I could have sworn that I wrote this when it was more relevant, but I digress.
Okay, so I went to Brothers Bar and Grill on my birthday 12/31. It was also during the festival Snowglobe, and I was excited to have a nice steak on such a festive day for me. The steak was delicious. I mentioned it was my birthday, but nothing free (which is okay, I am not a freeloader). I paid, tipped, my bill was quite a bit of my birthday money, but I was okay with such a good steak.
After the festival, I wanted to go for a drink with the last of my money. I went back to Brothers, since it was right by the house I was staying in, and paid for two drinks. I didn't have a dime to my name after paying for the drinks, so I did not tip the second time (but I tipped generously the first time, so I didn't think anything of it). The bartender talked mad shit about me not tipping TO the customers, who also had some nasty things to say. What a rude attitude. The attitude and the fake-niceness to get $$$ is just atrocious, and the taste of the food can't make up for that. I probably won't ever go here again, and if I do, I will pull a Mr. Pink and not tip. If you are a business, don't be rude to people who have spent their entire birthday money in your establishment, and maybe when they say it's their birthday, give em a shot or at least give them a break when they don't tip you the second go-round.
Stopped here on our way out of Tahoe for a quick bite. Â I got the Rueben and Tater Tots. Â Was okay...was $9. Not the BEST quality, but it's a bar! Â I got a Newcastle in the bottle...I think it was $4.....average bar in Tahoe prices. Â I do like that they had TV's on, so I got to catch part of the Giant's game... It took a few minutes to be acknowledged, which is irritating when you're starving and thirsty, but the service did get better as our visit went on. Â I would come here again.
Review Source:Although their schedule listed live music, upon arrival we were disappointed to be told "uh we cancelled this weekend". Stayed anyways and sat in a backyardish outdoor dining area. Staff was very friendly, albeit a bit disorganized. Crowd appeared to be 80% local (many congregating at a set of tables separated from everybody else, which allowed them to have their local fun). Huge list of snacky-snacks on the menu -- tried their deep fried jalepeño slices (aka "bottle caps") and their chili `n cheese tater tots -- very competently prepared and perfect with several cold frostys.
Waiter disappeared about halfway through our stay, and then reappears some time later. When paying our bill he commented that he had actually gone off duty and was just taking care of some odds and ends. Unfortunately, between him and the actual waitress our bill got screwed up and we figured out later we had been charged for an extra round.
Annoying but not the end of the world; we'll probably be back.
