    This bar is the quintessential dive bar in a small town.  The drinks are cheap and good, the juke box has some great music and our waiter Daniel was one of the nicest guys we've met in Oakhurst. With our cheap drinks even came free potato chips!    The bar has a charm of it's own with tons of things on the wall to look at and read but what really gave this place 5 stars was the friendliness of the waiter.  He went around to each group of people there and went out of his way to make small talk, see how their vacations were going and give them tips about the area.  If you're in the area it's worth a stop!

    As good as a dive bar gets :) Awesome bartenders. Heavy pours. Complementary potato chips. This is the perfect pit stop on the way to and from Yosemite National Park. Clean bar, Clean bathrooms, Pool table, Small old TV's. If you pass by this bar (Like everrrr in your life) You have to stop in :)

    Yep. Fun dive bar. Lots to look at, cheap drinks, and an easy to walk from any motel in town. Sarah bartended on the Monday night we were there - what a kick, she was funny as hell. Daniel was there on Tuesday and we really enjoyed our time with him as well, he's super nice and knowledgable about the area and its history. Won't tell you what the picture I posted is of - you'll have to guess...or go up there and find out for yourself.

    Dive bar at it's finest.  Being super mature, the name sold me on our trip up to Yosemite and the $3.00 24 ounce Bud Lights won my heart.  The owner was there when we were and she was so friendly and the bartender gave us great suggestions for dinner.

    A great little dive bar with lots of biker memorabilia on the walls, a pool table in the back, and great conversation. Daniel bartends on Wednesday nights and he's a great guy!

    I dont give too many 5 stars, but this place is awesome at being a local, no frills, not fancy, good 'ol belly up to the bar type of place.  Only 2 beers on tap, bud light and PBR.  Super cheap.  I've turned into a beer snob of late, but settled on a sierra nevada pale ale after finally (driven by for years) stopping in with a couple of buddies.  $7.50 for three beers.  Really?  The bartenders, stopped by two days in a row, were nothing short of super dang friendly and that is why I give it 5 stars.  Simple, cheap, and friendly.  All of the cool stuff hanging on the walls are interesting to say the least.

    How can anyone in their right mind drive past a place called the Dirty Donkey and not go in?

    Here's what you're gonna find inside (spoiler alert):
    * Funny pictures and things on the wall to laugh at;
    * A pool table to do your stupid trick shots
    * $2.50 for a 24 oz. Bud Light (how do they make any money?)
    * A chance at a bar room brawl (the bartender had to kick a bunch of people out the night we were there)
    * Drunk ass locals
    * Drunk ass tourists

    If anyone was to go to a place (not specific) called Dirty Donkey while visiting in little Oakhurst, CA it would be me and the crew that I am traveling with.

    I mean with a name like this how can you not want to go and check it out to see if they serve beers, a little titty action or a petting zoo or a little of both?

    Not really what I expected but still we had an amazing experience at this special tavern which only recently opened up in 2009, it's quite clean if they are going for the dive bar scene and the atmosphere is unique in a sense that certain decor reminded me of a Natural Museum while others photos and "art" reminded me of a Comedy Shop or Cheeky Gift Shop.

    Of course, our party of 5 all wanted shirts & tanks, especially the booty shorts... but unfortunately they were sold old.  They need to keep that shit in stock, I mean they can make big money off that stuff, definately more than their beer & liquor as I thought to myself after enjoying a few beverages that were priced much lower than MMSRP or  Monterey Market  Suggested Retail Price.

    Can't wait to go visit again next time we hit up Bass Lake!  Even though we drove by it earlier, I didn't know that it existed until some GPS, Google Maps, Yelp or Foursquare picked it up on my new Droid "Incredible"... technology sure is incredible (totally being sarcastic).

    Funny, as I sat at the bar with my eyes glues to my cell phone screen, trying to Foursquare my ass (pun intended) on my cell to tell the whole world (again being sarcastic) that I was at the Dirty Donkey, my lady friend (slightly older than me) to my right joking said, "Remember when people used to talk to one another at the bar..."  Funny coming from her mouth as she is the biggest Foursquare Whore that I know!

    This review is long in coming, but not for lack of want.

    One snowy weekend in late January, a good friend and I drove through town (in the daytime) and spotted the auspicious, hand-painted sign. My first thought was "whoa... that looks pretty wild! and for me? hmm..."  I put the thought away, not figuring I'd have a chance (ok, or inkling) to set foot in the place. Local bars tend to be visitor averse and I'd have to play that by ear. RIght.

    Fast forward, after an awesome meal at Todd's BBQ to write home Mama about, and a beer, said friend and I decided to just "swing by..." Sure, what the heck. Right? All these places are within a block of each. No big deal.

    We pulled up to the bar. A sign somewhere proudly stated "Bikers Welcome," and the door was vividly painted with..? Yes, a Donkey. There was a huge cheer from within as we walked up. One large roar, most definitely with a saucy edge. Whoever was in there was having a  very good time! One shared look and we went in.. or maybe more like dove.

    Lady bartender was awesome. It was the Saints in their last Awesome game before they made history at the Super Bowl a week later. We sat right up near the 40(?) inch flatscreen and whooped it up. Ok, so 2.50 for a FROSTED glass tankard of (domestic) beer (!), and cheap well drinks that are poured great. Turns out this place attracts all the visitors as well as locals and it's just a great mix. At least that night. Wish I could remember the bartender's name, but I'll come later, and I'll update it.

    Planning to go back very soon. Perhaps this weekend. May be hard to  top, but plan to bring more people and loved the open and good-natured atmosphere (complete with the crazy visiting drunk that's like that Uncle you never talk about).  Plenty of room inside for pool, and I think darts, too. Looking forward to nexttime. I also see all the other posts from the hotels about this place. Maybe they'll end up posting here, too.

    I am running out of steam. Wrapping up... There were lots of reasons why I picked 5-star for this. All very personal, related to synchronicity and the company. Hope it works that way for you, too. Just know it's just a good local bar with good drinks... man, and did I mention that  2.50 beer?!

    Enjoy.
