before committing. I love that you can order full pint or 1/2 pints. For pub food, I think the sandwiches are great and generously stuffed! I have had a few of them and all were really good, but then again, how can you mess up a grilled ham and cheese sandwich?
There is live music on Friday nights and the bar gets a bit crowded so come early. The drink orders come fast; however, you may be waiting for a while to get your food.
Holy goodness! Â I live close to the Cedar Park area. I like Pubs. I like beer, real beer and different varieties. I maintain that lite beer isn't beer at all. But now I'm ranting....
I moved here about 4 months ago and thought I had to drive to The Flying Saucer in the Lamar area to get some good brews. That's what I've been doing for the last few months. Then I was scouting pubs out on Yelp and found this place. Love at first sight.
The bar tenders are authentically Austin...laid back, smell a little funky, super nice and attentive. They also know about beer. They rotate their beer selection every month and offer seasonal brews you won't find at most places. There are about 45 taps on the wall. I enjoyed some Southern Star Buried Hatchet ($5/pint during HH) and the Rambler (lighter Belgian style beer, $3.25/pint during HH).
By the way, HAPPY HOUR RUNS 4-7 Monday-Friday. That means $1 off draught beers and wine. Â On Monday draughts are a dollar off all day.
They also have a small food menu. I got the Thor's Hammer sandwich, because I'm a a real man.  It comes with chips. Ms. Vickie's Jalapeño is the way to go.
If you live in North Austin, Cedar Park, Leander area, this is your go-to place for good beer, laid back folk and pretty good food. Don't bring your friends who drink possum piss (anything lite, bud/coors/miller products) though. They'll think this place is lame. I, however, shall frequent this place.
