This one was shown to me by a very special woman some spell ago. When I am willing to take the drive out of the hustle and bustle that's South Lake, The Divided Sky is one of my favorite places, period. The servers are passionate and informed. The food is FRESH, which is inherently difficult for somewhere like Meyers. The beer is consistently excellent. The salads ... OMG, seriously, TRY THE SALADS. The sandwiches, are the only thing I have a comment on. I like them, and get one almost every time, but they could use a little more flavor; something is missing. The atmosphere is friendly, fun and casual. It's convenient for anybody driving from Heavenly back to Sacramento that wants to sit down and eat something healthy, without a long wait or high tab (but don't drink and drive please). I recommend it for anybody who happens to be in the area.
Review Source:Great local spot for um, well locals and also for vacationers staying in Meyers. Â Good mix of vegetarian friendly food (not very vegan friendly though), tippler-friendly drinks(aka alcoholic beverages), and chill music, resulting in a lounge-like setting. Â Snobs and dull people should be sure to avoid this spot.
Review Source:The Divided Sky is an interesting place that opens daily at 2pm. It has the feel of a dive bar / snowboarder hangout, but serves up excellent food. Their menu consists of warm sandwiches, a few starters, salads and soup. The ingredients are all very good quality and much of it is organic.
For starters we had organic edamame and garlic bread. Both were well executed and delicious. The garlic bread has large chunks of roasted garlic which is a plus.
I had the Kiva sandwich, which is made with wild caught salmon, raw onions, goat cheese, and mixed greens on a ciabatta roll. It was heavenly, the salmon and goat cheese flavors blended together beautifully and I really enjoyed it. On the side I had their tomato basil soup, which was flavorful and tangy, it could have been a bit thicker, but I still liked it.
At the table we also had a tuna melt that came on a ciabatta roll with tomatoes and cheddar. I tried some and it was very good. We also had the french bread pizza which was fun and tasty.
Also at the table there was a Jenga set which we played with while waiting for our food. There is a fireplace near the windows which is nice in the winter and the atmosphere is very casual with some people just there for the drinks. The staff was friendly and jovial, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time.
Owner is friendly, beer is great, atmosphere is inviting and relaxing. Â AMAZING sandwich, had to go two days in a row...the Flagpole: mozzarella, artichokes, tomatoes, onions, I added smoked salmon. Â GET IT!!!!
Used to live in Meyers and would have been here every other day for the food here. Makes me miss SLT!
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Its a great place for eats and drinks.
Their signature drink is Fresh Squeezed Ruby Red Grapefruit and Finlandia Vodka. So I actually felt kind of healthy while drinking.
There are a variety of sandwiches and salads to choose from with tons of vegetarian options. Also DS's attitude about preparing what you want is great, because they are willing to modify anything on the menu to your liking. All of their ingredients are super fresh and healthy.
The atmosphere is so comfortable, and mellow... concrete bar slab that resembles marble..(after a few ruby reds...), comfortable seats, dim lights, chill music. I've been here a few times now, each time I love it even more...
I wish I could pick this place up and move it into South Lake Tahoe proper, so that it's closer and I could avoid the DUI deathtrap that is the road out front of the bar at night (CHP station is right there). Â If I could, then I'd for sure enjoy the great food, good drinks, and unique live music that they have. Â Since I can't, I'm not really a regular enough to know whether it's a good bar to be a regular at, which would give it a 5th star. Â So until I move out to Meyers or get rich enough to have a chauffeur, I'll stick to being a regular at Steamers...
Review Source:I dig this place!
Stumbled upon the Divided Sky  while heading into Tahoe for a quick donation to the casino's after a day of boarding at Sierra at Tahoe!
It would appear they music and such at night, but I haven't ever been in the neighborhood that late.
They have a full bar, Â nice little selection of micro brews on tap, espresso machine for latte's, mocha's or whatever, and great sandwiches!
The Edinburgh sandwich is the favorite, being the carnivore that I am, I usually add pastrami or turkey to it...
Edinburgh - Grilled Portobello, Basil Pesto, Roasted Garlic, Sun dried Tomatoes, Parmesan, Fresh Mozzarella!
Do it... Do it...
One of my favourite places in town!
Since 2003, Brian has made this place an SLT institution, and is the perfect place to come for a chat and a great craft ale (served in proper 20oz Imperial Pints!!!) after a day out climbing, biking or playing in the pow.
The menu is simple but very good, some of the best veggie sandwiches i've had. Thats about it: great beer in real pint glasses, reasonable prices, good people and great food! what more do you want?
Yum! after a lond day of powder riding this place really hits the spot. On a couple of recommendations I tried the anitpasto sampler which included bread, pistacios, pesto, artichokes, olives, garlic, feta, blue, and more...it was great to split for 3 people. I also shared the munich sandwich and finished it off with a great bloody mary. Even more amazing was that our drinks, apps, and sandwiches came out quickly and tasted delicious even though the bartender was taking orders, making drinks, preparing and serving the food without skipping a beat. I will definitely be back.
Review Source:Amazing sandwiches, very healthy and tasty. add turkey meat to any veggie sandwich if you have a need for protein after hitting the slopes.
great beers on tap, occasional music, and awesome decor!
a few weeks ago they had a print up of my favorite band, phish, on the wall.... by an artist who i personally know and love Ryan Kerrigan! It was ryan's phish print from miami 2003, beautifully framed above the bar.
they have deschutes beer - which is one of my favorites, on tap. and great salads too
all in all a great place, good atmosphere, and great prices on food and beer. Great place to unwind after hitting the slopes
Great locals hangout. Â I love that the food menu has more than one veggie option. Â Amsterdam sandwich was delish! Â Artichoke hearts goat chhese and some other stuff on ciabatta bread. Â Loved it and all the other veggie ones I've tried. Â Interesting selection of beers on tap. Â I'm old to be hanging out at bars all night so usually join friends for dinner and a few drinks and we are leaving just when it's getting crowded and the live music is starting. Â Usually a friendly crowd no matter what time you go.
Review Source:I love this place. Â I used to not come very often because I lived at the other end of town and with CHP offices right next door, it's always a bit risky no matter how little you've had to drink. Â However, now that I live right down the road, I'm here often. Â
Things that are awesome about the Sky:
1. Â The food. Â It's ace and super fresh. Â Don't mind the long wait, they are literally cutting your tomatoes to order.
2. Â The beer. Â They have Deschutes Organic on tap. Â Love it.
3. Â The ambiance. Â Loungy, comfortable and you can hear each other. Â
4. Â They like to ride bikes.
We live only a mile from the divided sky so may have some bias as we consider it a local hangout. (But many friends we have taken there
agree that it RULES!).We occasionally go there for the music, once in a while to have an afternoon beer/wine but most often go there because the food is excellent.
The ambiance is unique: kind of rustic-beatnik/hippie-workingman-local-mountainbikÂer-art-and-music-rules...any, I mean ANY kind of
music is apt to be presented live and the art on the walls is always cool and fun with a high weirdness factor (a good thing.)
The food selection, like the kitchen, is small but the quality is top notch. Virtually all organic, healthy and delicious.
Brian, who has owned and operated it since its inception and who has a warm, sort of zen mellowness, prepares a great homemade soup virtually every day.
The salads are fresh and wonderful and the sandwiches to die for.
Always several fine micros on tap ("20 oz pints"!) and the house
wine selection, which varies with availability, is always outstanding.
There is a full bar and the drinks are generous.
A couple of reviewers dissed the food--I have to believe that these
neanderthals probably subsist on McDonald's and its ilk and frozen
entree dinners.
In fact, the food is elegantly simple, healthy and delicious.
Oh yeah, Tuesdays are currently the only night to get Brian's totally
killer fish tacos (check this as he is considering adding another night.)
This place is amazing! Â
It's mostly frequented by locals and I'm a clean cut young woman from the Bay Area so I got some confused looks from the bar flies when I walked in for a sandwich at 5. Â The people who arrived later were super friendly and chatty. Â The lady with a toddler joked with me and the next time I went in, a gay guy invited me to stay for a beer. Â
The guy who works there who has a shaved head is super nice and friendly. Â According to my friend who lives in South Tahoe, he DJs sometimes. Â Cool! Â
I'm guessing the beer is great but the sandwiches are to die for!!! Â The Waterhouse is my personal favorite. Â It has smoked salmon, pesto, sun dried tomatoes, and mozzarella. Â Delicious!!! Â My other favorite is the Big Dipper. Â It's a juicy delicious French Dip. Â Amazing! Â
It's a great place to hang out starting probably around 6 and definitely going
